[ Cobb's voice comes off camera because the image in the video is a speeder. He has yet to wash the Agrii symbol off it. The pink clashes with the yellow a little bit. It's parked outside the hangar, engine off so it's not spinning. Just hovering a few inches off the ground like speeder do. ]
Well. It seems the Agrii left me a gift. This beauty is mine from back home. Gonna clean that graffitti off. I built her myself. She's a modified 620C podracing engine I found in a junkyard in Mos Espa years ago and she's served me well. Don't know why she's here but I don't really care.
[ Finally, he turns the camera back to himself. Cobb's a little beat up. His face has healing bruises and cuts. Something happened but it hasn't dampened his joy any. ]
Those of you who wanted to build your own speeder, I'll let you take a look at mine. I can tell you how I built her. Not sure how technical I can get but I'll do my best.
Those of you who might need to get somewhere fast and far, riding with two is not comfortable but I've done it before. Might be possible to take folks around town. Don't think I can get her to the new town but maybe. Gotta be careful with fuel around here, you know. Might be worth trying.
If you hear me riding around later today, don't worry about it. Just stretching her legs.

[ He shrugs. That's just the fact of his life. Space is a mystery to him and starships even more so. ]
Small's good. You throw off the balance of a 620C and it'll throw off the revs. You screw that up and you're gonna explode.

I have a lot of experience with them. Fighting them, piloting them on occasion, crashing into them, scrapping them... Anyway. Yeah, I know, it's a pod racer engine, if you look at it wrong, it wants to explode, my family didn't let me race, but they couldn't stop me researching and learning and all the rest. Especially when I found out my father was the only human to win the Boonta Eve Race.
You want something like that to improve performance. Don't think we'll get a lot of TIEs here, but we might be able to knock up something similar.

[ He's a little suspicious though. This guys dad was the human that won? That kid left Tatooine, Cobb knew that much, but he had no idea what became of him. ]
Where you from, kid?
no subject
Anchorhead. It's due south of Mos Eisley, near the south-east end of the Jundland Wastes? My aunt and uncle had a moisture farm.
no subject
[ He nods a little. That makes some sense. ]
Didn't know anyone else had been grabbed from Tatooine. But you've probably been off planet before given how much you know about starships.

I left when I was nineteen. Empire killed my family, there was no reason to stay on. My best friend had already left for the Flight Academy and then on to the Rebellion.
no subject
You should talk with Poe. He's part of the Rebellion too. One of their best pilots, he says.
Guess you learned a lot of mechanics fixing up a moisture farm. Just brought that over to anything with an engine huh?
no subject
[ And if he was in the Rebellion and that good? Luke would know him. ]
Anything mechanical. Speeders, starfighters, droids, frankly, there's nothing I've found that I can't fix up. Or fly. Skywalkers fly.
no subject
[ He shrugs a shoulder. At this point, the time thing is not the weirdest thing that's happened to him. The name Skywalker though, that's interesting. He knows that name from Mos Espa. Kid was a brat. ]
Worked mostly on mining and oil refining equipment myself. Learned a lot about speeders and pod racers in my free time. And the usual vaporators and all that.
no subject
[ So what is Poe rebelling against? ]
Mos Pelgo's a mining settlement, from memory?
no subject
Yeah. Never got big like Mos Espa or Mos Eisley. [ And, if this kid had paid attention to the stories, that mining was done by slaves before the town got wiped off the map. ] But we're doing alright for ourselves now. Enough that I can build my own speeder for fun.

[ It's a pretty big thing. It was hard to miss it, even if you tried. It seems like a good reference point. ]
no subject
Leaving folks like myself and my town on the Outer Rim to protect what's ours on our own. Like always. [ There's just a little hint of bitterness in Cobb's tone. Rebellion's never done anything to help Tatooine and he doesn't expect the New Republic will either. ]

The second Death Star was destroyed five weeks ago.
[ There's heaviness in his voice and for a moment, his expression is... young and lost.
Then he shakes it off. ]
Tatooine doesn't want Empire, or Republic or anyone else coming in and telling it what to do. For a planet with no planetary government, they're a unified people against anyone else coming in.
no subject
I wouldn't mind a few starships to blast the last syndicates and slavers off the planet. But you're right. We aren't ones for government.
[ He chuckles at the truth of that. No government could tame Tatooine or her people. ]
Well kid, things aren't nice here but they're sure a hell of a lot easier than home. And sometimes our alien overseers will give gifts, I guess.
no subject
[ He has clothes and his lightsaber, what else could he need? It got him through most of the rebellion days. ]
... maybe a blaster wouldn't go amiss. Hunting food with a lightsaber isn't ideal.
no subject
[ Cobb says it the same way someone would if another stray cat showed up. ]
Cayde-6 is a good source for weapons. Not sure what he'll ask for if you want one from him but there's plenty of hunters running around here. They're usually willing to share what they get.
no subject
I am.
[ He's still getting used to saying that. ]
What do you do here? Aside from have a really cool speeder?
no subject
[ A whole temple of them at this point. ]
Ah, this and that. Fixing up some houses for folks to live in. There's some business in the mines I'm helping with. Making sure we've got a steady source of meat. Whatever might need doin' around here.
[ Jack of all trades, master of none that was Cobb Vanth. ]
no subject
[ Luke knows he has a lot of skills, but he's not sure how any of those are going to translate to here. ]
I'm guessing there's no real call for a fighter pilot. Or rebel cell leader.
no subject
You worked a moisture farm, you said? Bet you know a little of fixing things. Things can always use fixing around here. And you grew up on Tatooine. You know how to work hard. If you're willing to do hard work you'll be useful here.
no subject
[ He's in for a shock when that doesn't work so well with the Agrii technology. ]
Yeah. That I know how to do. And the Force makes moving stuff about a lot easier.
no subject
[ You've been volunteered for Cobb's community improvement initiative. ]
Appreciate the help.

[ Volunteered and claimed a payment. ]
