A good day to you all.
My name is Lark. I have not has the chance nor the pleasure of making the acquaintance of many of you here. I arrived shortly before the spell took hold, and as such have been woefully remiss in making introductions. What is more, I do not know who I may have met in that spell is truly here.
Therefore I have chosen to make myself visible on this 'communication device' in an attempt to meet, or perhaps reacquaint myself with, those who reside here.
[The woman pauses, contemplating for a moment, clearly getting her thoughts in order.]
I would also like to know if there are those present who work with thread-crafts. Sewing, weaving, spinning, knitting, making clothes. In my presence here it is my hope that I can use my skills and experience to make more thread, yarn, and cloth from the glownies, and perhaps anything similar to cotton or flax if we are to find those. However it is a lot of work for a single person to do, and I wished to see if there are others who might have the skills to assist me, or who might wish to learn them.
And, might I say from experience, if nothing else I would be happy to teach everyone how to spin thread. It is truly quite relaxing once you have the practice at it. But also because I think it would be valuable for me to have a small spool of thread made by every person willing to do so, that might be used for locating spells if people were to wander off into the wilds and go missing. Or, failing that, to have people carry around a spool of finished thread for a few days to charge with your native energy for the same purpose.

[Honestly, she offers him a grateful smile for treating her like she wouldn't know even the concept of a bow and arrow. She is already certain that her experience of the world and tools is so dreadfully far behind everyone else that it's probably safe for them to assume she knows nothing and give the clearest description they can.]

Durability would probably be exactly what the cloth needs to do. A fabric that would be lightweight but shield the wearer from harm, either from a blade, a bullet, or just plain energy.

I've never attempted to make a fabric to turn a blade. I've always felt it was a sort of thing more suited to leather or metal. I know Frostpine could work in spells to make metal more durable, but I suppose it would not hurt to try. However, I can make no guarantees of results, and it could take a while. In addition to weaving spells of protection into the cloth itself, which I cannot do unless I have a means by which to weave, I would have to work them into the threads when spinning, and likely create infusions and oils to work into the final product.
[So, in a sense, her magic was not like that which he had known. It was no easy path, for she would be essentially creating a new discipline of magic anew, and she would not let it overwhelm the general need for clothing.]
Energy as in something like a lightning bolt?
no subject
That would be a lot of energy, but the concept would still be the same.
[ A beat passes and Kaz tilts his head to the side a little. ]
Would you be able to locate anyone that kept a spool of thread in their pocket for, say, 3 days?
no subject
[The question earned a smile from her.]
Likely yes. It would only take a day if they were magically inclined, though, as my magic would raise theirs from the thread.
no subject
Interesting. How many spools of thread do you already have?
no subject
Only two that I use for my personal spellcrafting. I would be spinning more, but my mage kit, to my embarrassment now, lacks wool carders. An oversight I now realize. Until I can card and prepare more of our wool for spinning, I cannot make more thread. And even then I will be slow as I only have one spindle. Others have expressed interest in spinning, but I'll have to make the tools.

[ While he's fully aware it's actually the Atroma that are causing the most problem, he's not saying it on the Network. It probably won't stop them from knowing eventually but it will help slow them down. ]
At least being able to find someone that was lost would be helpful.
[ Don't be fooled either, Lark, while that is still true, Kaz has more than one motive. ]

[He is an interesting young man, and frankly, the fact that it was unlikely that someone else could use threads gathered for this purpose, well, she'll let it slide.]
When I have enough thread, I will see what can be done. It's possible they will need renewed, but likely only on a rather lengthy basis as people grow and change with the flow of seasons.
no subject
[ His tone is dry as dust for that. ]
Does renewed mean the thread needs to be carried around for 3 days again?

So you may still have to add the hair to a spool of thread for using it to locate someone?
no subject
no subject
Okay then you wouldn't add hair to a spool of thread, but you could still use a hair to locate somone?
no subject
Forgive me, but perhaps we should not be hung up on the idea of hair.
no subject
Alright. Does your magic surround thread and textiles, or is there other things it can be used for?
no subject
Threads and fibers and textiles are where my magic is strongest, but I can use the tools of the crafts to guide or enhance my power. Especially the drop spindle.
