Video | Open | cw: drugs

[The video opened to, well, a wall and part of the ceiling and not actually Kavinsky, but he was there, evident by the curl of smoke from off-screen.]

You ever miss shit? Like weed or whatever you're into? I doubt this place has drugs around every corner.

[If it did, he wouldn't be sitting there right now, making this video.]

I could change that if anyone was interested. There's no money here, so I guess I'd be doing it for favors.

[But not out of the goodness of his heart. According to some people, he didn't have any of that.]

Don't worry about that part too much; I'm a reasonable guy. [He didn't even know what he'd ask of someone right now, but it was good to make connections, to be able to say you owe me if the time came.]

And don't be shy. I won't judge you for whatever shit you like getting high on.

[ Right now Kaz is multitasking but also being incredibly rude at the same time by not looking at who he's having a conversation with. ]

That's supposed to be the reason. But like I said, the Agrii were invaded a long time ago. Thanks to that and some other stuff, I'm now thinking the Agrii are being controlled. While they are trying to be helpful when it comes to us captives, I'm pretty sure there's more to their story than what they are being allowed to tell us.

[ Kaz shrugs. ]

I've been trying to find a way to communicate with them without the Atroma seeing that communication. But since I'm now certain they are watching the Network and the 'Soup Lies' box, I haven't found one yet.

[ If Kavinsky kicked Kaz, that alone is dangerous, but if Kavinsky made a crystal break? Then it's likely that Kaz would break one of Kavinsky's bones in kind. Might just be safer to refrain from kicking altogether. ]

That's the theory I've come to. And as far as why us...

[ And now Kaz did look Kavinsky in the eye; ]

They don't bring just anyone. I haven't met anyone here that is just a boring, bog-standard nub. Whatever superpower you have, or special talent you use, that's why you're here. It's rare to the point of non-existence that anyone 'normal' finds themselves here.

[ But that made Kaz wonder what he was doing here at all because he had no magic in his blood, no special talent, he was a plain old human - and a cripple to boot. Kavinsky could at least lay claim to dreaming things. As far as Kaz could tell he was one of only six plain humans in all of Temba. ]

[ Kaz only raised an eyebrow at Kavinsky, unsure why Barrel slang would be so funny. But his attention was back on the crystals. ]

More like a zoo. Take a look around, you'll see it's all ages from infants to some that measure their lifetimes in centuries. All walks of life and plenty aren't human at all. There are a whole lot more questions about Temba than answers but one thing is sure; any alien species that can transport people across time and space is very different than most of us can comprehend. Believe me when I say they already know more about us than we know about ourselves.

[ Kaz lifted his smartphone to indicate it, though his attention was still on the crystal. ]

And you can always be sure they are watching.
