A good day to you all.

My name is Lark. I have not has the chance nor the pleasure of making the acquaintance of many of you here. I arrived shortly before the spell took hold, and as such have been woefully remiss in making introductions. What is more, I do not know who I may have met in that spell is truly here.

Therefore I have chosen to make myself visible on this 'communication device' in an attempt to meet, or perhaps reacquaint myself with, those who reside here.

[The woman pauses, contemplating for a moment, clearly getting her thoughts in order.]

I would also like to know if there are those present who work with thread-crafts. Sewing, weaving, spinning, knitting, making clothes. In my presence here it is my hope that I can use my skills and experience to make more thread, yarn, and cloth from the glownies, and perhaps anything similar to cotton or flax if we are to find those. However it is a lot of work for a single person to do, and I wished to see if there are others who might have the skills to assist me, or who might wish to learn them.

And, might I say from experience, if nothing else I would be happy to teach everyone how to spin thread. It is truly quite relaxing once you have the practice at it. But also because I think it would be valuable for me to have a small spool of thread made by every person willing to do so, that might be used for locating spells if people were to wander off into the wilds and go missing. Or, failing that, to have people carry around a spool of finished thread for a few days to charge with your native energy for the same purpose.

Ah... [Keith ducked his head a little.] Sorry... Some stuff happened back home recently with a witch that... it didn't go so well.

[Oh, that was rather distressing.]

There are those who do not like magic users in my world either. But one must understand that each practitioner of the arts has their own power and their own things that drive them.

[He was definitely trying not to be that guy. Hence why he was asking questions about it. He was trying to get information before passing full judgement, even if he sounded a little skeptical to start with. Keith tended to start off being grumpy anyway, though, so nothing personal.

Plus, the idea of a locator spell in case people went missing was pretty tempting considering all the times he's had people go missing on him...]

I've never spun thread before. It's usually pre-made by others by the time I see it where I'm from.

Yes, that is the way that many people, even in my world, experience life. But I could teach you. It is a good way to center one's thoughts and even to meditate.

Well, in the summer months I'm quite fond of an afternoon nap, and one really shouldn't spin by minimal light, so I try to do it in the mornings or evenings. But I can make exceptions to whatever time you might have.

You don't use lamps?

[Keith looked confused.]

Well the light cast by a single oil lamp is rarely sufficient to work by. One would at least need a well built fire.

We have electric here... sometimes. When the power plant's working properly.

Electric. Ah yes, Cayde has explained that. The thing which makes something like a light orb glow in the ceiling. You can make things like oil lamps with that?

[Wow, okay... old school...]

Oh, yeah. They're brighter, too.

[Very old school. But what can you do about that?]

I'm very glad for it. It allows me to work under worse conditions than I am used to, and without having to make crystal orbs.

Crystal orbs?

[Okay, so now it was Keith's turn to be curious again...]

Yes. They're safer than oil lights or candles at night.

So, like... you can make crystals glow or something.

I mean, yeah. I can see how glowing crystals would be safer than anything with an open flame.

Electric lamps are like that, though, though you do have to be careful not to shock yourself. If you're not used to them, that can be a bit of a hazard.

I could infuse a crystal or glass orb with magic, yes. It's less easy for me than an academic mage, but it's possible.

[Would someone even want those? These electric lights eem so much better.]

Shock myself? LIke with a storm?

Sounds like they'd be a good back up if the power fails.

[Keith nodded.]

Probably not as severely as actually being struck by lightning, but it'll still hurt pretty bad.

They are. Sadly with the other work I must do, I cannot spare the power for them.

[Lark chuckled.]

I'm aware of how a shock feels, even if I've not had a really bad one. ONe of my charges was a weather mage.

Are they difficult to make?

[Harder than spinning thread?

But he kind of smirked a little.]

Well, then you're all set.

[Well, complicated in a whole different way.]

They are not too hard when you have practice and the skill for it.

Well, yeah... I mean, I guess that makes sense. I was just curious if someone could help you with it, that's all.

Someone could, but they would need to have magic, and be willing to work together with me.

[And so far as Lark could tell, magic was a very rare gift here. Very rare indeed.]

Right. Of course.

[Keith nodded.]

So it's more a natural thing than a learned thing.

Indeed. But there are always people that, for one reason or another, have a natural gift for some medium or another. Magic is merely mine.
