Keith looked up at the voice and then glanced at the bed.

"Oh... you claimed this one already?" He got up. "Sorry."

He kind of realizes that it's a jerk move. It's not as if any of his things were in the room... not as if he had any things here. Thank God his tricorder was on his person when they'd all gotten sent to the ships.

"I mean... it's probably not that big of a deal. All of the bunks look the same except for the captain's one."

Keith's expression darkened just a bit with the mention of the Captain's bunk, but he nodded all the same.

"Yeah, they do. But, it's still nice to know that someone else isn't sleeping in your bed, right?"

He'd been through the whole room claim thing a few times before already. He wasn't put out or anything. In fact, he started moving towards the door after picking up his black and red motorcycle jacket. Better hope Bones doesn't have an allergy to space wolves or snow leopards... There was a leopard cub that came out from under the bed, and there was a bit of bluish wolf fur on Keith's black t-shirt. There was also an empty knife sheath strapped to the back of his belt...

Bones would understand. He misses his captain too.

Then a freaking leopard cub comes out from under the bed and Bones is taken aback. "What the hell? Is that yours?" He has a lot of questions, but mostly why is there a leopard cub on this ship?

That was a part of it. There were other thing, too... like how it always ended up on his shoulders somehow...

"Huh?"

Tiny leopard cub is friendly, Bones! She comes over and rubs against the doctor's leg.

"Oh, yeah. That's Snow. I got her on some ice planet while I was in the Drift Fleet. She's harmless, and won't get any bigger."

Bones freezes, mostly from shock. A cub can't do much damage compared to an adult leopard, but it's still surprising, to say the least.

"That's an interesting pet," he says, watching as the cub weaves between his legs like a house cat would. "So if you were with Drift Fleet, that means you've been here a while, doesn't it?"

He's heard people talking about being all together before they landed on this planet.

"Yeah... a few years off and on. I've been home and back again a few times... I think." Keith shook his head. "It's kind of hard to keep track. Time got really messed up lately." He crouched, getting Snow's attention and she came to him. "Snow's pretty interesting, but you should meet Kosmo." Keith smirked a little.

"Really? You got to go home and then you came back?"

He can't imagine how annoyed he would be if he got to leave this place and then suddenly found himself back here again.

Bones watches as the leopard goes to Keith, then raises an eyebrow. "Do I even want to know what Kosmo is?"

"Yeah. Sometimes, it was pretty frustrating, but... not every time." It had been frustrating when he'd been pulled just after finding his mom again, but before he'd gotten any answers to his questions. But, it had been something of a relief the last time because he and Lance were back together. They weren't a couple back home...

Keith smiled a bit.

"Kosmo's a little bigger than Snow, but smaller here than back home. He's a teleporting cosmic wolf." The room was a bit small, so Keith refrained from trying to call the wolf to him for now. "I found him back home. He came to me in Drift Fleet, though, and it seems any pets we had there followed us here."

At least Lance wasn't on the ship... then they'd have an otter, a fish, and a miniature cow to add to the mix......

"I think I'd be pretty frustrated," he says in response.

Then they start talking about teleporting cosmic wolves and Bones is now on to that topic. "A what?" He appreciates him not having the wolf teleport in at that moment. Or ever, really. He puts his hand up, hopefully to keep Keith from doing that. "I believe you. At this point, there isn't much I won't believe."

Keith scrunched his brow a bit, and gave McCoy a knowing smile. Frustration was Keith's middle name. Dealing with something like this place when one had anger issues was sometimes a little difficult.

He smirked, though, at the reaction to his description of Kosmo. Scooping up Snow into his arms, he stood back up from his crouch.

"I think I've hit that point in my life, too." Even before he'd been in Drift Fleet...

"I was pretty skeptical before I joined Starfleet, and I'd like to think that I still am, but one only has to be told about an alternate version of you before you decide that there are some crazy things in the universe."

That wasn't even taking into account the other things he had gotten into after that first adventure on the Enterprise, like bringing Jim back to life by using Khan's blood.

Keith nodded a little.

"I haven't had that happen, yet, to me, but I've seen others... and met a few versions of people, too." He frowned a bit. "I think that's the weirdest part."

Meeting another version of Shiro back home had been weird, too... so he supposed he was already exposed to even that before really dealing with it in one of these kidnapped type of places.

"It's definitely weird," Bones agrees, "but there is at least scientific theories to support the possibility of there being alternate universes or timelines."

He takes a seat on the bed, hoping that Keith won't mind, since technically Bones is taking this room back as his anyway.

"Stuff like magic though, that definitely doesn't exist where I come from."

Keith raised an eyebrow at the magic comment.

"There's apparently an explanation for that, too, where I'm from. I don't fully get it, but it's pretty crazy. I didn't think all of that was possible, either, but..." He shrugged. "Yeah... I uh... it's a thing."

It could definitely be seen as magic.

Bones shrugs. "That's what some people have told me at least. At this point, as much as I'd like to continue to doubt everything that I've seen here, it gets exhausting. It's easier to just take whatever can't actually be proven at face value."

It's not something he ever thought he would have said, but he also never thought he'd be in this situation. This isn't an alternate timeline; it's another place entirely.

Keith nodded, a knowing look on his face.

"Yeah... that's kind of how I've been approaching things ever since I left Earth. There really isn't a better way to think about it."

He shrugged a little.

"Anyway, I should go grab another bed before there aren't any left." He gave Bones a nod. "Good meeting you. I'm Keith, by the way." He'd offer to shake hands, but his arms were a little full of snow leopard cub.

"McCoy... Leonard, I guess." He's used to being called 'Bones', but the nickname almost feels wrong here without Jim. "Nice to meet you too, as well as your..."

He motions to the cub in his hands. While not thrilled about sharing a ship with a predatory animal, at least it's only a baby and Keith seems to have a good handle on him.

Keith smiled a little.

"Her name's Snow."

Two predatory animals, if one was to count Kosmo the wolf. But, really... domestic cats and dogs were also technically predatory and carnivores. This wasn't much different... Right?

"I'll see you around."
