WHO: Lauri-Ell and You
WHERE: All Around
WHAT: A Day In The Life of a Security Woman
WHEN: Mid April
WARNINGS: small possibility of a structural collapse and getting trapped under it.
1. Queen of Fitness | Civics Center Fitness Rooms
Dawn. Lauri-Ell returns from her patrol routine to the specific place she always to be found in the early morning. The former soldier had been taking care to restore the fitness focused areas of the Civics Center in the past months, and the space definitely showed it now. The time on Coruscant had been helpful in fitting her place better to her tastes. Now instead of worked stone weights for training, she had a few sets of heavy, plasticized dumbbells for people to work with. Nothing compared to the massive wooden log, almost three feet thick and five feet in diameter that she had worked into a shape meant for lifting the edge and flipping for core training, but they were useful anyway. And while there weren't workout machines, she had managed to weave ropes into grids for agility training, long ropes for resistance, and she'd even started the process of building an obstacle course. There were plenty of options for fitness.
The pinnacle of her creation, though, was a room she had taken over off to one side of the main space. The whole floor had been covered with sand hauled all the way from the beach, carefully run through a mesh sieve to keep the larger particles out of. The whole place had been worked down into a nice, relatively soft area for sparring, and there was even a few bags of sand hang from the ceiling for punching. Now if only she could figure out how to make proper mats instead for her sparring space.
Anyone entering would be met with Lauri-Ell there, smiling widely and waving at them.
"Welcome. Do you wish to work out? Spar? I would love to provide assistance."
Billy had said she should find something she wanted to do, wanted to be. And protecting others in every way she can come up with had won out.
2. A Glownie In Need Is A Glownie Indeed | Area of Pink 4
Part of life for Lauri-Ell had always been patrolling Temba. Part of it had come from the fact that, when she had arrived, she had her future Emperor and his Prince-Consort to protect. The rest of it came down to the fact that she was a genetically engineered soldier, and she really just didn't know what to do with herself if she wasn't walking patrols. Which was what she was doing, fully clad in her Accuser armor, the Universal Weapon in hand, and one of the Agrii Security Point guns hanging from a strap at her side. Surely she was kitted out for battle.
What she was not expecting was the distressed noise she heard while walking toward the hangar, or how the noise grew louder and more distressed noises buried under some rubble of the less stable buildings in the area. And that's when she realized what she was hearing.
"A glownie!" the woman gasped, shocked and moving toward the rubble to try and get to where the source was. "I will save you little beast!"
3. Exploring The Ghost of the Past | Pink 25 - Transport Station
Lauri-Ell loved plants, there was no denying that. There was beauty in the fragility of a flower, there was strength in the twisting of a vine, and there was wonder in the wash of green. But here, this place, it was wrong. Lauri-Ell's patrols often led her through this part of the city, eyes watching out for dangerous creatures encroaching in. Today, though, the silence and overgrowth was too much. Too like what she had seen in that New York City where her sister had hidden her during the war. Like the beautiful structure of glass and metal that housed plants where a Cotati had taken a captive little girl named Kit.
It was wrong here. It hurt her to see.
With a sigh Lauri-Ell moved further into the overgrowth, working her way through it. She wanted to see what this structure was, and the plants did not seem to want to let her through.
"I am not your enemy," she told the plants around her. "I wish merely to explore and see what this place was. What it could be. Please, i do not wish to damage you."
They weren't likely to listen.

She wasted no time getting down on the ground and sliding toward the hole, meaning to go into it feet first. The glownie, seeing the approach of a foreign creature while it was vulnerable, bleated louder in dismay, a higher note coming into the cry.
"Shh, darlin', it's alright," Clarice said softly, keeping her voice low as she moved down into the hole. She tried to find a balance between moving fast to keep Lauri-Ell from having to hold up the stone too long, but not moving suddenly to avoid spooking the poor trapped creature. A beam had fallen across it, but two pieces of what had once been furniture - maybe crates - had kept it from being crushed. If she could move it without coming near the glownie ...
"I think I see what it is, there's a beam down. I'm gonna try to push it from one end..."

Her muscles strained as she kept the rock up. She could not let this fall. The glownie, and Clarice, would be hurt.
"I would advise you to try very slowly. It may be weight bearing and I may need to adjust my grip."
no subject
"Okay, here I go. Heads up." She wrapped her hands around one end of the beam and began to wiggle it with care, gently and slowly testing how much give and movement it might have. Her heels dug into the soft earth, but found rubble underneath for good purchase. "I think ... I may be able to push one end of this backwards, toward the rest of the ruin. That might give it enough room to get out. But I don't know what that's gonna do to the stuff above it. Maybe we can find another piece somewhere to brace things with before I try anything?"
no subject
"I wish I could give you my weapon, but that would not work. I must have it out."
She shifts her position and looks for things she might be able to kick under.
"What of large rocks?"

She reached out with a foot and started to nudge one large rock under the piece she was holding up.

“I know, I know,” she coos, leaving the beam where it is to move the first rock into place. She uses the side of her boot to dig a little divot in the ground so it won’t roll or shift once she puts more weight on it. “Okay, Lauri-Ell, ready for another one when you’ve got it.”
no subject
"Are you alright?"
no subject
"I am, yeah, think you can give me one more? If you can't I can make do."
Something within the ruins shifted with a soft creak, and she gulped in a breath, already searching for purchase on the beam.
"You know what, never mind! I'm gonna move it now. Tell me when you're ready for it."
no subject
"If something starts to fall, I will try and flip this aside and rush in to grab another stone. Please move quickly."
She doesn't want Clarice crushed. The woman is nice.

Things were going to move, and soon, regardless of what she and Lauri-Ell wanted. The instant she set the beam down on the rocks, she reached for the glownie, one arm slipping under its belly, her knuckles scraping dirt and rubble. She let out a little hiss of pain as something - broken concrete? - skinned the back of her hand, but managed to get the critter up in her arms against her chest.
"Okay, here we go, gonna pass him up to you --"
Her voice was cut off by another shift. Closer. A little more vital-sounding. Starling lunged for the opening, holding up the bleating, battered-but-not-broken animal, haste making it an awkward pass.
"Shit--!"
lmk if this is okay
"I am sorry if you have been injured."
totally fine! :D
"Whew," she said, as the world settled around her and she began to feel grounded again. She took stock quickly: the pain would need to be assessed later once the initial shock of it had faded. Nothing was broken or bleeding on herself or Lauri-Ell. The ground around them felt stable enough. Any potential imminent threats were sufficiently neutralized. She knew there was an adrenaline crash in her future, and she hoped that she could make it back to her room and the closest thing that passed for a comfortable bed before it did.
"I've had worse. Jesus Christ on a cracker, I was not expecting you to pull me out like that. You're alright, yeah?"
Re: totally fine! :D
"Perhaps it would be wise to take you to the hospital. And the glownie. Perhaps William could render assistance if you are injured."
Was she alright? Lauri-Ell looked shocked.
"My muscles are warmed up, perhaps approaching a bit of fatigue. But otherwise I am fine."

"You must understand, I am Kree. The planet upon which we evolved had more gravity than yours. Much more. This planet, the Agrii's world, it is slightly lower gravity. Their construction materials relate to this. I can handle the weight."
But she will allow William to inspect her though.

"Sorry," Starling said with a genuine smile, even though her own discomfort dimmed it a little. "I guess I'm still getting used to just how different some of us are."

Agriculture datapoint? Oh, that was easy.
"I can take you there, after."
no subject
"Let's get our check-ups out of the way, then. Sooner we know we're clear, the sooner we can get back to business, yeah?"
no subject
"As you wish. Shall I carry you to the hospital? It could be easier."

Glownie secured she moves toward the hospital. “I thank you for your assistance.”
