So, uh... question.

[Keith looked curious as he was looking at a map of the town that had been coming together...]

Has anyone checked out the residential area down by the flood plain? I was thinking of heading down there in a day or two. Wouldn't mind some back up in case I meet anything less than welcoming on the way.

I could go, especially if you think you may need back up in the form of someone who can manipulate metals and magnetic things.

[Keith was only sort of used to the idea of real magic thanks to both quintessence back home and being in Drift Fleet. He didn't fully understand a lot of it, but it was something that existed. Though, Coran called it 'science'. Whatever.

[Tommy and Kosmo were great in emergencies with getting communications around.]

[Keith wasn't sure how to take that, and he outright hesitated, debating on if he should try to explain himself or not.]

I just mean... from a strategic standpoint. I mean, I wouldn't mind having you along anyway, but there's an added bonus to it that's just a nice-to-have.

Look, I'm just... keeping track of things in case stuff goes weird out there, that's all. It's better to be prepared.

[Already happy to have him along? Wow. That's nice. It really does make him smile.]

Prepared is good. And good on you to consider it.

[Keith smiled a little and then nodded.]

I guess it just comes from what I've been doing the past few years. We try to be prepared as best we can, you know?

But thanks for the offer. I'll work on getting a day when we can all go. Or a few days. I don't know how long this'll take.

[Keith opened his mouth to say something, and then just shook his head, ending the feed.]

Just be careful with the flood plains themselves. That lake is much deeper than it appears and has turned out to be inhabited by various creatures willing and able to eat us.

Thanks for the advice. I'll keep an eye out.

Have you seen any of the creatures? So that I know what I'm looking for.

The big one we encountered was deep underwater and may not come to the surface. But there are those swarms of... They look like an odd cross between a squid and a fish? They attack in swarms and actually organize those attacks pretty well, aiming to immobilize their target via poison.

Again, they are within the lake and may not actively come up to hunt. But it's something to keep in mind when you explore that area. There still may be other creatures we haven't come across yet...

[Keith nodded to himself.]

Alright. As long as it's not crawling out of the water, then I think we'll be okay if we keep our distance.
