A good day to you all.

My name is Lark. I have not has the chance nor the pleasure of making the acquaintance of many of you here. I arrived shortly before the spell took hold, and as such have been woefully remiss in making introductions. What is more, I do not know who I may have met in that spell is truly here.

Therefore I have chosen to make myself visible on this 'communication device' in an attempt to meet, or perhaps reacquaint myself with, those who reside here.

[The woman pauses, contemplating for a moment, clearly getting her thoughts in order.]

I would also like to know if there are those present who work with thread-crafts. Sewing, weaving, spinning, knitting, making clothes. In my presence here it is my hope that I can use my skills and experience to make more thread, yarn, and cloth from the glownies, and perhaps anything similar to cotton or flax if we are to find those. However it is a lot of work for a single person to do, and I wished to see if there are others who might have the skills to assist me, or who might wish to learn them.

And, might I say from experience, if nothing else I would be happy to teach everyone how to spin thread. It is truly quite relaxing once you have the practice at it. But also because I think it would be valuable for me to have a small spool of thread made by every person willing to do so, that might be used for locating spells if people were to wander off into the wilds and go missing. Or, failing that, to have people carry around a spool of finished thread for a few days to charge with your native energy for the same purpose.

A valuable skill indeed. I have known many people who needed another to repair their own clothing, not that there is shame in that.

Spinning sounds like a nice chill thing to do. I'd be happy to learn.

In a city that doesn't have any other ability to make cloth, that's quite a skill. Where I'm from grisha magic is put on the cloth they wear to make it bulletproof. Is that possible with your spells?

In response I find that my first question for you must be what a bullet is, so that I might determine if it's possible for me to work a suitable spell into cloth.

On my world, I was often on my own. Didn't always have access to someone else to sew it. [Plus the whole creed thing.] It's been handy. But no, there's no shame in not knowing how.

I suppose the level of comfort that I have in the operation of this device derives from the glowing ball of knowledge I touched which granted me deeper knowledge than Billy was able to instruct me with.

[Which could easily be read as the Comms data point instilled some confidence in her.]

I would be glad to join your group to see what it is like. However you recent public invitation seemed to speak of displays of combat prowess. As an Earth Dedicate, it is not an area in which I have great interest.

But spinning I will gladly teach. I shall see if I can't make another drop spindle. They are simple enough if I have the right materials. Yes, working wood is not my talent, but I shall endeavor.

Cayde! It is a true pleasure to see you once again. I am doing my best to settle in. The 'ship' I am on is quite crowded so I am trying to find myself a place in that hotel building. It is dreadfully clean and there are no windows suitable to making myself a work room. Truly deplorable conditions, but I have known worse and will adjust.

You did thank me. And if you know where furniture can be found, I would gladly join you in seeking it.

I have met a lovely young man named Shiro who thinks, with some work, he may be able to help me put together a loom.

I am glad you had someone to teach you. In my world there are many who feel that it is a task suitable only for women, and thus men and boys are not taught it. Which is good work for seamstresses and tailors, but still a sad state of affairs.

We do train in combat, and that is traditional. We also do sitting mediation, and practice lots of other uses for our connection to the Force that doesn't have anything to do with combat.

There's a...replicator. I don't actually know how it works. I think someone with the Engineering data point would be the person to ask. But I think it might be able to duplicate tools.

When you have a gathering that is less about combat, I would happily join to see how your beliefs are manifested.

A replicator? I can almost derive what it might mean from the word alone, but I'm intrigued and confused.

Uh. Well, I'm not sure what kind of weapons you know about already, so I'm figuring you at least know what a knife is. Imagine a really tiny knife that can be thrown at hundreds of miles an hour each time. A bullet is able to penetrate things until it loses momentum. Things like wood and some softer metals or muscle and bone.

[There's some clear fumbling with the communication device, as Moonshade tries to figure out if it's actually recording, and the message comes while the camera is pointed toward her throat, lips visible but eyes not.]

My name is Moonshade, and I have some experience with how cloth is made--carding, spinning, weaving, sewing. I'd be glad to make you a spool of thread, and to help overall. My primary medium, however, is leather. I think if you and I work together, you with fiber and me with hides, we can help keep everyone here clothed.

[A pause.]

I wonder, if I work some of my wolf-friend's fur into the spool of thread I give you, would it help you locate him as well?

[There's another fumble, as she figures out how to end the recording--this offers a better view of her face and pointed ears as she squints at the device.]

Well now that is a distressing image to create, worse than even a Boom-Stone I fear. So something like the projectile from a bow and arrow or a catapult but smaller and far faster. I would have to think on it, and experiment greatly, but in the end I am limited to the things that the thread and cloth takes to, and it's possible that my magic would not turn such a thing. It's more suited for promoting health, repelling disease, enhancing healing salves and potions, durability, things like that.

[Honestly, she offers him a grateful smile for treating her like she wouldn't know even the concept of a bow and arrow. She is already certain that her experience of the world and tools is so dreadfully far behind everyone else that it's probably safe for them to assume she knows nothing and give the clearest description they can.]

I have no real skill with hides, but I am glad over the presence of someone who is good with it. I do know some of the materials for curing, I can try and help you find some.

[The woman is missing someone? Lark's heart goes out to her.]

If I can get a spool of new thread you would not even need to work their fur in. Merely carry around the spool and focusing thoughts upon whom I would seek. I can make a map, or attempt to.

I have a few small bits of prepared wool I could spin, or I can try and work with glownie wool. Unfortunately no carding boards seem to have come with me.

Oh, his fur's going to end up in it anyway, given how much he sheds in hot weather. And it was winter where I'm from, so he's going to lose a lot of fur very quick. I almost wonder if it'd be worth trying to spin some of it on its own, for fun.

[As in, she's not missing the big old beast, thankfully.]

I'm curious about these 'glownies', and how fine a fabric can be made from their wool. Perhaps we can meet sometime to experiment with it? I'm glad there's another maker here so we can trade ideas with one another.

Wait, you mean to tell me that you actively have a wolf here?

[Lark didn't even know that was possible. Consider her shocked.]

I am not certain how well wolf fur will go into thread as I've never attempted it, but it would be a lovely experiment.

[Oh this woman definitely is high in Lark's esteem already.]

They are a strange hybrid of a pony and a sheep I think, but their wool glows while it is attached to them. And once I have enough of their wool spun to consider weaving, and I have a loom, I intend to see just how nice the fabric might be.

Yes, Steadypaw's here with me. Which is good; I wouldn't want to attempt to hunt unfamiliar animals for their hides and meat by myself. Even with him, it's a bit of a scary idea, since I didn't arrive with my bow.

[Moonshade's finally gotten the camera pointed properly at her face, her dark eyes glittering under the fringe of her bangs.]

I'm glad to help you with gathering wool and weaving, but I've never made a loom. Do we have enough wood for the task, here?

Alas, I have no bow to offer you. Perhaps someone here might be able to construct one for you.

[Lark tries not to comment when she gets a full view of the woman's face. Those ears are not something she was prepared for, but she's seen a woman with blue skin so this isn't much.]

There are nearby woods. Acquiring and seasoning wood would take time, but it is possible. And there are those who care for the glownies who will no doubt have been gathering SOME wool. But alas, no preparation of it. I shall have to create new carding tools.

So it'll take some work before we can even get to making fabric. But once we have all the tools, we'll be in good shape to work with what's available.

A worthy endeavor and a good purpose to have, here. With luck, others will be able to help as well, at least with getting us set up.

[It's better not to say that Lark could make fabric with magic. It's too draining to fathom if an emergency were to arise]

That would be good luck and I expect if we lack luck, they will at least offer the kindness of attempting. There are steps we must take, and I shall endeavor to do so.

To not work with thread is almost like not turning a cartwheel from time to time. I just can't do it. So I'll find an answer.

[ He grins in the camera, scratching at his beard. ]

Well, I can knit and sew, mend clothes, do a little embroidery too. Been helping tend to the glownies too. Be happy to help you out.

Been told by the women back home my fingers are too rough for spinning. They'll get caught on the wool.

[Cobb. Lark looks surprised as she sees him on her screen, and then half apologetic.]

Cobb, forgive me I didn't know you were real. I beg your apologies for my behavior in the confines of the spell. I had awoken in that place with no memory of the life I was supposed to have lived there. I was very afraid. It is my hope that you will forgive me for my behavior.

[But she takes the lien about the spinning with a nod. She's known this to happen before.]

What sort of thread did you use to embroider?

I feel the same way about leather, truly. I've taught some the craft, but to most of them it's not a way of life like it is for me. Our tribe celebrates those who are drawn to making things--Treestump's fascination with metal and making weapons is as welcome as my leatherworking, and Redlance's treeshaping as well.

[She pauses, a mild troubled expression on her face.]

I wish I understood why I was the only member of my tribe brought here.
