[Daytime hours. Echo, sans helmet but still suited up in his armor, wears a stern expression as he checks to see if the communication device is working. When he decides it is, he begins speaking, treating the situation as a soldier does.]

This is Echo. After all that's been happening the past few days and nights, we need to do a headcount to see if everyone's present an' accounted for.

As for our current situation, I'm assuming we don't really have emergency protocols and preparations in place for this kind of thing. Then again, who would've thought we'd be attacked by giant spiders almost every single night?

[If the clone's really being honest, he'd rather fight an army of droids right now.]

I guess it all boils down to taking care of ourselves while we have the break, but I feel like most of us are pretty capable when it comes to crises. Still, I'll be taking watch in the meantime. Just in case.

[Something setting people off now, aside from drawing out giant arachnids? Cayde strokes his chin.]

Good call. Pretty sure people would be upset if you killed any one of ours around here. That's some interesting timing though... But I haven't heard anyone else saying people were going nuts lately.

[An equally silent reply is found in nudging the glass toward Cayde.]

Believe me, it wasn't great seeing him hit the ground. Figuring out what to do after that was also a problem.

But you'd think more people would report abnormalities. Unless everyone's been too busy on their own fronts to say so?

[Reaching out with the bottle, Cayde tips it to pour Echo another glass.]

I think everyone's just been trying to prepare during the day for what happens at night. Days have been mostly quiet though. ...unless...

[He frowns in thought.]

[on_repeat]

[The refill is appreciated, drawing the glass back his way before taking another sip. Over the rim, the clone glances up at the Exo, noticing the pause.]

...Unless?

[Cayde drums his fingers on the counter, his metal features compressing into a look that suggests something's come to mind and it's not all that pleasant.]

...maybe there are things going on, and we just haven't been noticing as much as when we get overrun by multi-legged critters come nightfall.

[on_repeat]

[Echo frowns, the glass still in his hand after it meets the countertop.]

How can we, with all of the activity?

[It's not exactly rhetorical, but he's not refuting the Exo's thought.]

[The Exo's horned head tips in a nod at Echo then.]

We're too spread out when it's just us. You notice anything patrolling otherwise? We stick around to our boundaries. Have you checked in with anyone else?

Nothing new aside from additional damage to a few areas. I talked to Mando and he said he'd try tracking them...although I did check in with Jon the other day.

He said he was in the shopping center in the basement level when they appeared the first night. That got him thinking they were coming from someplace further underground.

Underground... Makes sense. They don't seem to be daylight critters.

[Cayde pours himself another glass, glancing towards the water-filled window.]

I guess any of us should've noticed that, but I think relief just took over once I realized we were mostly in the clear.

[After another careful swig, he frowns at the glass. And then he looks back over at the crate of bottles.]

How much damage did you cause to those bugs? Think it'll have the same effect?

[The Exo laughs ruefully.]

We've let our guards down, even when we thought we weren't.

[He tips back the second glass.]

They don't seem to like light. So I think it'll do nicely. And they're definitely not fire-proof.

[Not that much stood up to a shot from his Golden Gun.]

[That answer satisfies him, the corners of his eyes crinkling as he smirks. Always note the weak points of your enemies.]

That's part of the plan, then: burn 'em without burning down everything else.

Uuuuh.... Well if that's the case then um, make sure the other part of the plan is to make sure nothing nearby is flammable.

[He laughs, cringing a bit.]

Yeah! Of course. We don't wanna be too reckless.

[The Exo's jaw quirks into a smirk at that.]
