[Enjoy a video of a guy looking... vaguely uncomfortable on a video. He looks... nervous. Really nervous.]

So last year I tried to get the Agrii to help me get supplies for shit. And instead, when I explained, it we ended up on Winter-Fuck planet. So this year, I'm going to try and get what I need another way.

Does anyone have candles? I can live without the menorah and I've been practicing, I might be able to start fires now that I have my full powers back. Maybe. I just... Candles.

I'm not missing Hanukkah this year. And I'm not letting B miss it either. Please?

We could try just asking for candles and not tell them why.

I did that last year. They gave me tiny birthday candles. And not enough.

[He sighs, fingers carding in his hair. It was just so POINTLESS to even try it seemed.]

You could ask for nine big...no, tall candles.

I don't know. They could just give me plastic ones. And then we can't light them.

I'm not great at wording this shit to them. They always take it wrong. I asked for a stuffed animal and it was a rabid looking bunny. Asked for a blanket and it was space blankets. Asked for this stuff last year and instead of matches they gave me a matchbox car.

[All of the things he's asked for, except tools for bundling herbs, has been for Billy.]

They gave me pet shampoo and brushes once. Clint asked for a bow and arrows and they gave us a map. With arrows drawn on the map.

[If only her powers would work over that kind of distance and she could just show them...]

Maybe if we drew a picture? Or if you asked for a menorah...it might look silly but after last month I think everyone could use a little cheering up.

I’m still learning this stuff, okay? Had this whole ‘get in touch with my heritage’ kick. Which Wanda back home isn’t always helpful with, and Pietro is just evasive as fuck. Not that I don’t love him and all that. But he wants distance from his father’s side of the family.

I can try to cook something, if you two want? But it has been a long time for me. [She sighs.] I wish I could help with the candles.

[She doesn't even know how bad it was with Pietro back home, how much he hated his father. 'Father' because the world was messed up.]

I'll find something to burn for it. I'll fucking find a way. And yeah, I think I'd enjoy trying some of your cooking again. You're better than me.

We have vegetables that are close enough to potatoes. I think I can make something like a latke. A very basic one...but maybe there are herbs in the greenhouse that would taste good with it.

Do you think you could help me find eggs? [There are birds here, there has to be something, right? They could ask the Agrii but they're just as likely to get those odd little candy eggs.]

There are definitely herbs in the greenhouse that would work. I'll harvest what you need, and we can try and figure out how to mince them.

[Eggs, huh? Yeah, he can do that.]

There are some sea-bird nests on the islands I found. I'll collect some.

I have a knife...I don't think it was meant for this but that's why I have two.

Is that it? Am I forgetting anything? It has been a long time.

I don't really know. I'm still new to this. My birth parents didn't care about this stuff, and I didn't really, well, give Billy's folks a chance.

[So he's just trying with what he's got.]

I should have tried to show the Agrii the kinds of cooking things we need when we were on the ship. It would have been so much easier than trying to explain 'pantry staples' and then we would have the things we need.

[Although she supposes she could just tell them to watch any of the Drift Fleet episodes that showed her cooking on the Twin Roses.]

Maybe we can still get them to watch them now and send us flour. And noodles. Fuck, I could go for noodles.

Don't ask them for noodles. I don't want to think about what we would get.

[...but if pressed, her guess is either pool noodles or something highly inappropriate that she is not discussing with Tommy.]

Pool noodles. Come on, we could make a RAFT out of them!

[oh no and for him, she'd actually do that even though she's still kind of afraid of the water]

Or what if they gave us one giant one?

Sure, why not? You could cut up one noodle to make ties out of!

[Water isn't Tommy's favorite either, unless he's going over it.]

I thought I would need to hold it together. They get slippery when they are wet...

Imagine if there was one big enough for the three of us to ride at once without sinking.

Worst comes to worst, we can make Billy glue it together with magic.

[It's a silly idea, but hey, glowing blue noodle raft, he's down for it.]

I mean, a single pool noodle already tends to sink under a person.

I could try and magic some...? Or...we could go looking for whatever this planets' version of bees are and try ourselves?

Maybe. I don't really know when now is. I'm sure the spirit of the celebration is enough in trying times, even if we don't get the dates and stuff quite right.

I'm horrible at the dates. I'm not very good at this.

Do you think I have it all memorized? It's a lot of stuff to remember, on a whole different calendar. You can't be bad at it as long as you're trying.

[Tommy sighs and shakes his head.]

I just do my best with learning. It's a new thing for me to learn.

[Billy smiles a little.]

I like that you're learning. I kind of worried Mom and Dad might have scared you off the whole thing.

They did, for a while. No, it was uh... David. He knows a lot of the traditions and all that.

[Sorry Billy, he's gotta be honest there.]

He encouraged me to look into all of it.

[Billy nods, looking a bit regretful for whatever transpires between the two of them, but he's still happy for Tommy.]

Candles, I... Actually I brought some back from Risa. Unless this needs particular ones, they... Might work?

I don't think the type is going to matter as much as having them. How many can you spare me?

I will let you know that I got these while I wasn't sure if this city has something comparable to electricity. I was fully prepared to use these for light, possibly heating - Christ, making tea!
