1 ✧ A Night at the Opera

WHO: Jadzia Dax
WHERE: The opera house and the lab
WHAT: Poking around in some of the city's outskirts.
WHEN: This takes place after the 'air rows' signs appeared.
WARNINGS: None at the moment!

If it weren't labeled in Klingon, it wouldn't have been as interesting.

While she's been something of a cultural connoisseur over her assorted lifetimes, Jadzia won't deny that she'd inherited an enduring fascination with all things Klingon from Curzon--and one most of her crewmates sadly didn't share.

Seeing the label here made her wonder, not for the first time, about what the Agrii were like, and how much they knew about their chosen champions. Had they put the sign there to entice her? Because of course it was working. With her bat'leth tied to her back using a vine as a makeshift rope, Jadzia forged a path through the overgrown lawn to the check out the building.

These signs weren't quite as simple to read as the Klingon had been, but she got the gist after riddling out the binary code. The row of buildings seemed to have been laboratories once, though they and the equipment within is all derelict, some salvageable and some clearly beyond repair.

Maybe she can find tools here to help her repair Julian's tricorder; having a tool like that would make things much easier on them, especially if she'd be able to easily scan their food items for compounds that might be harmful to her symbiont.

Wildcard!

Bones looks mildly horrified that Jadzia speaks Klingon. Even though the war with them is over, the Federation and the Klingon Empire still generally keep their distance. As far as he knew, the Trill weren't necessarily on better terms with them than anyone else was.

"Doesn't matter what it says. We've got a sign in Klingon. Doesn't that mean they've been here before?"

He has seen the other signs around the city, some of which in symbols that didn't even look like writing to him. He relaxes a fraction, but Bones is never truly relaxed. If Jadzia got Klingon, then what's he going to get?

"Yeah?" He asks. "Brave of him to go into Klingon territory." In his limited experience with them, they're not the negotiating type.

He shrugs. "Sure. Why not?" Bones doesn't have much else better to do right now, and he was kind of exploring anyway before he ran into Jadzia.

She's pretty skilled with a bat'leth, Bones thinks, watching as she cuts away at vines and twigs. Clearly the Klingons and the Federation have come to some sort of agreement in her time.

"It's not that I think they're terrible," Bones says. "They just seem to hate us and so I'd rather steer clear. I'm a doctor, not a diplomat." If anyone could probably broker a peace between the Klingons and the Federation, it was Jim.

He moves behind her, trying to help by pulling some branches out of the way. "I did go to Ole Miss, and I remember being at a few gymnastics competitions during my residency as the medical professional on call in case someone got injured. I don't think I ever met your former host though."

Trill were kind of unique. He feels like he'd probably remember if he had met one before.
