Archivist Catch-All

WHO: Jon & YOU
WHERE: Coruscant - Various places
WHAT: Coruscant Event catch-all. Some open, some closed prompts. See what your little Eldritch avatar has been doing...
WHEN: Coruscant Event
WARNINGS: One of them includes Tony. Approach at own risk.

The Perfect Gift [ OPEN ]

Coruscant is- A lot. A lot of city, a lot of people a lot of- Everything. Even for Jon, who has been living in London for a good decade now. But even London seems unnaturally small compared to Coruscant. And yet living there has ensured that Jon isn't intimidated by crowds. In fact, he has come to find himself quite capable of adjusting himself to their situation and as he learns more about the planet and its inhabitants, Jon also learns more about how to navigate it and find that which he is looking for.

Which proves invaluable While out to acquire goods and supplies he deems useful for their inevitable return to Temba.

It's a long list Jon has for himself. A variety of clothes and footwear are on it, including some actual swimwear, equipment and supplies for his little chemistry lab, writing utensils, notepads, new variants of tea and other luxuries, a couple of handy little tools and - Gifts. And especially those gifts prove to be the difficult part. Since the person Jon is trying to find a gift for is none other than Tony. The man that tries to fix everything and constantly makes gifts for others himself. Finding a gift for such a man is harder than one might wish to think.

Apparently a selection of treats are about to become part of the assortment of gifts Jon has already picked up and he is currently studying the packaging of what may be actual chocolate. One can never go wrong with some sweets and a good wine. Jon smiles softly to himself and his attention drifts over to something that is either a futuristic bottle opener or a very peculiar toy, making him frown before reaching out to pick it up, vaguely addressing either the person next to him or no one in particular. "No idea what this is, but- I'm curious."

Being A Monster [ OPEN ]

Some may say it is ill-advised for Jon to be heading down into the lower levels of this multi-layered city. And yet here he is, his worn clothes and too large poncho making him easily melt into the crowd of beings who ignore his seeking stare. A stare that isn't seeking for difficulties with finding its target, but rather because every being down here proves to be a remarkably suited target for his needs.

He takes the easy route and turns into the next bar he passes. There are plenty of dreadful stories here for him to request, confine to memory and later record. Which will have to wait until they are back in Temba, since his tape recorder has not been brought along on this trip.

It's later that night - Or maybe early the next morning that the Archivist returns to the hotel they are all staying in. His steps swaying a little from the alcohol, but a contentment rarely seen by many on his expression. He even gives a cheerful wave to anyone else he encounters at this odd hour. "Someone is up early!"

Among Force Sensitives [ CLOSED to Obi-Wan ]

It's not without a healthy degree of trepidation that Jon walks up to the intimidating structure that he has been told to be the Jedi Temple. He is dressed in a set of new clothes, which he assumes to be local enough in style and clear of the wear and grime of the clothes he has been wearing down over the past months on Agra 10. Well fitting grey pants covering the better part of dark boots and a light, long-sleeved tunic paired with a very functional messenger bag is just one outfit the Archivist has come to pick up so far and he finds himself particularly happy to now own some footwear that isn't meant to be purely decorative while one spends the better part of the day behind a desk.

Though even his new attire doesn't fully keep Jon from pausing briefly in his steps to look up the massive building. Home and training ground of the Jedi. Jedi like Cal and Obi-Wan and Ezra. Beings sensitive to an energy field called The Force.

Beings that can sense something is not right with him.

Jon swallows once, hand tightening around the strap of his bag before he pushes forward, expression set into a stubborn set of determination. It will be fine. The Jedi Master has agreed to accompany him into the Temple, meaning Jon won't be heading in there by himself. It will be fine.

At the top of the stairs, he comes to another stop, finding himself looking up at massive columns of a height that raises questions for the Archivist. Questions he will be keeping to himself at least for the time being before taking his attention back down and looking around for the man he is supposed to meet up here at the very entrance of the Temple, muttering to himself. "...Christ. I hope he hasn't forgotten."

It's a date! [ CLOSED to Tony ]

New clothes that actually fit him and that Jon feels good in are but one of the things this planet has provided. Another thing is the chance to get his hair cut back to a more reasonable length, get the items required for a decent shave and of course have a proper bath. Small luxuries that add noticeably to Jon feeling human again. And to provide him with the confidence to ask Tony out for a proper date. How many chances like this will they get anyway?

The beings tending to their needs at their hotel have been quite helpful to him with setting everything up and recommending the right places not too far away. From a good, rather exclusive restaurant high up in a tall spire looming over Coruscant's upper level along with similar, yet distant skyscrapers and providing an excellent view to an artificially created and very unique park at the very base of said spire to the suggestion of a sensual and very private message provided by specially programmed droids up in their hotel's poshest suite offered by the beings in charge of the hotel tending to their guest's needs. Being that are remarkably eager to please this easy source of good credits. And after all these months on Agra 10, Jon has very little qualms about spending what the Agrii provide them with.

Having arrived a little early, Jon has already been seated at one of the rather few tables the restaurant actually possesses. All set apart and separated with strategically placed pots filled with colorful alien flora and a stunning view out of the large windows making up the entire outer walls of the place. A soft tune hangs in the air that Jon listens idly to while looking out of the window, over the city and every once in a while daring a glance down, feeling a bit thankful that Mike Crew hasn't instilled an even greater fear of heights into him. His hands are loosely clasped in front of him on the table, having very little to do at the moment.

When he hears a set of footsteps approaching, Jon turns his attention away from the window to greet who he assumes to be Tony with a gently, yet genuine smile.

As much as Tony had already dismissed the temple, it wasn't until Jon's explanation that he realized how strangely restricted the information was, making Tony's nose wrinkle with some irritation that the Jedi were hoarding these archives, and in formats that required some weird, genetic code to access. At least being granted that access meant that the Jedi couldn't have been that bothered by Jon, and the close eye could have had more to do with...Jon, than anything lurking in his head.

What made everyone in this society accept that the Jedi were in control (and the inevitable conclusion of that, as far as Tony could tell) was a question for someone like Cal or Kenobi, perhaps. After a beat, what Tony responded with was, "You look healthy," lifting his head to brush his fingers through Jon's hair. Maybe it wasn't just his tape recorder that he had to rely on.

It wasn't a joke that Tony was following, but he started to laugh in confusion regardless as Jon's rare pride in it. "The holocron?" he tried, more confused than ever about how this Force-linked system worked. "Is it some kind of creature?" Tony had been assuming the temple was full of hard drives, not herding uniquely talented animals around to read their archives.

That pretty much confirmed for Tony that the Jedi had plenty of good reason to watch Jon closely just from his behaviour, because Tony and Cal had been eyeing him after watching him make a recording, too. "You know you get weird when you do that?" Tony laughed. "They must have thought you were an actor of some kind. Did they start trying to show you space-Shakespeare after the first one?"

Even that was a little bit of the weirdness, as far as Tony could tell, and it was charming that Jon was actually enthusiastic about something, but unfortunately it was something that left Tony feeling awkward. He fidgeted, shifting in his seat and looking for something to twist his empty hand into, and eyed the piloting droid, wondering at how seamless the system would have been if it really was one big network and not a series of disparate signals, droids designed as individuals.

"That's the thing, where you can open up a little bit in your head," Tony surmised, not entirely confident but seeing how the network might work. "You know more than what's actually on the page. Do you--can you tell when people are lying to you? Do you have to repeat it?"

It sounded to Tony like Jon could have been a lie detector, with just a little bit of lateral thinking, because all a lie detector was was a machine designed to reveal secrets that the speaker didn't want known. And if that person with all of the secrets didn't necessarily have to be present, like with a written statement, Jon might have been able to peek into the myriad of secrets that were keeping them under some mysterious aliens' control.

Jon's thinking was more of that idealistic trust that Tony hadn't quite settled on how to handle. If he could just make people tell him the truth, instead of going to the lengths he did to guard himself against it, Tony didn't think he'd have the moral strength to stop himself. After another thoughtful breath, Tony tried to sound playful as he asked, "Can you tell when I'm lying to you?" That wasn't really a question about Jon's supernatural abilities anymore.

The silent scrutiny was enough to make Tony fidget again, corner of his mouth ticking up in a slow smile and ready to break the tension with the proposal of an actual test, a game to see if Jon could spot the fallacy, only then Tony would have to come up with something outlandish and believable on the spot--okay, not that much of a challenge, and he was knotted up enough in this tension that he was laughing in surprise at the unexpected answer he did get before it occurred to him to be offended. Remarkably obvious? His brow knit in an inquisitive frown, mouth open but too taken aback to properly voice what Jon was thinking was so obvious. Maybe that had all been part of his performance. He was supposed to have plenty of masks, after all.

It was tempered by Tony's attempt at needling being transformed into another opportunity for Jon to be unreasonably sweet to him, to which Tony could only snap his mouth shut to click his tongue and try to dismiss the flush he could feel starting in his chest, squirming this time to finally sit up straight in his seat and clear his throat. "That's not true," he accused, thought fairly confident Jon was incapable of lying to him; he would have noticed by now. Surely. Jon just didn't realize how difficult he made it to resist even when he wasn't using his compulsion. "We probably wouldn't be here now if you had waited. I'd be on the other side of the planet, pining away, telling some poor beast in a bar all about you."

What was Tony supposed to do with that? Besides jump out of this car to avoid any further remarkably obvious reactions. The whispering didn't help, making Tony nose impulsively closer despite himself and his defensive pout, definitely nervous, and Jon's apparent delight in pinning him down sent the kind of thrill up the back of Tony's neck that triggered his pushback to find out how hard Jon was willing to squeeze. "I'm always adorable," he countered, pout turning into a sharp smirk. "And how do you know that I'm nervous? Maybe I'm just distracted. Usually when you're talking for eight years I'm thinking about how I would get you to make that noise..." He tipped his head slowly, breath tracing over Jon's cheek and jaw until Tony could nip under Jon's ear and slither out of any further scrutiny.

Under Jon's sputtering, Tony purred, "Yeah, that one," with a blooming, fangy grin for his easy success. There weren't actually a lot of situations where Tony thought he would rather Jon wasn't talking, but that didn't stop him from revelling in his growing arsenal. He didn't quite notice the speeder coming to a stop, but the shadow thrown over the window from the droid was enough warning to make him sit up straight again and turn the grin into an appreciative smile the driver's way, abandoning Jon to look flushed and incoherent on his own, and in need of Tony's assistance bundling him out of the car that was really just a good excuse to keep tickling and pinching him until he wasn't just blushing, but irritated with Tony's very casual cool. Unless he managed to escape before Tony prodded at him too much, redirected to try flirting with the droid once more in his gracious thanks for the drive as they settled the payment. The droid was still not impressed by him, and didn't say any more than was necessary to get itself back into the speeder and darting off to the next fare.

"That wouldn't have worked in New York, either," Tony admitted as he watched the lights burn away and blend quickly into the neon on the city. "Cab drivers are ruthless."

"But I'm adorable," Tony pointed out, offended that Jon had forgotten this crucial fact so quickly, and automatically accepted Jon's hand before he was faced with the cool slide of the hotel doors and the strikingly quiet lobby. There was a very real possibility that they could run into someone they knew here, anyone from Temba coming or going to their various Coruscant intrigues, or just between the bar and the bath. What would Steve have said, if he was the one to come strolling through the elevator doors as they chimed gently and rolled open for them? Tony let his hand slide guiltily from Jon's then, leaving him hanging on by one finger as he considered Cap's quiet disapproval every time Tony flirted with an Avenger in front of him.

Tony made it into the closed security of the elevator without entirely letting go, anyway, shifting to lean back against the wall as he had on the way down from the restaurant, no longer as enchanted as he had been on their arrival by the way they had to rocket up and down the buildings to get anywhere in the ambitious reach of Coruscant. There, he could more readily pull Jon closer, where a hand remained on his back as they were deposited into the plush, empty hall.

Tony snorted and bumped Jon's shoulder for the confirmation as much as for the delay, gliding more easily down the hall for it with some of the tension breathed out of him in the laugh, his cautious quiet more respectful of the sleeping doors around them than anxiously aware of them. It kept his voice low as they drew up to Jon's door and he took Jon's hand again to pull him short for Tony to lean against the doorframe with a warm smile and barely concealed playful glimmer behind his glasses. They weren't going to have many more chances to play at this being a first date, but Tony couldn't quite get the laugh out of his voice as he said, "I've had a lovely time, Mr. Sims," with an expectant tilt of his head.

It became increasingly difficult not to laugh as Tony realized how much of a puzzle he had just handed to Jon, expectant expression turning quickly into an inquisitive narrow of his eyes and absolutely no merciful rescue in sight until Jon had landed on how to interpret what one was supposed to do in this kind of exchange. That it looked as though he decided not playing at all was the safer bet when he opened the door was already kind of funny after the long deliberation, if a little disappointing, but that he ultimately landed in the right ballpark but playing a very different, much more aggressive game was a revelation. Tony was still grinning in delight when he took Jon's sweet, stubborn face in both hands to kiss him as many times as he deserved for that response, walking him blindly back into the room as Tony pressed his adoration into the determined set of Jon's mouth and the wrinkle between his brow that he had fallen in love with until the door hissed closed behind him.

Tony wasn't sure where the flutter of his heart felt more vulnerable under Jon's hands, or when his grin had slipped enough to be so aware of them; probably about the same time his gleeful peppering of kisses slowed enough to meet Jon's, and they were left standing focus still in the profound silence of the sealed room, making Tony's slow inhale still pressed against Jon's mouth the only distraction from the pounding in his ears. It wasn't quite as chaste as the mirror of this kiss that they shared in the park, and Tony certainly wouldn't call it calming, making him drop one hand around Jon's wrist at his neck to try to ground himself again, only to end up pulse to pulse where they held each other.

Reluctantly, Tony drew back, stealing a final kiss before his grin was returning and he could finally pluck off his sunglasses. It didn't make much of a difference in the low light, but Tony only considered it briefly, gaze not easily pulled off of Jon. "Is that the one you meant?" he asked, voice still low but with the posture of presenting an array of concepts, if not for the nagging smirk, eager to please.

Though it was clear what Jon was trying to indicate, Tony tried, "Little lower?," which hopefully threw him off balance as Tony bobbed down enough to lift him up from behind the thighs in a scoop with his glasses still dangling from his fingers, only briefly helping steady Jon with the other hand to keep it free. They could have the sweets and the bedroom and Tony had an easy solution, flashing a smile up at Jon before he was piling the packages haphazardly between them, most of them tumbling to the ground in the transition or leaving a brightly wrapped trail behind them as Tony carried the whole collection through to the bedroom.

The result was only the most resilient of the packages piled on Jon or rolling across the blankets as Tony tipped him back onto the bed, kneeling over him on one knee to not drop him too quickly, where Tony lingered with a chuckle as he nosed something squashy in its crinkling paper out of the crook of Jon's neck to leave a kiss there instead.
