Cobb's Event Catch All | Open
WHO: Cobb Vanth & All
WHERE: Various locations across Coruscant.
WHAT: Adventures across the planet
WHEN: Event
WARNINGS: Cussing. Angst. Possible violence. Will update as necessary.
This was not how Cobb imagined his first time off Tatooine. Then again, with his history, maybe he should have expected his first trip in space and to a Core world would be against his will. These Agrii fellas needed to learn to ask for permission. He would've said yes if they had asked. Instead, there was a little bubble of resentment brewing towards their alien captors.
But that anger could wait. A lot of people here had no idea how to navigate any planet in the galaxy much less one like Coruscant. Stars, even Cobb was a little out of his element but at least he could read the writing and understand how things worked in general. The first thing he focused on was getting everyone else settled and comfortable to go around by themselves. It was a lot of explaining how credit worked and offering to help if anyone needed it.
It took a few days before Cobb disappeared on his own one morning. The credits provided by the Agrii and the few he had on him when he got taken were burning a hole in his pocket. He went to the market and found himself some pieces of durasteel armor and a padded armor suit to wear underneath. It was, without a doubt, the nicest thing Cobb had ever owned, gleaming a brass-gold color against the black padded suit and soft green cloak he also bought to hide the scars that peeked out from the suit.
Damn if he didn't feel guilty for the two-thousand credits he handed over to buy it.
He just couldn't help but think of all the necessary things he could buy for home or this group of people at that cost. Two thousand credits would never got that far on Tatooine where everything was so damn expensive but it could've done something good. But after putting it all on he looked like he belonged on a Core world instead of an outsider in ragged clothes. Clothes he kept because they were still good enough for home and no one wasted anything on Tatooine. The armor though... wearing it he felt... like someone important and wasn't that a heavy thing?
Not only did the armor protect him and help him blend in, now he could get into better bars and taverns where they played high stakes sabacc. Cobb had learned his numbers playing the card game and was damn good at it. Good enough to win games against rich fools who tossed credits around like they could be dug up from the sand. That real vindictive part of himself really enjoyed it.
And everything he won now went to what they'd need to survive and anyone else who needed a few spare credits.
After all, he could always win more.

"No harm done, ma'am," he said as he sat up a little straighter to make sure he wasn't in her way.
She's an alien, clearly, but Cobb wasn't sure she was an alien from this planet. Or this galaxy. Actually, she might be from the ships. Cobb was pretty sure he'd seen her before around there.
"Apologies if I'm in your spot."
no subject
"I am a visitor here. Therefore I have never been here before and thus cannot have a spot."
no subject
"Well, I happen to be the same," he said with a little grin. Then he held out his hand. "Cobb Vanth. Part of the First Breath. Got a feeling you might be familiar with that ship."
She wasn't part of his ship but she was around. He had that gut feeling about her. And vague memories of seeing a blue woman.
no subject
"That is the ship William Kaplan is on," she says. Which means that this is one of the Prince's travel companions. So yes, she is invested in him and that ship. "I reside upon the Vanquish. It is a pleasure to meet others caught up in our unique circumstances. I have not had much of a chance for I have been focusing on providing fitness and combat training."
And most people, well, they didn't need either of those things.

For a moment Cobb had to wonder if the way this woman talked was making fun of him. But as she kept talking he figured this was just her way. Sort of like how some alien species had different sentence structures.
"Well, those are both useful given we don't know what we'll be dropped into. I've just been focusin' on supplies." Since his only other real skill was shooting things and a lot of people knew how to do that.
no subject
"Supplies is a wise choice to make. Supporting our survival is a good choice, as I do not believe the attempts to get us free of the Agrii have gone far. Thank you for your help on supplies."
no subject
"Yeah, I noticed lots of folks aren't familiar with survival." At least, not the sort of day to day struggle to survive that Cobb was familiar with. Nothing on Tatooine was easy after all.
"So, let me ask you. What do you want that would make the place better for you?" That was his goal in the end to make the town comfortable for everyone. A community to come out of the ruins.
no subject
"I suppose I'm not fully familiar with it either. I was a soldier, not a farmer or builder," Lauri-Ell says as she mvoes to sit near him. But the question of how to make it better for her is a curious one.
"I think I am happy as I am. I serve, I protect."
no subject
He shifted so that he could face her instead of talking off to the side. "You look like a strong person. Mind if when we start moving heavy things I call on you for help?"
There was only so much Cobb could lift, after all. This woman looked like she could lift him and a second person with ease.
"Not a bad purpose in life to have."
no subject
“Very strong,” she agrees. “The understanding I have, as our units of measure likely do not match, is that a Kree is often capable of twice what a comparably sized human can. I believe this should be useful.”
Oh it is a bad purpose. She doesn’t like war.
no subject
"That would be real useful as I've got plans to tear down places beyond repair and use the materials to build up places that can be saved," he said with a little nod. "Good to know someone like you is around to help Lauri-Ell."
She reminded him a little of Issa-or. No one would mess with this woman.
no subject
"You should speak to the man who looks like Tony Stark but is not. I believe is name is Mister Twisty or something like that. He gave me some assistance in clearing the workout spaces. I think he has some talent there. But yes, I can do some work for you. It will be good for me to remain stronger."
No one in their right mind should mess with Lauri-Ell, not at all.
"If the worst happens, perhaps I can blast something over if needed."
no subject
He'd have to go through the directory and try and figure out who she meant. Or just wait for when they got home and he announced his plans to everyone. The few he'd talk to were behind the idea which gave him hope others would rally.
"Sorry, blast somethin'?" He frowned a little. "Shoot it?"
no subject
"Less shooting as in a gun, more as in directed energy blasts cast from the Universal Weapon.
no subject
"Huh. Never heard of that before." It sounded like something a Jedi should be able to do. Cobb wasn't sure if he wanted to see it in action or not. It sounded real dangerous.
But maybe useful in the right situation.
"Can't do anything like that myself. Just a real good shot."
no subject
Protecting people was good. Warring was bad.
no subject
But he'd agree protecting people was better than war.
"Haven't had much cause to shoot people lately. A nice change from my usual life."
no subject
"Skrull breed good warriors. Kree achieve it through genetic manipulation and growing children to be warriors in tubes. We are trained by programming. It is all a thing that we consider normal."
Shooting was good to avoid. She sighs and runs her fingers through the grass.
"I prefer not to partake of violence."
no subject
Yeah, it all sounded like cloning to him. Cobb wasn't actually sure how that all worked.
"We'd all like peaceful lives. Sometimes it isn't possible. Just gotta enjoy peace while you've got it." He shrugged a shoulder.
no subject
"The Kree have not known peace for well over a Millenia. Longer really. Since before humans were truly established on their world. So I never knew peace."
no subject
It wasn't this pretty on Temba even though the place had water and growing life. Maybe because it wasn't tended to like this garden was.
"Sometimes, you just don't want to fight, you know?"
no subject
She hated fighting more than anything. BUt it was what she was good for.
no subject
"Well, this whole Agrii business will give you a chance to do something else. We haven't had to fight anything since arrivin' here." Cobb had stumbled into a few fights. Not his fault.
Not fully just his fault.
no subject
"That is not correct. There were the spiders. That was a fight. And Iron Man and I had to fight Raphael, for he was clearly mad."
no subject
"Who's Iron Man?" he asked. He was pretty sure he'd met everyone there was to meet around here. Raphael was the pilot for his ship, he knew that guy pretty well.
