WHO: Bucky!Cap (FINALLY!)
WHERE: Medical bay on the Agrii ship (closed to Steve first, then anyone who wants to visit him later); on the network
WHAT: WAKING UP and some apparent brain fog? Hm, what's up with that...
WHEN: Return journey (current)
WARNINGS: N/A, will mark any threads as necessary
In the med bay (action/spam):
[Bucky wakes up slowly. Groggily. Like he's been put under and getting back to wakefulness is a slow, struggling slow through molasses. Everything feels heavy and his head is pounding halfheartedly as his eyes finally, finally struggle open and -
Where the fuck is he?
He jolts in the bed he's in, still feeling like he's been hit in the head with a sledgehammer but also like he's just been hit with a shot of pure adrenaline. Waking up confused, groggy, and with no idea of where he is is never ideal.]
Later, over the network:
[It's a little while after waking up that he actually gets on the network to try to catch up. But boy howdy, when he does…
You know what? He gives up about five minutes in and just clicks the video on.]
Okay. Somebody want to tell me what the ever-loving hell I just missed?

[He's smirking, universally a bad sign, and doesn't even hesitate; as far as he knew of Steves out there in the multiverse, they weren't an overtly jealous breed. It didn't matter that this was public, right?]
You want to find out how cute I am in my sleep? I'll even bring you breakfast, like a gentleman. I can carry about four pots at once. If I can figure out where to get coffee around here.
no subject
Howabout I take you up on the food and coffee, and we worry about the details later.
[He'd... actually like to talk to Stark about what the hell is going on. He'll have the technical viewpoint, and while Bucky's no engineer, he'd still like the information.]

[There is only one place for food, if you're not looking for gelatinous bricks. Details. Tony's clearly already moving.]
I can come get you, if you need an orderly. I don't want to try asking these guys for a wheelchair, I'm not going to imagine how they'll interpret a request like that, but we can make it work.
no subject
Also? I can walk. Apparently disappearing doesn't mean your legs stop functioning, how about that?
[He's waiting, though. Maybe not so patiently, but this place gives him the creeps.]

[Did anyone tell Bucky he missed a month yet? It's out there now.]
I hope they checked you for blood clots. And bed sores. Were they turning you? Listen, I don't know if you've seen any of these guys yet, but they're kind of, uh, damp. Well moisturized. They don't get the same skin issues, you have to speak up for your own care here.
[He's mostly talking to fill the space as he winds around the corridors to find the med bay, not a place he's typically hanging around.]

[He just wants out of here, okay. Especially after a month, because shit. It beats a decade or few, but it is still Less Than Ideal.]
I... haven't seen anyone. [Now he sounds wary. Can you blame him?] Yet. I guess it sounds like I'll know 'em when I see them.
Just get here and give me the tour of the rest of the place, or whatever.
[Frankly, Bucky's probably going to meet him at the door.]

[The video cuts abruptly there, and the hall outside the medical bay is silent, like this offence might have been enough to make Tony cut off caring, too.
He's just taking his time, easing his way along and not nearly alert enough to handle Bucky being right there as the door pops open, making him startle backward with an irritated glare.]
Alright, I get it, you're incredibly energetic for an invalid, we're not worried about you, calm down.
no subject
Look, I mean - whatever happened to me ain't natural. If you can't admit that, we're gonna have a problem, right?
[He peers out into the hallway, because seriously. What even is this... ship.]
no subject
You saw the big guy already, right? I mean, he's usually hanging around, if you want to stick around I'm sure he just went to the bathroom or something, I don't think he'd go far...
[Mostly, this did feel very suddenly like Tony had been left alone with a friends' partner. Which he could usually handle, but he was very aware that he was at something of a disadvantage here; presumably, Bucky had a Tony and knew what to expect.]
We get along, right?
[Even the playing field a little bit for him, he doesn't really know what to do with you yet.]
Listen, you know, I got Steve out of the gashapon, so, if you've got some severe personality defect, you've got to warn me, I don't have the training.
no subject
[Which is annoying. Turnabout might be fair play, but come on, Steve.
Of course, at the next question, he looks confused - and he also has no idea what the hell a gashapon is, but that's how a lot of conversations with (his) Tony seem to go - you just have to let shit like that fly by and try to decipher it from context.]
I mean. We don't... not get along. Entirely, [he finally admits.] But you're not him, so I figure all the same rules don't apply, right?
Not exactly sure what kinda defects you might mean, though, pal.
[Like, he's got two flesh arms and a (mostly - thanks Agrii or Atroma or whoever) intact memory, so.]
no subject
Yeah, Steve made that pretty clear. But, you know, broad strokes. You're prepared for me to be brilliant and irresistible, presumably, and all I've got for you is that you're allergic to being alive. Hey, I'm not that far off.
no subject
He's just a little wary. He's learned to be, sure, but part of him always was. Where Steve is trusting, Bucky is wary. One of them has to be.
But he can't help but snort out a bit of a laugh.] Yeah, that's not... me, me. I mean, shit, Steve's the idiot with no self-preservation skills. I took HYDRA's plane down, sure, but -
[Well. He'd lost Steve. Maybe he hadn't wanted to walk away from that one. Moving on.]
Of the two of us, trust me when I say that I'm the one who knows how to watch his back.
[Still,] I don't think I'm like the guy you know. Or even the other guy - guys? - here with my face. I'm the odd man out.
no subject
[Broad strokes seem to be serving them pretty well when it comes to Steve, but maybe that's because the multiverse also couldn't compete with his sheer stubbornness.]
Yeah, the other guy, he's--...
[Also not someone Tony knew well, here or any equivalent on his Earth, but said he would kill Tony then immediately claimed Tony's hands, so Tony might have been slightly in love.]
Different. At least you look like him, I'm starting to think the little kid on my trading cards isn't really Bucky Barnes at all. Here--mess hall. You're going to love this.
no subject
[Steve is Steve is Steve, no matter what universe you're in.
And maybe he'd say something else, about whatever Bucky Bares is on those trading cards, but hey, here is the mess hall, and Bucky suddenly realizes,] I'm starving.
Please tell me they have real food.
[Real food may or may not be open to interpretation.]
no subject
[A distinctly tactful answer as Tony leads them through the hall and to the kitchen, where he leans on the counter and has to immediately beg off the Agrii waiting there from taking both of his hands.]
