Cobb's Event Catch All | Open

WHO: Cobb Vanth & All
WHERE: Various locations across Coruscant.
WHAT: Adventures across the planet
WHEN: Event
WARNINGS: Cussing. Angst. Possible violence. Will update as necessary.

This was not how Cobb imagined his first time off Tatooine. Then again, with his history, maybe he should have expected his first trip in space and to a Core world would be against his will. These Agrii fellas needed to learn to ask for permission. He would've said yes if they had asked. Instead, there was a little bubble of resentment brewing towards their alien captors.

But that anger could wait. A lot of people here had no idea how to navigate any planet in the galaxy much less one like Coruscant. Stars, even Cobb was a little out of his element but at least he could read the writing and understand how things worked in general. The first thing he focused on was getting everyone else settled and comfortable to go around by themselves. It was a lot of explaining how credit worked and offering to help if anyone needed it.

It took a few days before Cobb disappeared on his own one morning. The credits provided by the Agrii and the few he had on him when he got taken were burning a hole in his pocket. He went to the market and found himself some pieces of durasteel armor and a padded armor suit to wear underneath. It was, without a doubt, the nicest thing Cobb had ever owned, gleaming a brass-gold color against the black padded suit and soft green cloak he also bought to hide the scars that peeked out from the suit.

Damn if he didn't feel guilty for the two-thousand credits he handed over to buy it.

He just couldn't help but think of all the necessary things he could buy for home or this group of people at that cost. Two thousand credits would never got that far on Tatooine where everything was so damn expensive but it could've done something good. But after putting it all on he looked like he belonged on a Core world instead of an outsider in ragged clothes. Clothes he kept because they were still good enough for home and no one wasted anything on Tatooine. The armor though... wearing it he felt... like someone important and wasn't that a heavy thing?

Not only did the armor protect him and help him blend in, now he could get into better bars and taverns where they played high stakes sabacc. Cobb had learned his numbers playing the card game and was damn good at it. Good enough to win games against rich fools who tossed credits around like they could be dug up from the sand. That real vindictive part of himself really enjoyed it.

And everything he won now went to what they'd need to survive and anyone else who needed a few spare credits.

After all, he could always win more.

"Light sprinkling and drizzles are fine. It's the downpour and the thunderstorms that will do a number on everything."

Was Echo really helping? Who knew. It still counted as a warning.

They seemed to agree on liking Ezra, though. "He's itching to get to work, all right. I kind of wanna watch an' see what he does."

There was a beat where he had to figure out who else Cobb was talking about, and it went by process of elimination. 'Little womp rat' didn't seem to fit Cal because Cal was tall, and Ezra was already stated as 'kid.' "Grogu?" That was the name Obi-Wan left him with, and there weren't many other younglings he knew of heading off to the Jedi Temple.

When we get back. Agra 10's abandoned environment might have paled in comparison to Coruscant's bustling lifestyle, but it was easier to deal with. Not as overwhelming. "I hate to admit it, but I'm looking forward to heading back once we're done here."

This was the first time he'd ever heard the nickname. "I haven't had the chance to meet him properly yet," Echo chuckled. Kenobi did say he would introduce the two, but it felt like a veiled threat. Maybe he was just reading way too much into it. "But there's nothing wrong with having a favorite."

Echo's eyes followed Cobb's gesture, looking out at the lines of traffic choked with vehicles of every shape and size. "We had noise on Kamino, but it never caused this much of a racket either."

The Agrii left their learning message pretty open to interpretation and he didn't like that. He was used to having direction. In comparison, he Marshal at least had plans. "And no military bases to report to," he murmured, shaking his head. "Whenever you do start building things, let me know. I've had too much time on my hands."

And there was even more time to spend on Coruscant (but he would figure it out eventually).

Cobb's explanation did lay out a little more detail about the child, however. "Yeah? I haven't seen Mando in a while, but I figure he's been doing okay for himself. Are the two always together?"

For Echo, it was the sound of the rain and the churning of waves. Kaminoan announcements sent over Tipoca City's comm system, echoing down every corridor. Clone voices, ranging in various pitches and nuances from his own, conversational whenever they weren't mired in combat.

Having more to do meant less to think about, and Cobb trying to band everyone together to help out was promising. "Looking forward to it."

One more pour. One more for Cobb, too, since he was the one who brought the bottle. Echo couldn't help but smile at imagining the Mando holding Grogu. "So long as he's not having any trouble taking care of the child. It must be hard work, though."

"That close, huh?" Family was important. He might not know Mando and the child very well, but Echo agreed with Cobb's sentiment. "It wouldn't be right."

Being presented with the opportunity to try his hand at bounty hunting was never a priority before, nor was it a conscious choice. However, the reason behind the suggestion made sense. Months without anything happening on Agra 10 slowly whittled away at his training, and he only got lucky getting more practice in when the spiders showed up.

With that, Echo nodded, bringing the glass up to his lips. "Good point. I'll look into that.

"What about you, Vanth? Gambling can't be the only thing you're doing here."
on_repeat: (Yeah. So now what?)

Maybe fighting rings were not the best option for the clone. He could probably do it, but the Underworld had its share of rigged systems. And he would probably supervise Cobb hitting people and shooting things if they both went on the 'crime and exploitation' route.

In the end, it was wiser to limit the expeditions to the lower levels.

Entertainment was easier to transport than an actual mode of transportation. "Can we even fit a speeder on any of these shuttles?"

Echo idly swirls whatever is left of his spotchka. "If I still have enough credits, I'm willing to help spot," he offers. "I don't think I'll be using it anywhere else."

Maybe a few places that involve admission fees in the near future, but that's about it. Even then, it's still going toward supplies and inventory.

Echo smiled. It was a small gesture, but it still brought some satisfaction in crossing a metaphorical bridge.

Cobb wasn't bad; he had his own share of experiences the clone would either never know or come to fully understand, but seeing this side of him shed a new light on what made the man tick.

"Never hurts to double-check. I can even start now and make an inventory list."

The ARC Trooper straightened up, saluting Cobb with his glass still in hand. "Glad to be of service, marshal."

If Cobb had the patience to get to know him better, Echo could return the favor in being reliable and lend a hand where it counted most. And if he didn't begin tackling tasks right after drinking, he would surely get to work the following day.
