Every hero movie needs a party

((ooc: This is a general mingle post. Go forth and do whatever you want! I've set the scene for the party but what you do in it is up to you! Want to party and schmooze with some rich folks? Go for it! Want to be a bad guy and try to steal shit from under said rich people's noses? Fabulous! Want to be a hero and stop said bad guys. Awesome! Want to brood and sulk like the dark angsty DC character you've always wanted to be? You do you, boo. Go forth and have fun!))

Maybe you're well to do in the city. Maybe you just know a guy who knows a guy. Or maybe you just have the right connections and heard it through the grapevine. One way or another, you've heard about the party of the month. Padme Naberrie Amidala, on behalf of the Stark Industries Board of Directors, has planned the finest fundraising event of her career to help pay for the new wing on the children's hospital... And maybe some starving children Tony wants to save.

Arrival

The entrance sets the stage for the whole event. Lit posts leading up to a wide circular doorway. The red carpet from the sidewalk is lined with paparazzi looking to snap some primo pictures of the attendees. Pose for the cameras, mingle, or just grab a drink from one of the waitstaff as you head inside.

Dinner is Served

The tables are set with fine place settings and beautiful center pieces. Most of the room is decked out in black and white, so as to not draw attention to the lovely colored gowns worn by many of the attendees. The gourmet meal has several options to satisfy everyone. The deserts are even more elaborate. Grab a bite and socialize. Or steal a seat or a plate when no one's looking. I'm not the boss of you.

Time to Socialize

There might not be a formal dance floor but the string quintet is playing some lovely music while the guests mingle. Now's the time to grab a glass of champagne or something from the bar. Snag some fancy looking hors d'oeuvres from a wandering server and spend time with your fellow citizens of this fine city.

Auction!

It is a fundraiser, after all. Aside from the cost to get in (unless you're a filthy freeloader who snuck in the back door), there is also a silent auction set up for attendees. But there are no gift baskets or wreathes in this auction. Nay, my friends. There is a reason there are guards at the door. This auction includes such things as Rolex watches, diamond necklaces, ski trips to the Andes and other fancy rich people things.

But the cherry on top is Tony Stark's contribution. A car that mysterious billionaire Din Djarin is rumored to have his eye on. The car has somehow been brought into the event and is on display for anyone to admire. But remember, that car did belong to Tony Stark, so none of you villains even think about trying to steal it!

The Bar

Every formal event has to have a bar for people tired of champagne or those who just want to be antisocial and run away for a while. Does this really need any more description than that?

"Yeah, I pull it off all right, don't I?" he teases, turning in a circle to show it off. "Should've gone into the Secret Service or one of those 007 gigs where I get to dress up all the time."

"You do that." He does; not only does the suit fit very well, it doesn't particularly stand out, either. Poe's managed that balance of looking sharp while still being able to blend in; for his job, it's essential. Bucky hadn't even noticed him until he was at his side, after all. He's still thankful for the rescue.

A quick look to make sure there's no one to overhear them, and he leans close anyway, keeping his next words private. "I dunno, think you'd also do good in a gig where you undressed all the time."

Oh. Poe arches a brow and bites back a surprised laugh.

"You there's only so many jobs where that's an option, and I don't think your handlers would approve." Because Poe's otherwise *clearly* an easily approved choice.

[sinistral]

"Oh, they definitely wouldn't approve." It's not even a question; Bucky would be in so much hot water. It'd likely be even worse for anyone he was with. Truth be told, that's a large part of the reason why he's avoided the idea of a relationship; he doesn't know if he can put someone else through all that.

Poe doesn't seem bothered by it at all though, and for Bucky that's largely new. And exciting. "Too bad. Guess that means you woudn't consider a private show?"

"Well a private show's a different matter entirely," Poe argues with an easy smile, toying with his tie like he might start then and there. "If you're not busy after I could certainly make time for you?" he adds with a hum. "Looking's not against the rules."

[sinistral]

"Fuck you know how to tempt a guy." Not that either one of them would encourage any sort of undressing in a place like this, but the temptation and the tease are half the fun. "Don't think I'll be busy."

That is, unless something happens at the event, but Bucky knows better than to tempt fate by saying that out loud.

"Yeah I'm pretty good at it," he muses with a laugh, "Mmm, well maybe we'll have to reconnect when the evening's over and see if that's still true," he offers, a promising glint in his eye.

No promises spoken aloud though. Things can get turned upside in a second.

"Until then. And I'm not complaining about getting to watch you work a room." Not the way Bucky has to work the room, but still important. Perhaps even more important, because there's no auction at all if the goods go missing. That's likely only part of Poe's responsibility tonight. zReally, it's no wonder SHIELD wants him here; he's one of the best.

"I'll try to put on a good show," Poe promises with a parting wink, "Don't make me have to come rescue you again, Captain," he calls back with a little more open teasing.

Bucky's tempted to return that comment but they've lingered for long enough; they both have responsibilities that don't include talking each other out of their clothes. He gives a jaunty little salute, preparing to go his own way for the party. "Do my best, Agent."
