Twin Roses | Coruscant
WHO: Crew of the Twin Roses (Obi-Wan Kenobi, Tommy Shepherd, Wanda Maximoff, Soldier, and Nameless Mandalorian)
WHERE: Coruscant
WHAT: Landing... maybe?
WHEN: Start of the Event
WARNINGS: PTSD from Obi-Wan probably
Something wasn't right. He felt it just before he jerked awake from the blaring announcement that pilots should get to their station. That was his cue. The Jedi had recently taken it upon himself to gain the knowledge of piloting this ship.
Leaping from his bunk, Obi-Wan ran down the corridors to the cockpit that he had only started to become familiar with. Quickly taking his seat at the controls. They were in space. That wasn't strange for him, but this was the first time he's ever seen this ship in action. Watching as the others started moving towards the portal, he directed the Twin Roses to follow.
Once through, the Jedi's heart nearly stopped beating as he saw the view of the planet beyond.
"It can't be."
It was then that his communication device beeped. Shaking hands taking it to read the message briefly before it clattered to the floor plates. In the next moment, the ship would lurch as the Jedi brought it to a sudden halt. His eyes wide, sweat beading on his forehead as he stared at the planet he knew so well. Hands on the controls in a white knuckled grip.
"No, we can't go there," he said to no one in particular.

"You don't understand. They don't understand," he says grimly. "If we land, all of us Jedi will be arrested and executed."
Thus he could only look on in dread as the other ships pass them, heading for the planet, though one of them doesn't seem to be in the best of control.
no subject
"You think I'd let them do that?" Tommy asks, voice very serious. "Billy wouldn't either. Thing you've gotta understand is that you've got people who have your back right now, Ben. People with powers this place wouldn't be expecting."
And he's pretty sure Teddy's big bodyguard lady would help too. Try and hold that woman down. A Kree Accuser? Few forces in his galaxy that could stop them when they wanted something done.
He moves to the monitor and sighs.
"Looks like we're short on pilots again. Granted this is the first time in a long while it isn't the Roses fumbling."

However, Obi-Wan seems to blink out of his fog of thought as a ship roared past them, making the Roses shudder.
"Wait a minute," he says, seeing a familiar emblem on the side of the vessel through the viewport. Then there was a blink on the console at an incoming transmission. Obi-Wan turned it on only to get some very angry ranting about blocking the orbital traffic lane.
Not missing a beat, Obi-Wan quickly replied. "This is the Twin Roses, and we copy. We are experiencing some malfunction and are delayed. Can I get confirmation of the standard galactic calendar date?"
/barges in
"Kid?" He glances at Obi-wan's bunk, but no kid there either.. "Dank ferrick."He's quick to get up. He's delayed in getting to the bridge as he checks the ship for any sign of the child. But he finally makes it to the cockpit, finding Tommy, Obi-wan...and still no kid.
"Kid's not on the ship." He's trying to keep his voice even, even if he's worried to hell. He glances out the screen at the sight of Coruscant. He's never been to the planet, but who hasn't heard of the core world?
Re: /barges in
When Ben asks for silence he obeys, but only until the Mando shows up. That arrival has him rolling his eyes.
“Of course not. His name isn’t on our crew lists this time, now is it? You’ve done this before, the whole Agrii just pushing us places, right? They’ll have shifted him to his ship. And Ben, what’s that about date?”
no subject
"What?" Obi-Wan glances back at Mando, a bit alarmed before looking back to the console as a reply came in. Listening to it while Tommy spoke to the Mandalorian. The Jedi picking up a headset so that he could hear more clearly.
It was then that Obi-Wan's eyes widened, and he is left speechless for a moment. A look given to both Tommy and then Mando. "Yes... yes. I copy. We will proceed immediately. Thank you." He then closed the comm channel and put the headset down.
"We're 900 years in the past. If I recall correctly, we are in the early years of the Grand Republic."
no subject
Also frick you, Tommy. Din wasn't thinking about that. He rolls his own eyes under the helmet. At least it got him thinking again.
"Right." Right, the Agrii. Mando's gaze turns from watching the ships that roar past them, as he looks back to Obi-wan, wondering about the date too. His hem jerks back, as his hidden eyes get wide, at the news however.
"What?" He's silent for several moments as he let's this sink in. Did Ga re seriously send them way into the past? "What can we expect here?"
no subject
"Does this mean the tech is going to be less impressive or something? Wonder if they'll give us money this time too. Could use some shopping."
no subject
Having answered Tommy's question first, Obi-Wan went back to the controls. Firing up the engines and sending the ship forward again. He could see the coordinates were already set and took control of the ship himself. Directing it seamlessly through the shipping lanes on their way to the planet.
"As for what we can expect. None of us are in any danger here after all. No wars in this time. The Jedi would have moved their headquarters here about 100 years ago, and Coruscant is still the capital of the galactic government."
no subject
His gaze turns back to watching the city pass by them. It feels weird to not be flying the ship But Obi-wan seemed to be handling the thing fine.
"Noted." He glances at Tommy. "Have to see if they gave any credits." Goodness knows they could all use some shopping. "Message said they wanted us to learn."
no subject
But he doesn't care, he just has to make a list of things they can do. Information? He doesn't think they'll find it. Instead he intended to make a shopping list.
"Hopefully this time we'll still have access to the ships. Saves on room and board."
no subject
However, the Jedi suddenly went quiet as something caught his eye. Setting the ship on autopilot, he slowly stood and leaned over to look out the viewport. His eyes fixated on a prominent building on the horizon. Its five spires reaching toward the sky, easily the tallest thing around it.
Completely awestruck at the sight, he said nothing else. ((OOC: Cue appropriate music))

Obi-wan's movements have Mando turning his attention back to the windscreen, stepping closer to the windows to get a better look. There's a curious tilt of the helmet. That place is massive.
"Temple?" He throws the guess at the Jedi, the man certainly seemed to know it.
no subject
Wait, why are they looking at something? Now Tommy's intrigued. They've found something interesting.
"What gets worshiped at the Temple?"
no subject
Tommy’s question earns him a glance and a faint chuckle. “The temple is where the majority of the Jedi Order live. It’s also an academy. A place to study, learn, meditate, and find inner peace. Where we can connect more easily with the Force and our fellow Jedi. It is also our base of operations.”
no subject
He's quiet for several moments, before he turns to look at Obi-wan.
"Would there be any Mandalorians here?" Speaking of 'home'. He's not expecting a positive answer, but he had to ask. Did Mandalorians even travel to the core worlds at this time?
no subject
He's confused, though. What are Mandalorians? Really, he's so behind on the knowing of everything. But he doesn't know what to do about things. This whole place was going to confuse him.
"Does this mean you Jedi people are all going to hang there? Man, I wanted to go hang with Cal."
no subject
“The sacking of the Jedi Temple has already happened, but I believe we are too early for the Mandalorian Cataclysm.” This said thoughtfully to himself as he stood up and stroked his beard. “Which means the Jedi and the Mandalorians are still at odds.” Which isn’t good for Mando, come to think of it.
“If they are here, there will not be many, and are likely spies.”
A glance was then given back to Tommy. “We will be spending some time there, but not all of it. Im certain Cal will be able to make some time for you, not to worry.”
no subject
"I have no quarrel with the Jedi." He knew it, Obi-wan knew it, and probably most of the people from Temba could probably tell. He had no reason to, the Jedi he'd met so far had done him no wrong(except for Ahsoka breaking her promise in the end). The Jedi here, however? This just made things way more interesting.
"So they're likely hidden." Well, at least that's something he's familiar with. "...and I shouldn't expect a good welcome." Not really anything that's new either.
no subject
So confusing.
"Hey, you just call me if there are issues, Mando. Provided the kid isn't going to hurt me, I'll get you out of trouble."
no subject
"Very likely," Obi-Wan agrees. "I can put in a good word for you to the high council, but I can not guarantee anything." They were his people and not at the same time. They didn't know him. He can only hope that those sitting on the council in this time will be reasonable.
Obi-Wan then looked at Tommy again. "Hopefully it won't come to that."
no subject
"Thank you, Tommy. Will keep you in mind." It's a little reassuring to know he's got back up, if need be. Although, hopefully it won't come to that. He turns to Obi-wan, tilting his helm at the bit about the council.
"I'll keep a low profile until I hear anything." Having grown up in the sewers of Navarro, he's well used to not drawing unwanted attention to himself. But knowing there's Mandalorian's on this planet, even if not many. He already has kind of an idea of what he's going to do.
no subject
Because if all of this place is in Obi-Wan's past, then he REALLY needs to not talk to them about it.
"You know it's, like, bad time-travel etiquette."
And yes, he's going to have Mando's back, because whatever, he helps people. But there's more issue with the time travel that is scaring him here.
no subject
“Oh, and here I thought we might have tea while discussing the genocide of our people 900 years in the future.”
He’s clearly being sarcastic. Obi-Wan had no intention to do such a thing.
“I plan to be cautious of course. However, I can not, nor am I willing to avoid them. And outright lying to Jedi Masters would certainly draw more attention than telling them at least some of the truth.”
no subject
No no, the whole time travel thing is definitely a bigger issue, this could have consequences if done wrong. Mando's not one to really snort or laugh at the sarcasm. But the mention of the genocide of their people does get the subtlest of flinches from him. Mandalorians had a really similar fate.
"What are you telling them?"
no subject
"Trying to give you some advice. You can make things worse in the future by saying something to try and prevent it. Promise it's not pretty to see how that plays out."
So keep as mum as he can, that's what he's trying to say. His arms cross over his chest as he sighs.
"Better to tell them as little as they can. Can't you just vague that 'there is some things that are not to be known' or some mumbojumbo?"
no subject
The Jedi sighs, knowing full well that Tommy is correct. He will have to be careful with what he reveals and balance it so that the masters do not become suspicious. Easier said than done.
“I’m certain I can think of something. It will be the truth, even if not revealing all the details. After all, it will be difficult to hide how foreign many of our group actually are. We are all bound to attract attention, and not just by the Jedi.”
