Time For A Moment Of Joy [OTA Birthday Mingle]

It's a surprise party. The word is spread around quietly in the background, passed by word of mouth and private messages into inboxes. Where it spreads beyond those initial invitees has a lot to do with how much people are trying to hide the work they're doing to help Lauri-Ell and Wanda. Word of mouth can easily outstrip intention of course, so there was nothing to say that everyone won't show up at the former store turned residence in time to join the party.

There's definitely a nod to decorations, in the form of colorful flowers and woven streamers of leaves settled with feathers, and and even bits of wrapping paper that Lauri had discovered somewhere and didn't understand the proper use of.

A variety of foods, put together by friends and others who care for the twins are laid out on tables that were carried in for the event, and in the corner stands a karaoke machine that had been hiding in Billy's room. That way they've got food and entertainment covered. Even a few bottles of various spirits and juices have been liberated from the diner and even filled from the orange-drink dispensers on a ship. How much of a party it is, though, will depend on the other guests and whether they bring other treats or entertainment to make it a true celebration. Lauri, after all, barely knows anything about human celebrations.

Oh that fucking punk. Tommy flashed forward and waved a finger in his face.

"I could noogie you and you couldn't stop me, man. Don't you challenge me," he teased.

Keith just smirked.

"I like a good challenge," he said, and then laughed a little. "Still... happy birthday, man."

Tommy grinned and offered the man a raised hand. He would resist the noogie if Keith let him go for a high five.

"Next party better be your wedding, dude."

Keith responded with a small wry smile, going one further than the high five by answering it with a friendly high five, hand-grip combo before letting go.

"Working on it," he said. "Though Lance and Shiro are more likely to put it off for my own birthday first." Oops... did he just let that slip? Damn.

Awwww hand holding. Don't tell anyone they did that for even a second.

"Oh? When's that, Keith? Also don't let them if you dont' want it."

[tempredmental]

Hand holding? What? No way! That was totally a hi-five and like... a handshake. Yeah. A handshake... thing...

And well, cat's out of the bag, he supposed.

"Later this month. The 23rd," he said with a slightly sheepish sounding sigh. "It's fine. There's less planning involved in a birthday thing than a wedding, so..." He shrugged. "As long as it's not some like... giant overdone thing, I don't care. I don't celebrate my birthday all that much, normally, but I know a lot of the people around me are really into it. It's nice sometimes."

So, yeah... he got embarrassed by giant parties, but small friends-and-family get-togethers were growing on him. He knew Shiro could easily keep Lance in line as far as making sure it didn't go over the top for just his birthday.

The wedding was likely another story...

"People don't always go so far with big events here, so I don't imagine they will," Tommy answered. Especially if they knew that wasn't the sort of thing that Keith liked.

"Probably not... and they know me well enough, anyway." Keith nodded. "If we do something, it'll be small.

"I can't say the same for the wedding, though. Lance definitely has some ideas."

"Yeah, I saw him getting some sorta board for it. To track things. It's sorta hilarious."

He's seen people fret about weddings before. And he's seen people pointedly not fretting. This, in his opinion, was better.

[tempredmental]

"Yeah. He made fun of me for using whiteboards and corkboards for tracking stuff, but now he sees just how useful they are," Keith said with a small laugh. "It keeps things together, and provides a visual of where you are in planning, and helps you figure out if there's still anything you need to work on. Plus, it's easy to move it out of the way for those times when you're not working on it."

Keith was a pro at using that stuff............

Tommy had to snicker.

"Dude, that sounds like a conspiracy board, if you're using it for tracking."

Maybe Kyle did deserve teasing.

"Hey... it works." Keith made a face. "Don't knock a legit way to keep track of information."

Oh no. Oh No.

"It WAS a conspiracy board, wasn't it? You were all conspiracy theory guy!"

[tempredmental]

"No." Keith recoiled slightly, his temper flaring a bit. "It wasn't a conspiracy! It's how I found the Blue Lion. It was real, and no one else knew about it. So, it wasn't some dumb conspiracy board."

Defensive much? Yeah. It was a conspiracy board.

"Dude, just because you found answers doesn't mean you didn't have a conspiracy board," Tommy counters with a grin. Poor guy.

Keith crossed his arms, looking annoyed.

"Investigation board... like detectives use."

"Are you a detective?" Tommy asked, still grinning.

[tempredmental]

"...no." Keith kept his arms tightly crossed. "Doesn't mean I can't use the same method."

Well that's fair. But he's still smirking.

"Still a conspiracy board."

[tempredmental]

That got the trademark glare in response.

"You're lucky I like you."

[doubled_speed]

"Damn right," Tommy laughs before shaking his head. Sorry, Keith, this is what you signed up for in this friendship.

"Hey dude? Thanks for being here, today."

Keith just smirked a little at Tommy's laugh, closing his eyes for a second before looking back over at him when he addressed him more directly. He smiled.

"Yeah, sure... I hope you have a good one."

"I mean, it's not normal, but fuck tradition. I would prefer this be my new norm."

Though he'd appreciate if the Agrii didn't seem to enjoy tearing him and his brother apart just before their birthday every day. Rude.

"I was never one for tradition, either." Keith just let it go at that, giving a small smirk. Birthdays had always been a sore spot for him after his dad died, and the Agrii, and before them, the Atroma, seemed to like to make things crazy or horrible or something during his, so he hadn't had a normal birthday party around the actual time of his birthday in a very long time. "I'm gonna grab some food, though... if that's cool?"
