[Considering there’s half a dozen ships with several people on each, Obi-Wan knows the best way to get everyone’s attention was to use the network. Thus as he is walking somewhere on the planet, speeders zipping past and other pedestrians milling by, he decides to make a recording.]

Welcome to Coruscant everyone.

if you don’t already know, we have found ourselves on one of the core worlds in a galaxy that myself and several others are from. We are approximately 900 years in the past from my point of view. 

Coruscant is entirely covered by one city, and is the capital of the Galactic Republic which governs much of the galaxy. This world is quite literally an urban jungle with over five thousand levels stacked atop each other from the ground up. The atmosphere is artificial and you are unlikely to find any natural spaces here. 

It is my recommendation that you keep to the upper levels as much as you can. However, if you do decide to go into the Underworld I advise caution as it can be quite dangerous. 

If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Also, do not hesitate to contact me if you find yourself in trouble.

I could feel the Temple from orbit. [Both wonder and a little unease in his voice there. He grew up in the biggest city on Lothal and has been on planets that are busy trading hubs, but this is whole other orders of magnitude more.

So much input, from the Force. He's a having a little trouble focusing.]

Are you...going to visit? [He can't really imagine Master Kenobi staying away. He doesn't plan on staying away. But he'd feel much better if he knew Obi-wan was there, too, and willingly so.]

[Obi-Wan can’t help but smile a little at Ezra’s admission. It must be quite an experience for him. There is certainly a lot of sentient life here and the Jedi do stand out. Their presence bright in the Force.

Having been around them all through his life he had become desensitized to it. Thus he hadn’t picked up on it as immediately as Ezra had.]

Yes. I am going to approach the Jedi High Council.

I don’t recommend going until you hear from me.

Ok. That makes sense. I'll wait. [Hadn't Kanan said something about the temple at Lothal revealing to him that the Grand Inquisitor had been a Temple Guard? So the main temple had guards, and security procedures.]

...what are you planning on telling them? [As much as possible? As little as possible? Make something up? Ezra's not sure what the right call is, and he doesn't envy Master Kenobi trying to make that decision.

He is, at least, not having much trepidation about leaving that in the hands of the guy who's not just a master but a high councillor. But they should probably get their story straight to cut down on confusion and suspicion.]

[This said matter-of-factly. As if there was no other consideration.]

Within reason at least. It would not do well to inform them of what happens in their distant future.

[On reflection out right lying to a bunch of Jedi Masters probably wouldn't work very well, would it? And telling them much about the fall of the Order could just create fear they can't practically act on even lead to more suffering - he's had enough vision to grasp that. On the other hand-]

So which parts of the truth? That we're from a different time, but not the details? Then we've been sent here by people who either kinda maybe kidnapped us, or are maybe being used themselves somehow, or it's all just random events, but we don't know?

[Well done Ezra. He’s right, the masters would easily pick up on blatant lying. Not that he wanted to lie to them anyway. These were essentially his ancestors, even if not by blood.]

That we were whisked away from our own points in time and brought to a planet by a people who decided to now bring us here.

Enough to give them an idea of who we are, why we are here, and that we could use their help.

I don't know how well known and understood this sort of thing was, so maybe it won't be a problem - but you were on the council and it didn't sound like you knew much about the temple on Lothal?

If they're skeptical about the out of time part, whatever the Archives has about that temple - that might help convince them.

No, I don’t know much about it.

Why do you think it might convince them?

[He presses his lips together.]

The Empire found that temple and started taking apart it apart to study it. I had a vision about it, barely a day after Kanan died. I came out of it convinced that the Empire could do something there worse than anything I'd seen before.

So I went there to try to stop it. There was a mural - I think maybe it was one of the very oldest parts of the temple. I used it to open a portal and I found myself somewhere very strange. I heard Kanan's voice, Master Yoda's, yours. Other people I don't know.

Ahsoka called it a World Between Worlds. The thing was, I'd believed she'd died two years before that. She'd been in a fight. Swooped into it to rescue me; she Force pushed me away from it, to our ship, so I hadn't seen her die.

And in that place where I'd found myself....was a doorway to moments later in that fight. I pulled her through it. And then she was there, with me. Alive, in the present.

There's more to that story. For one thing, The Emperor had already figured out there was power connected to time there, and moved part of the temple. He tried to talk me into using it to change my own past and save my parents. Of course, I didn't listen to him-

The point is, there's at least one place where time travel was possible, that, at some point, the Jedi must have known about.

[Obi-Wan listens and slowly stops in his tracks as he takes it all in. His brow furrowing as this was certainly something he had never heard of before. A way to reach through time? Possibly to alter it?

Could it really be true?

But Obi-Wan had no reason not to believe Ezra, and he didn’t sense any sort of deceit. The boy had never been anything but honest in the short time they had known each other.]

That is... remarkable.

[Well, Master Kenobi seemed to believe him. It was the truth, although not all of it.]

Good. And you're welcome.

And I know I already said I'd wait, and I don't want to think it's likely the Council would do something like try to keep you there and make you tell them more, but uh. How long should I wait before I try to do something like get together a rescue?

I don’t think I’m in any danger, and it might take some time for the council to decide. But just to be safe, I would get concerned if you don’t hear from me by tomorrow evening.

[ Kaz looks pensive for a moment but it's only for that moment and then it's gone as if it had never been. ]

5000 levels is a lot. At what level, starting at the surface, does it start to get dicey?

[Sounds reasonable to him. And hey, no lecture for suggesting rescue attempts into the heart of the Order. He'll take it. In fact, he breaks into a grin.]

It varies, but essentially the lower you go the worse it gets.

The Underworld is accessed through large openings in the surface city that also serve as ventilation. It’s completely dark down there and you will constantly be breathing fumes built up over millennia.

Level 1 is actually considered to be uninhabitable.

Thus the lowest levels are where most criminals thrive.

Good. In fact, you should probably help keep an eye on everyone. Coruscant may be new to you, but our galaxy is new to many others.

Good point. No guarantee they'll listen to me, but I'll do what I can.

Oh. I hadn't really considered that. Yeah, the clone brothers called Kanan General a few times before he got them to stop, but he wasn't...a leader in the Rebellion.

[ Kaz wrinkles his nose at the idea of constantly breathing fumes. ]

There's got to be a part of this 'Underworld' that doesn't assault the lungs. Is there any sort, however informal, of map to be had of that place? If the entire planet is the same city I find it hard to believe that there aren't tunnels or streets that lead to the surface dotted all around.

It’s a habit for them I’m sure. Echo would do the same with me if I let him.

Many Jedi were generals during the Clone Wars. I had my own battalion as did other masters and knights.

There are, but it’s much less direct. It will be faster to go by speeder to an access point and then down to the level you want.

You can find maps at information terminals throughout the city.

Kanan...never spoke very positively about Jedi being in such a military role. [Ezra speaks a little hesitantly, now, because he doesn't know how Master Kenobi felt about it.]

He was a little conflicted when I took an official commission from the Alliance. The uh, the Alliance to Restore the Republic. In the end he supported me, because the Empire does need to be taken down, but...

I think he was happier when it was smuggling resources, freeing prisoners, some sabotage. That sort of thing.

Jedi were never meant to be soldiers. I can hardly blame him for his feelings, especially considering it was the death of us.

[This is said solemnly. Obi-Wan had mixed feelings about the war as well, but knowing who was behind it only made it worse.]

There had not been any good options when it came to the Clone Wars. We had been manipulated into it because of that. Yet we thought we were protecting the Republic.

[Ezra nods slowly, just as solemn.]

I'd worked out that you weren't meant to win. That's how Palpatine works. Maybe the Sith in general. Narrowing the options until none of them seem like good ones.
