Network post: Video

[The scene is of water and Noctis is visible, working on perfecting his craft of fishing here in this strange new land. He casts the line with his right hand and it goes out pretty smoothly. And as he talks to the camera, the bobber is bobbing along pretty well at first and only the side of him is seen since he's not looking directly at it.]

I'm studying agriculture, but it seems I wasn't able to get a lot of information on the different fish here. I know they got pretty big back where I'm from so I was kinda hoping someone could tell me how big they get here if anyone knows.

[And then the bobber goes down quick and Noct pulls back with the rod. And the next thing that's heard is splash and the camera falls off its perch to reveal a pale hand coming up out of the water and onto the deck after a moment or two. Next heard is spluttering accompanied with slight swearing but there's no one on camera.]

What the hell was that?

Yeah, definitely overthinking it. Reeve would let the guy carry it for him. He wasn't picky.

"Of course. Besides, I think Poe would say I need out of my space more often anyway."

The name didn't ring any bells but Noct wasn't going to worry about it. "Gonna have to agree there. Some outdoors stuff is a good idea from time to time."

Noct hadn't met everyone yet, much less Reeve's boyfriend who was absolutely caught up in being able to fly again.

"I'm a former farm boy, I know."

The king shook his head. "Hard to imagine you on a farm." And fortunately he'd been on one with having to grow vegetables. A part of his mind tried to picture Reeve like that and he just ended up shaking his head with a smile.

Nope, hard to do.

Well that earned a burst of laughter from Reeve. So many people said that. Tony had been very serious about that same point.

"I left the farm when I was young."

The laughter was unexpected but it was always welcome and it made Noctis smile. "That just means it didn't have a chance to keep you on it."

Reeve as a farm boy was just a mental picture he couldn't get into his head, but that was totally fine.

"I don't know. I think my aspirations to build things were what led me away. But yes, I didn't stay. I haven't been on one in many years if truth is to be told."

So was the farm really small or in a small town where you're from?

[Curious king is curious.]

It was a small farm in the country. Our nearest neighbor was miles away actually.

[Such was how many farms on the continent had been once.]

Miles away? That sounds pretty nice actually.

[This coming from a city boy.]

What kind of stuff did you grow?

Food to keep ourselves fed. We weren't as much about the money making aspect. Sure, we sold some excess.

[Noct just shook his head because all he thought about were the vegetables that he had to grow for the vendors in Lestallum.]

Keeping yourselves fed is a pretty great idea.

[Even if he's still having trouble picturing Reeve on a farm.]

It's how farmers do it.

[He was smiling to himself now. This was very amusing to him, and he could use the laughter right now.]

My mother did a lot of the house work, father and I worked the fields when I was old enough. Before I left.

[He can't help but smile. This guy as a kid in the fields is a mental image that is so far removed from who he's seeing now.]

Does your family still own the farm?

No. Not for a while. But it doesn't matter in the end. They aren't around to enjoy the land.

[The king shook his head]

I'm sorry to hear that.

It's not something ot be sorry for.

[Reeve smiled.]

Maybe I'll tell you about it sometime. But it's better done over a meal, and not when you should be paying attention to your fishing so you don't get pulled in again.

[Noct nodded.]
