Lost in the Echo

WHO: Cal Kestis & BD-1
WHERE: Beachside and the caves
WHAT: After being badly shaken by the last storm, the padawan tries to find his path again. Unfortunately he ends up in someone else's.
WHEN: End of Novemberish
WARNINGS: N/A

He'd thought that some time outside of the city would help. Clearly attempting to work on things had not, and after mounting frustration in not being able to find his focus to get the Replicator working again, Cal had opted to take a break. The beach is relatively new territory for him despite knowing it was there. Back on Risa going to the beach had proved relatively calming, so he hopes that maybe he'll be able to find some better space for meditation out here. Instead, he feels a pull, like something beckoning.

Drawn to the nearby caves, Cal feels like the air itself is alive. BD-1 seems more restless, swinging about and shifting from one shoulder to the other to look around as they cautiously proceed. The call of something is undeniable then, so much so that he hasn't realized just how far within they've wandered. It's distracting, but at the same time in a subtle, strange way, enticing. He feels more than sees anything along the cavern walls they pass, the pulse of energy, so much stronger than what he's sensed in the crystal rods they were using for batteries in the city. His thoughts drift to the conversation in the power plant, about the life of a planet, the concerns in such energy use, the similarities...

Cal closes his eyes and reaches out through the Force. He is completely unprepared for the surge of power that reaches back. The world suddenly opens up to him, but so much overlaps that nothing truly comes into focus, but a small mercy. It feels like he can sense everything, each familiar presence of the people he's come to know here, the general buzz of the wildlife that tends to keep just outside of the city, the secretive ones who dwell in the hidden places within. It's like flipping incessantly between frequencies, catching only glimpses, clips, but the pulse of something darker swallows it all like a great, yawning chasm.

Fear, pain, distress- these emotions swell and take shape around him as though he can see past the walls, down every tunnel that winds through the caverns. He's running with a number of Agrii carrying what things they can, supporting each other, desperate and afraid as they seek refuge from the things they do not understand that happen outside. Together they huddle in alcoves, waiting for the dreaded storms to pass, all they can do is hide. He can barely tell between the beginnings and endings, he experiences them all at once, feels the loss as those who succumb to the storms' effects, gripped by the stifling fear as one wondering when it will all end, if it would end…

It's a drowning sensation and he can't shut it out. Distantly he hears BD-1 squeal, and weakly he reaches out, feeling blind to everything around him, so swept up in the echoes of the past and the power the cave offers too freely. His fingers close around something, and for a sweet, brief moment he finds space to breathe as the past wavers against the present, but he's soon curling in upon himself as he hears the urgent voices of the Agrii, the welling panic as they flee- to cover, must hide! Death comes...!

((OOC: This got a little wordy so I figured I'd just make it a narrative. Will have BD-1 scream at people on the network...after I sleep.))
