[Open] the journey is half the adventure
WHO: Teddy, OTA
WHERE: Graq Planet, Agrii Ship
WHAT: Seed gathering, PB&J adventures, and more!
WHEN: During the Return Journey
WARNINGS: N/A
Graq Planet
1; Deciding to take a detour trip to drop off the Graq had been an easy decision to make for Teddy, who is tired of ships and space travel at this point and welcomes the idea of having solid ground beneath his feet and fresh air in his lungs. Not to mention more room to move around. And it doesn't take him very long after arriving to find what he assumes is the town marketplace.
He's on the hunt for fresh food, tasting as many of the new plants as his stomach has room for, when he catches the attention of a few of the crafts-makers. When his sword catches their attention to be exact. Soon he has a couple of the Graq grouping up behind him, trying to get a better look at the weapon strapped to his back. Questions and comments fly about where he got it, trading, and even ways to enhance it. A frazzled Teddy cranes his neck, searching desperately for an escape route.
"Look, it's definitely not for sale -- or trading. I like it the way it is. Don't you dare spit on it!"
2; When Teddy sets out from the village he does so in the pursuit of gathering seeds from the delicious plants this planet has to offer to take back to Agra 10. He brings a plain sack with him that he slowly begins filling up. His process is a little rough, including a lot of breaking the plants open to search for seeds.
Eventually, he takes a break. Turning his attention to the nearby mountain face, he scales it with ease, and once at the top he seats himself on the cliff edge, letting his legs dangling over. He gets captured by the view from higher up and ends up sitting there for a long time.
The Agrii Ship
3; The discovery of the mess hall is an experience marked with joy quickly followed by resignation. The idea that the Agrii had to have better taste in food than the gel is quickly rejected at Teddy's first taste of an iced tea tasting apple.
What doesn't go out of style though? The delicious taste of a good PB&J...even when you're not expecting it. Teddy is currently munching on what he had assumed to be a tuna sandwich but which has a distinctly not tuna flavor. But he can't complain. It could be worse. He has had worse. It could have been iced tea again.
"You know...I don't think I mind the all sandwiches tasting like peanut butter and jelly thing. I mean, it's a classic for a reason."
4; Wildcard
[Choose your own adventure! Teddy can be found exploring the ship pretty much everywhere. He's not a pilot and has no real experience to help with figuring out the core, but that doesn't mean he won't check things out and throw out ideas. Even if it's just 'dear god don't touch the red button'. Come on, everyone should know that. Or, if you want to plot something you can reach me at

They've just gotten on good terms with the Graq and they certainly don't need any incidents that ban them from returning to this planet.
Luckily, Cayde's greeting comes just in time, preventing Teddy from having to make that choice. When he turns and sees the familiar face of the Exo his own expression lights up in relief. A few of the Graq step aside easily enough, allowing Cayde to get closer.
"Hey. Man, I'm really glad to see you." His eyes quickly glance between the surrounding Graq and the Exo, his brows furrowing together in a silent plea. Help.
no subject
He looks at Teddy and then closes the distance between them, hooking an arm around the kid's shoulders before trying to steer them both along and away from the Graq gathering. The bird under his other arm squawks, making a few of the furry locals jump, side-eyeing the Exo as they mutter in their grunt-like language amongst themselves. Clearly they haven't worked out what to think of Cayde, and he's perfectly fine with that.
"How's the sightseeing been going?" he asks Teddy.
no subject
The bird's squawking finally draws Teddy's attention away from his own predicament and he can't help but grin at the creature.
"Got a replacement for your chicken back home?" He's never going to forget about that. Ever.
no subject
Chuckling, he gives the bird a bounce. "A replacement? There are no replacements for Colonel," he insists. "But I was thinking if we had a few of these birds around back on Temba, we could have a farm or something to supply for other than questionable alien veggies and fruit and paste. Initially I was thinking eggs but I think someone said something about 'em being uncrackable."
no subject
But Cayde's explanation peaks his interest and his expression lights up at the idea of a farm. Gathering some livestock together would definitely broaden their resources. "Uncrackable eggs? That kind of defeats the entire purpose of eggs. Have you heard if they're valuable at least? They could be good for trading."
no subject
He wags a finger in the air, jerking it back when the bird attempts to snap at it. "Yeah, about that. The Graq just spit on them to get through the shells. That's...not an option we'll have back in Temba but I'm wondering that there isn't any other way to get through. Have you seen the size of these suckers when they're full-grown though? Those drumsticks are almost as big as I am!"
no subject
Ah, Graq spit. The gift that keeps on giving. "Maybe there's some kind of tool that be use to crack the shell? Or maybe we can make one. Actually, I know just the person who can help with something like that. Have you met a guy named Tony yet?"
no subject
Cayde laughs then. "Heh...have I met Tony- yeah, we've been hangin' out a lot. He's the one that helped me wrangle this chick. I'm thinking he might not be so crazy about anything else to do with these birds so long as he can help it."
no subject
"I think he might be more in his own element with what I'm thinking. He's one of the greatest inventors of our world, so if anyone can create a tool for cracking those eggs, it'll be him."
no subject
Oh, it could have been disastrous, but thankfully they'd managed to get away with only a few scrapes and bruises. "An' then this one, she kept on nudging at him expecting food and wouldn't leave him alone," he snickers.
Somehow he's not terribly surprised that Tony's made out to be one of Teddy's world's greatest inventors. He's done some impressive things...and some dumb things, like take out the power grid on Temba, but hey. He at least was intent on fixing it.
"He's also the guy that said he wanted to make babies with me the first time we met," Cayde chuckles, but he's since learned how much of an interest Tony's had in technology. "Guess that means we'd need some eggs to test that theory- er... the cracking them thing, not the...making babies- anyway. -Don't know how much longer anyone plans on staying. Also, giant birds are fun and all but I think I'd rather be back on the ship than stuck here."
no subject
"Seems like next time you two should pack some snacks. Who doesn't react well to being offered food? Unless...they see you as food." Which, he's pretty sure isn't the case with the large bird.
Teddy's mouth drops open in surprise as Cayde describes his first meeting with Tony.
"Well that's...forward of him. But coming from him it's probably a compliment." He doesn't sound very sure about this, but then again, he doesn't know the man super well on a personal level. But he sure does love his tech. "Heh...Yeah, once she lays a few eggs Tony might be able to study them. Maybe figure out what they're made of. But we have to get it back to Temba first. Are you planning to take one of the shuttles back to the ship soon? I might tag along."
He's gotten the things he's come for, more or less. And he's keen to no longer be such a focus of attention.
no subject
He smiles lopsidedly. "Kid, I think Tony is forward by default." The man certainly spoke his mind, anyway. Maybe he's different around people he knows from back home, while it's easier to say whatever to complete strangers.
Absently giving the bird a pat on the head even as she attempts to grasp at his fingers again, Cayde nods at Teddy. "Soon, yeah. I was gonna grab some more rocks first. Wanna tag along?"
no subject
Teddy grins and nods his head. He really can't argue against that. Tony definitely isn't afraid to speak his mind. But the fact that he's known Teddy and his teammates since they were teens definitely changes the nature of their interactions. Mostly.
"For rock collecting? Sure. We've gotta keep this girl well fed." He reaches out, dancing his fingers just out of the bird's reach.
no subject
He beams as Teddy agrees to accompany him in gathering rocks. The baby bird tries to flap around a bit as she starts stretching out her neck for Teddy's fingers, making the Exo have to readjust his hold around her. "Heh! Sure do. Haven't named her yet either. You got any suggestions?"
