This is new for me. OK?

WHO: Bucky Barnes, OTA
WHERE: Fountain, Network, The Deep End
WHAT: Arrival
WHEN: Early June
WARNINGS: TBD

Arrival
Bucky was still reeling from having that information forcibly shoved into his mind, and he took a half step back, eyes narrowing at the data point as he tried to push down the memories it evoked.

He had to focus.

Aliens. It just had to be aliens. Sam was never going to give it a rest now. The damn 'Big Three'.

He rubbed a hand over his brow and sighed, lifting it again to spot a figure in the distance.

"Hey- wait up-" he called, not sure if they were a fellow 'He Row' or one of the jerks that had brought him here, but either way- he wanted a word.

Network

[Bucky looks a bit uncomfortable on camera, offering a stiff smile for a moment, before quickly abandoning it.]

Hey- uh...

[He frowns and tries to wave an insistent mothkitten away, but the gleam of his arm keeps drawing it back.]

Someone wanna catch me up on this place?

The Deep End

His fingers drummed on the countertop, frowning in thought. Of course when he'd finally reached a place where he was ready to explore opening up he got pulled away to fight someone else's fight.

It didn't feel right to be so bitter, he's put a lot of bad out into the universe, if some force out there wanted to make him to continue to make amends for that could he really object?...Definitely. But it didn't do much to help the conflict in his mind.
He tried to think about what the doc might say. She'd never dealt with anything quite like this, but that was true for most everything they talked about, and she did all right.

"...How long have you been here?" he asked, breaking that long silence with a sudden turn of his head to acknowledge he wasn't alone, taking a long sip of his drink.

He matched the gesture with his own glass, tossing the drink back. "Eh, guess you could say that. I am often in and out so you are perfectly free to help yourself in the instance of the latter."

Maybe that made for a terrible bartender, but Cayde's main intent had been to set a place up that people could hang out whenever they wanted, knock back a few drinks, contemplate the fish, whatever.

The Exo held out a gloved hand. "Name's Cayde." He never did get an actual name from the Soldier, and it felt kind of like cheating to go off of previous faces and unusual city-warps.
deal_me_in: (I got this!)

Well, there was always the red stuff.

Cayde gave him a nod at that, grinning back. Bucky, Soldier, well, it shouldn't be too confusing. At least this one knew how to smile. He wasn't sure if it counted what with the whole city-warp.

"So, assuming you got the basic rundown, anything else you need to know? Not that I'm promising answers, but I can try."
deal_me_in: (So everything is gone)

[personal profile] deal_me_in 2021-06-11 04:48 pm (UTC)(link)
"Thankfully not! I mean, if we're talking about Hive Wizards? Annoying, those guys," Cayde snorted, shaking his head. He was quick to grin again.

"But~ there are at least several magic users and one Warlock." He paused, reconsidering. "Wait, did the kid consider himself a wizard? I know his brother said he'd take offense being called a warlock for some reason but that's not the warlock I'm talking about..." He waved his hands around. "Anyway! Still people that might technically apply under the non-Hive wizard wizard category."
deal_me_in: (That's good right?)

[personal profile] deal_me_in 2021-06-12 09:55 pm (UTC)(link)
The Exo shrugged. "Would you have felt better if I just said yes?"
deal_me_in: (Then I shot that guy)

[personal profile] deal_me_in 2021-06-13 02:37 am (UTC)(link)
"Heh. I know how that is," Cayde chuckled. "Can't let that weigh you down or people'll call you gramps or something. Gotta warn you though- you can't be thrown by people telling you there's wizards around here or you'll just be tripped up on every other weird thing that might happen."
deal_me_in: (This is my serious face)

[personal profile] deal_me_in 2021-06-14 10:34 pm (UTC)(link)
That said a lot about the guy. "Well, you got me beat there," Cayde grinned. "I mean, I've got centuries on me and no one's called me 'gramps' so clearly there's something going on there," he teased.

"Nothin' like experience though. Hope that holds, then. Because things can and will get downright weird."
deal_me_in: (Worse case - you die)

[personal profile] deal_me_in 2021-06-15 01:48 am (UTC)(link)
"Real cute," Cayde snorted before smirking as he adds, "Not wise insulting the guy who runs the bar."

As for weirdness, he wasn't quite sure where to start. Last month had been a bit of an anomaly, but if someone was taking advantage of the abilities people had in order to stir things up, the Exo wasn't sure he wanted to know how it would go. "Maybe the random space excursions aren't so strange, but following some siren's call to board the ships or head somewhere in mass is kind of disturbing. If we're lucky we just wake up finding ourselves elsewhere. Mmm, then again maybe that's not really lucky so much as disorienting. Wait no-"

He snapped his fingers. "Agrii cuisine. That will throw you right off. Everything looks like something but it all tastes like peanut butter."
deal_me_in: (That's good right?)

[personal profile] deal_me_in 2021-06-15 02:18 am (UTC)(link)
"Uh-huh. How many people would let you get away with that without getting you smacked?" Cayde countered, although he was still smirking as he said it.

"Honestly it doesn't sound that crazy or bad saying it now, but when things happen, you're kinda left to roll with the punches. Sometimes we're given explanations of what we're supposed to do, but a lot of the time they aren't too helpful."
deal_me_in: (Then I shot that guy)

The Exo raised a hand threateningly, but obviously playing around as that grin was still in place. He lowered it on the counter again.

"Oh good. I think everyone here has a certain sort of flexibility since no one's cracked yet. You'll fit right in."
