[BACK IN TEMBA: o hi it's an Echo and the background's kind of bouncing around-]

-I have a question.

How many kids do we have in Temba right now?

[OOC:Kind of backdating this a few days, end of July, etc.]

Affirmative. Number's obviously changed since I last checked in, however.

I'm assuming you're relatively new to Temba as well.

[Her nose wrinkles ever so, in thought at his confirmation. While she hasn't had much experience with children, aside from her own childhood which certainly should not be used as an example, she does still find it surprising.]

When last you checked, what was it?

[Has it gone down... or up?]

Ah. Yes. I found myself here not that long ago.

[And another pause.]

Gamora.

[Killing it at the whole social thing!]

We were at three.

[Which means it's gone up. And Echo's not too pleased with the thought.

Although his brow creases, he nods.]

Echo. Welcome to Temba, Gamora.

[An introduction's an introduction, right?]

... they came accompanied with a guardian?

[You know, a parent. Or were they expected to partake in this place as well? It is all things that Gamora has not thought about.]

Thank you, I suppose. It... is not exactly the worst place I have been, but those places had some means of departing, even if it may have taken some work.

[He understands. Although one of them is an actual parent and the other adopted, they're still guardians.]

Three of them have. As far as I know, the others haven't.

[He shakes his head, smiling a little.]

It isn't. It's just a little too quiet at times.

Anything concerning transportation - including going off-planet - has been a complicated matter. We've only recently gained access to a train that connects us to another city.

[A hut. Screams. Huddling. Gamora doesn't have many memories of her childhood. Precious little to hold onto.]

They are... to fend for themselves?

[Which she does know children can be resourceful, yet at the same time... It doesn't exactly sit well with her.]

It tends to be complicated enough without complicating matters further.

[His brow furrows, shaking his head.]

Negative. We're all here to look out for each other. Their safety's our responsibility.

[Because not everyone has had survival training. And not all kids are trained to fight a war they were created for.]

True enough. So if you ever feel the need to explore out that way, let us know beforehand. As far as I know, you can't contact anyone once you're away.

[Interesting. Not that she would go out of her way to ignore a child. She would aid anyone in trouble, but interactions with them have been severally limited. She could treat them like Peter and Rocket, albeit a bit nicer... Or perhaps like the sapling Groot.]

These devices have a range then- have their parameters been established?

[When in doubt, act as a lifeguard. Or get some practice in with the adults who act like children. Echo's had exposure to these options.]

They obviously work within Temba. [He then shrugs loosely.] I'm assuming they'd probably reach as far as the other city if things were working, but I've been told comms are still down over there.

[She deals with childish adults all the time... How they actually get anything done, Gamora sometimes wonders.]

I see. Thank you. I will keep that in mind when I decide to venture out there.

To keep an accounting. Our current population's changing faster than it has before.

And if someone doesn't want to be accounted for, can they?

...They can. As far as I know, no one is in charge to say otherwise.

Interesting. So it would be possibly for someone to stay under the radar here.

Which can both be a good or bad thing, depending on how you use it.

I was thinking how another may use it.
