Temba Beach Party!

WHO: EVERYONE!!
WHERE: Temba Beach
WHAT: BEACH PARTY TIME!!
WHEN: noooooooow
Notes: Mix & Match the prompts as desired. Any format goes!
WARNINGS: Pride Birbs. It's Pride month. So. PRIDE BIRBS! Oh. And you may add your own warning labels to the respective threads, I suppose.

Isn't it amazing what people can achieve when several come together and pool their ideas and resources for a shared goal?

It certainly is in Jon's eyes, whose innate lack of creativity originally has gone as far as bringing some blankets to the beach and hoping for a good mood. What has ended up being set up on the bluish, almost purple sand of the beach is far beyond anything he would have imagined and he won't deny being glad he has reached out over the network with his little suggestion.

Of Barbecues, Grills and other Beverages
Do you remember Cobb asking for a grill to be made for him? Right. That grill can be found at the party. Kyle has offered to prepare burgers to be grilled along with whatever meat selection the diner has to offer and Clarice is the person to thank for the home made ice pops, created from native fruits such as glueberries and mangourd. Of course these are kept fresh under a parasol and in an insulated box mostly buried into the sun. That's how the majority of the drinks offered at this party are being kept cool as well.

If you want to catch one of those fat green lobsters roaming the beach as well and toss it onto the grill, you sure can try.

INTO THE OCEAN!!
You better bring your swimwear, because jumping into the water is an option. No actually dangerous creatures are this close to the shore, making swimming or potential swimming lessons very much possible.

Tony also ensured there is a little kiddie pool for the babies. And Cobb.

Someone brought an inflatable Eyeball?
Before anyone asks, it wasn't Jon. But it's there. An inflatable eye beach ball.

Any questions? Yes? Good.

Lounging in the Shade & Music
Parasols, blankets and a guitar borrowed from Cayde's bar. Sit down, relax, chat. And if you know how to play this instrument, you're very welcome to do so.

Let there be BIRBS
Have you wondered yet why those birds are in the banner for this party? It's because they are here.

At first they linger in the trees near the beach, watching and squawking and being colorful parrots. As a little time passes, they leave the safety of their trees and start coming over, sitting on parasols, hopping curiously between this oddly large amount of people gathering at their beach and in all likelihood attempting to steal a snack or two.

But if you pay close attention, you can also observe them swooping down at the nearby lobsters, easily picking them up and carry them back into the nearby forest. Apparently these birds aren't just colorful and curious they also hunt lobsters. Who could have known...

Don't forget the Caves
Actually not far from our little party waits the entrance to the caves. Take a wrong turn in them and you will find yourself in a large chamber filled with those energy crystals that make all your technology glow and go insane or result in your powers to fluctuate greatly. Take the right turn, and you find yourself at those mysterious hot springs only few know about.

To be fair, the actual party is at the beach, but who knows when the need for some privacy arises.

When it gets Dark we gather around the Rainbow Colored Fire Pit
While set up at the edge of the gathering, the fire pit Tony and Cayde have set up to have a bonfire in easily is one of the center pieces of the party. Benches and seats either brought over from Temba or crafted from different material are set up around it and once the sun begins to set and the bonfire gets lit along with the many torches set up around the party, the invitation to remain a little longer couldn't be clearer.

There's more to it than just a cozy fire, a pleasant atmosphere and the company of friends. Next to the fire pit sits a small box. In that box, wrapped in plain tissue paper, are what at first glance are little more than lumps of wax. But mixed into this wax are different chemicals and tossing these into the pit will result in the fire burning with different colors or even sparkle. Way to set the mood and linger as the party winds down.

Due to health concerns Jon does not recommend cooking any food over the chemically altered flames, thank you.

While Tony's hand in Jon's was clearly tense, he didn't immediately make to draw it away and deliberately tried to release the pressure, from his anxious glance around the fire and from the guilt that he had read into Jon's question and Jon's hold was clearly trying to redirect, in a sigh breathed down Jon's shoulder. He slipped away slightly, hooking one finger around Jon's instead, and he thanked Jon for his inclusion in the team in an abrupt kiss to his hair; not mechanically different than the one Tony had delivered before, but functionally more intimate, in Tony's estimation. It wasn't like anyone didn't know anymore, it had been made very clear to Tony that he didn't have the luxury of hiding, but that didn't make it feel any better to be exposed.

"Do you want to find out which esteemed member of the team blows their hand off with a firework first?" he offered, low and sultry near Jon's ear like he wasn't presenting an opportunity to mangle the beachgoers, the growing slant of his smirk clear in his voice.

Tony's answer was a very self-satisfied grin, sure that shouldn't have even been a question. Jon should have been very aware of what a fan Tony was of fireworks, and he had already done half the work for Tony with his colour-changing compounds. It had been a team effort, which Jon should have been proud of.

Tony gave Jon's hand a tug of warning so Tony could bounce up to his feet, then tip his head back toward the scattered mess that Tony had made of his things around the tent to invite Jon to come along and make his safety assessment. "We'll handle them very professionally," Tony blatantly lied. "And if it looks like its going off the rails, we'll give them to Cayde."

"Cayde is an explosive. You have to lean into it," Tony replied with confidence, kicking away a watergun that had been dropped in his path to the tent. It had been something of a storage area since Tony had arrived, at first just a self-contained bubble that Tony had popped up into place and secured with a few spikes into the ground where it started to turn from sand to solid earth the night before, then rapidly overtaken when Tony haphazardly deposited his stuff. By then, the clothes that he had been wearing during the water fight were still damp and hanging in a tree overhead, but the guns themselves were scattered through the sand like they had been tossed vaguely in the right direction as they had been used up. Inside the tent, still pinned open, there were obviously several water bottles that Tony had brought, and some bundles of what could have been clothes. Tony drew one of those out, revealing that it was one of his sweaters, and immediately forgot about it as he rolled back up onto his feet to turn back to Jon. With the fire behind him, Tony could see clearly where the shirt hung wide and generous around his body, and Tony impulsively slid a hand under the fabric to smooth along the line of Jon's waist and around his back with a smile, leaving him holding the bundle of his sweater between them. "Did I tell you yet how exquisite you are today?" he muttered, and it was mostly genuine and only a little bit because Tony wasn't sure exactly how volatile the explosives that he held were.

It was Tony's turn to start to open his mouth, only to snap it shut again with his nose wrinkled in confusion and his own wry grin. "First of all, yes, and it's very annoying," he said, because Jon might have looked cute on the beach but would have been undoubtedly cuter if Tony's fingers wandering back over the jut of Jon's hip and tickling gently down his belly didn't have to stop at the waistband of his shorts. "And second of all, if that's you trying to flirt with me," Tony continued, because he genuinely wasn't sure what Jon meant, "I appreciate the effort, but you really should be taking this seriously. These aren't toys, you know. Focus."

With his fireworks purloined and Jon stepping away, Tony could only sulk, bereft, hands to himself. They didn't last there, one immediately jumping up to thumb back toward the tent to announce, "One more of those, if the first one doesn't knock you out. Give me ten minutes, I'll bring you some more, boss, I've got a technical overcharge applied to making things that blow up. It's a talent."

Tony was a few steps behind Jon then as they came back past the fire pit from the darkened treeline and toward the gentle lap of the water, looking very much like he was cautiously stalking after Jon despite the attempt at casually tucking his fidgeting hands into his pockets. The game they were playing, or what he was meant to do to recover from this punishment, after Jon's coy looks was not clear yet to Tony, and he didn't entirely trust Jon not to throw the whole bundle into the water. There were a dozen fireworks in there, and a set of matches that weren't that easy to make, so he kept his distance as he said, "Sorry for the disappointment, I put most of that ridiculous into the water guns, I really thought that was going to have a bigger impact."

Some of the devices in the bundle just looked like dynamite, with a fuse at one end and an entirely untreated stick that it was tied to. Others very much looked like small rockets, heavy based to stand on their own and with distinct chambers and wells to be ignited. Between them and the water guns, Tony was very much in his natural element, and breathed a laugh of relief that it had so far resulted in joy instead of war crimes.

"Ah--no," he said, risking straying closer to lean over Jon as long as they were chatting and Jon didn't seem to be testing him, to see what he was wondering about. "The lighter fluid I made is mostly the juice of that red fruit, insanely combustible, found that out in a very normal way, but, so--I left that, the lighter, at the library, in that room with the big table, for now. Uh." That only kind of explained the matches, Tony did realize, and didn't explain the lighter, either, not directly. "I made those before I had the parts for the lighter. And it's still easier to light the forge when we're yanked away for a couple weeks and no one is around to keep it on. Really is a pain. I don't know how they expect us to get anything done around here."

"For--now," Tony started haltingly, not sure how to explain that he didn't know where else to put it, and was very glad for Jon giving him the opportunity to snort and promise, "Only with passion." He held his hand to his heart for a moment then, hoping that wasn't the kind of thing Jon actually anticipated anyone he trusted doing to him more than once in his life, appreciating Jon's smirk but still unable to conceptualize that kind of trauma and how it manifested. Maybe Tony wasn't supposed to joke back about it yet.

Once again very happy to have the distraction, Tony finally knelt down with Jon to start drawing out the fireworks as well, and swept out a trench in the sand to line them up next to each other. He did have a system and it was a good excuse to busy his hands until he was fairly confident he wasn't so obviously touched by Jon's compliment. "Those colours you were playing with were easy to work with. They just needed a delivery system," he said, but shot Jon a quick smile of appreciation as he pointed out the fuse meant to connect them in a row. They didn't have a computer out here to mechanize the process, so they were going to have to do it the old fashioned way.

They were really racking up those collaborations, almost like they worked well together, and Tony breathed a soft laugh and bumped his shoulder to Jon's for it. "They were?" he asked with some baffled surprise, having never really thought about how the mothcats might be taking any of Jon's chemical experimentations and if there was a point where it was actually dangerous for the animals to be coexisting like that. Once Tony had accepted that it didn't seem to be dangerous for Jon, he had stopped thinking about it. "Maybe that's why she followed you home in the first place, she could smell the chemistry on you. Very cerebral animals, mothcats, lots of respect for the hard sciences," he said as he stretched up onto his feet again, leaving Jon to finish the arrangement as he appeared to have picked it up quickly. His robe went whispering off of his shoulders, pooling in the dark sand and leaving Tony in the gold skin that he had been swimming in. "Addictive personalities, though, the whole group of them, you should talk to them about that," he observed.

"That's normal," Tony replied, still sounding very authoritative about what nonsense made it out of his mouth despite Jon trying to gently give him actual animal facts that Tony was not likely to remember anyway. "I was mostly hanging around for your cute face at first, too, but the rest of you isn't so bad." He dropped his scholarly posturing as Jon joined him on his feet to grin instead, giving a gesture of disbelief for the complaint about his sartorial choices, you don't like it?. "We could swap," he offered, then cleared his throat as he remembered that wasn't the first time he'd tried teasing Jon like that. Maybe that one should stay in the vaults for a little while.

Busily, he knelt by the fireworks again at Jon's prompting, striking a match in the snap of his gold fingers to set to the fuse. He stepped quickly away again, where he froze to watch the spark long enough to feel reasonably confident that it was set on a reliable journey, then turned his dazzling grin on Jon again with a gesture out at the water. They didn't have a lot of time before the first rocket launched, but Tony promised, "You don't even have to get your feet wet," with a hand out and ready to pick Jon up out of the sand, an entirely altruistic offer for the best seats for the show and not at all a challenge to Jon drawing away from him.

Jon wasn't given much of a chance to regret that choice as Tony lead him in an impatient jog across the sand to try to outrun that first charge, which was never going to be possible. They hadn't even hit the water yet when Tony heard it launch behind him, and he twisted as they went crashing into the waves to try to track its ascent, blindly wading out into the water with mostly his hold on Jon keeping him upright with any confidence. By the time the firework burst, it was high enough that the resounding crack across the ocean didn't reach them until they were knee-deep in the water, and another rocket had gone whistling up into the sky. The lights that were bright enough to obscure the stars reflected their shimmering colours on the water around them as they came streaking back down toward the ground and burnt out in a nostalgic waft of gunpowder that was quickly drawn out with the current. Tony watched the second burst with his neck craned toward the sky before he realized he had stopped and was still squeezing Jon's hand, and flashed a smile at him with gleeful pride.
