[ When the feed starts, there's obviously some fiddling going on--mostly it's just different shades of blue on the screen. The person handling the tablet doesn't seem to really know how to make heads or tails of it. A soft 'snowballs' is uttered, as if it were a curse.

Katara's face eventually enters the frame--upside down, until she realizes her mistake and flips it so she's correctly centered and displayed. The fountain is behind her, and the running water burbles gently in the background. ]

Hello! I'm Katara. I've met a lot of new people since I came here, but I know there are others that I haven't met yet, and the Vision explained that I could talk to people with this piece of glass, so I thought I'd do that and introduce myself.

[ She glances away for a second, considering what to say. ]

I'm from the Southern Water Tribe, which is at the South Pole. I left home about a year ago, and have been traveling the world since then with my brother and our friends. This is us together. [Here she holds up a crayon drawing of herself and her friends on a six-legged creature. She's obviously very proud. ]



That's Aang and my brother Sokka, then me and Toph and Suki and Zuko. Appa is the sky bison, and the flying lemur is Momo.

I'm a master waterbender, which means I can use my chi to control water. Like this! [ With a quick set of hand gestures, Katara pulls a little jet of water from the fountain and streams it around for a bit before putting it back. ] I can also use my bending to heal injuries! So if you get hurt, let me help you.

That's all I can think of for now. Bye!

[ It's another few moments of fumbling, but Katara finally manages to turn the feed off. ]

[ Katara laughs at Lance's reaction. ]

He's actually even bigger than this. Two or three people can sit on his head, and you could fit seven or eight in his saddle, but there usually weren't that many of us. It was just me and Sokka and Aang for a long time. Then we met Suki on Kyoshi Island, and Toph in the Earth Kingdom. Zuko we knew from the beginning, but, uh... he didn't always travel with us.

Even bigger? Whoa. You could fit a decent amount of people inside the lions back home, but the cockpit deeeefinitely could've been more bigger proportionally. They weren't exactly made to be passenger vehicles, though, more just for one person to pilot.

[waterwhip]

Yeah, he's huge!

[ Then she makes a questioning face. ]

Lion? You mean a lion-dog? Or a lion turtle? Or a sabertooth moose-lion? How would you ride inside any one of those?

[the_tailor]

[Lance shakes his head. Hoo boy, this'll sound pretty unreal to her.]

No, they're giant, sentient robot lions. Like really big lion shaped ships, essentially, but they can have a mind of their own. My lion's pretty hot headed sometimes, really fit with her previous pilot...

[waterwhip]

[ Katara squints at the screen for a second, because that... yeah, sounds kind of insane. First things first, though: ]

What's a robot?

[the_tailor]

[Oh boy. How to even explain this one...]

Uh... It's basically a machine. So Red's kinda one big lion shaped machine, in a way? I mean, she's a lot more, but technically...

[waterwhip]

A machine, okay. The Fire Nation uses machines. [ There's a little bit of an edge to her voice there. Obviously, the Fire Nation's machines are only used for nefarious purposes, but at least she grasps the concept now. ]

So your... red mechanical... robot lion carries you around places. But it's alive and it can think on its own.

[ That still sounds pretty crazy to her, but it's not the weirdest thing she's encountered since coming here, so she gives you a pass. ]

Is she a nice robot, then?

[Righty then, he can pick up on a bit of that tone. Fire Nation bad.]

Yeah, that's about it. She can fight, too. But yeah, she's nice! Kinda...temperamental and stubborn as heck sometimes, though. Keith used to pilot her, so she totally fit him like that.

[Snort.]

She can be a real mama cat, though. Super overprotective.
