Event: All Alone
The storm clears, finally, and the strange Calibrations you were forced into have subsided as well. You all are freed back to your Temba homes and to whatever projects you may have been kept from during the last month. For a week, at least, all is normal.
Or close to normal. Strangely, the Agrii are not communicating with you after this ordeal. Ga Re is not sending a message explaining what happened. The He Row Soup Lies is quiet. Even with the replicator damaged, there is absolutely no word from anyone at all for a solid week and a half. Until, finally, you awaken one morning to a blinking message on your communicator. It’s Ga Re’s voice underneath static and the sounds of a storm. Or maybe a battle. There is no visual to help figure out what is going on.
‘He-Rows. It Ga Re. I mess sage get to you soon as could! Agrii help need! Us diss-a-peer! Start be fore Temba storm and no stop! Ship now empty. I alone. Need help. Please help! Send now you map to us ship. Will open gate and give data for death tools. He-rows need come here. Please come! Please help! New bad pea-pull hurt both us. But us and they will win. Her-ree, he-rows. I hold here long as ca-’
The message ends abruptly. Attached to it is the map that only a Pilot can read. It charts a course from Agra 10 to a ‘Port All’ in space and then onward to ‘Home Ship.’ The journey looks as though, at top speed, it would take a week or so. There is no information other than that.
Any attempts to trace the message or to contact Ga Re will be met with the same dead silence that you have been getting since Calibrations. It is as though everyone is gone, even though that bright light in the distance still blinks in the night.
Right now, heroes are on their own. You have nothing but directions to a ship and the burden of an S.O.S. to either answer or leave alone. This choice is yours but it needs to be made quickly. Are you going to help the Agrii or are you staying behind on the quiet planet, knowing there is no more safety net in place? Decide.
Once you do, if you are heading out, there are things you should probably take care of. Perhaps you should start getting your ship ready to head out. The journey seems long and will need a great deal of prep so Engineers, Pilots, Medics, and Security will have their work cut out for them.
Security? What Security, you might ask.
The Security Data Point opens up inside the Soup Lies room the same day the message. Along with the new glowing orb, gun-like weapons line the walls. Enough for anyone who might want one. Although, to use it, you will need the data point. Otherwise you risk hurting yourself. ‘Death Tools,’ Ga Re had said. This must be them and Ga Re must believe you’ll need them.
That can’t be good.
But for now, you have things to do. You have to choose to stay behind with the planet or to go off and answer the request for help. You have to prepare those going and ready everyone for what they might see. And then, at the end, you must say goodbye to Agra 10 for awhile as you take off to places unknown.
Good luck, Heroes. Hopefully you won’t need it.
This is Part 1 of a multi-part event. It will begin July 22 with your characters receiving the message.
Prepping your ships won't take long, so you can assume characters take off within a day or two of receiving the message.
They'll travel through space and, while en route, have an optional mini-event July 29-August 3.
Then, they'll complete their journey August 3-5.
By this time, we'll have provided more info on the full second part, which will begin August 5 when the characters reach the portal and go through it.
We've had a bit of shuffling re: characters coming and going and switching expertise. Your characters may find that their ship assignment has shifted. Here are the new ship assignments, effective as of July 22. Also listed are characters who claimed an expertise by mid-July: P: Pilot, E: Engineering, M: Medical, A: Agriculture, C: Communications.
Remember that characters can change expertise anytime. If any ship ends up without a pilot, another pilot can board (with permission) to plot the necessary course and engage the autopilot before returning to their own ship. Characters can move between ships via the shuttles - each ship has two - but will need a current crew member of the ship they're visiting to open the door and let them in (i.e., you can't enter a ship you're not assigned to without a current crew member letting you on).
So what’s going on?
TL;DR: No, I wrote all of that so READ IT! WHY DON’T YOU LOVE ME ENOUGH TO READ IT?!
JK.
You are heading into space toward where the Agrii have a home-ship. This is a two-part event so right now you are gearing up for what happens when the next part drops in a couple of weeks. This part is all about getting ready for what seems like a battle of some sort. It is also going to take you off-planet for a while so leave pets (and/or babies) with someone responsible or take them along.
What happens if we stay on Agra 10?
This is the Opt Out for the event. There isn’t going to be events happening on the planet so you are free to continue exploring or to make Network posts to communicate with those that are on the ships. If your character would ICly not get on the ship but you need a reason to push them, talk to the mods and we will come up with some reason to compel the character.
What if my ship’s pilot doesn’t want to go/What if my ship's pilot changes expertise?
Ideally we want a pilot on each ship. If we get into a situation where one ship has a lot of people opting out or hiatusing or whatever, the ship just needs a different pilot to come in and program the course so automatic processes can take care of it. Anything extra, though, you will need to borrow from another ship.
What if I hiatus for half the event and not the other half?
If you need to hiatus you can have the option of just popping back in like a daisy this time. How? Magic of plot device, idk. Don’t look behind the curtain! But you will have two choices: either coming back on YOUR ship or choosing to come back on Ga Re’s ship (when we get there). How? Stop asking that.
So there are no Agrii?
None that you can talk to. All Agrii communication is now cut off and Soup Lies is not going to respond.
What if I have a weapon but don’t want to do Security?
All limits on weapons that have come with a character as their special item are hereby lifted. No one is watching so they can now be used against Heroes (but like. Don’t be a dick and kill the town. That’s just rude) and they can be used during this event without the Security Data Point. Any skills a character has in fighting is theirs regardless.
THAT SAID. If you pick up an Agrii gun and try to shoot it, you are going to have it backfire in your face and cause some nasty burns. You NEED the Security Data Point to shoot these guns and, later on, you will need the Security Data Point for any other weapons that show up/any weapon capabilities on ships.
Is this a trap?
Could be!
Are the Agrii really in danger?
Could be!
Are we ever coming back to Agra 10?
Yes. You will have the ability to come back. It just might be a little while.
As always, please drop questions below if there's anything we appear to have forgotten or anything you'd like to ask!

Yeah, we're covered. Thanks.

What about the Drift Fleet-given Atroma implant with Security specialty? Initial thinking the weapons are okay and later malfunctions? Enough familiarity to cause trouble? WEAPONS MYSTERIOUSLY TURN INTO SUPER SOAKERS?!?
Keep in mind that I am all for guns blowing up in this asshole's face, just wondering if there's going to be any Atroma/Agrii conflict of technology here (does anyone even want to play that...?).
no subject
However....... There might be some things you recognize and could work with elsewhere. Talk to Tony, Jon, or Cal.
no subject
I mean
Nothing to see here, nothing to see...
Regarding those Agrii weapons, is it possible to field strip one down? What's the success of doing so, and of getting it back together. For, you know, Reasons...
Definitely hitting up those other characters too ;)
no subject
I have prepared the other characters with what they can do with you. What you should know is that ANYTHING they show you is Atroma. Soldier should be able to recognize it instantly.

which he doesn't have strong feelings for at all let me tell youso I'd image Agrii tech is just different enough to get him in trouble, mwahahahahahaHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. But electrocution!!!! You are delightfully evil and I love it.I appreciate all the info and heads up! Now if work would only calm down enough to let me finish a post...

Soldier and Cal are doing some breaking and entering because it's what all the cool kids do these days. What sort of things can they find? Obviously not going for anything too useful here, I'm not that nice to them, but are we okay for things like basic tools/supplies?
If you want to troll us, please please do!no subject
But let's just go ahead because that seems fun.
What can you find behind the door? Some weird ass things. There are tables. Just lots and lots of tables. All identical. All pretty short by Agrii standards but normal for you guys. On them are pretty much random pieces of crap. But normal pieces of crap. Pocket knives, cups, plates, brushes, combs, toothbrushes, mirrors, reams of cloth, umbrellas?! Just all sorts of seemingly random pieces of crap. Nothing TOO useful. Just like. Every-day useful. And all covered in like, three inches of dust and...cobwebs? What animal in Temba makes cobwebs? We haven't seen spiders around, have we?
Maybe not yet....

I hope they aren't Kashyyyk-sized...
Okay, of course I gotta ask! Anything Cal can "read"?
no subject
Cal can read the same trapped feeling that he had elsewhere. He can also, perhaps, see memories of these tables being used as trading sites/shops. Many different people coming and going and that's about it.
no subject
Cool! Well, not really cool- those are terrible and not at all very reassuring feelings :I Iiiinteresting memories though! Thanks!

Just to make sure... The new Security Point will override a character's previous data point? Meaning for example a Pilot can't pick it in addition to their piloting to also be able to wield a weapon?

He will hit up that security data point and then figure out borrowing a pilot for any hairy situations.
no subject
tributePilot despite not even having a driver’s license XDI mean- There at Least three dozen better candidates around, but he will TOTALLY try and be helpful WHEREVER possible. And yes, that means somewhere down along the line Jon will pick up the Security data point and it won’t go well.
Spoiler: You don’t want him in your pilot’s seat.
no subject
If Cloud catches wind Jon picked up the security data point he could help him but he might also just tell him to keep his gun pointed away from him and others. Jon should be able to manage that.
no subject
Obviously he knows weapons are dangerous, but... BUT!
....he’s curious, okay.....?
no subject
God, you're allowed to be curious but not in that way. Lmao
no subject
But I also agree that he’d be a hilarious sight in a pilot seat. Which is likely much bigger than him and he’s just looking around for an instruction manual or a pamphlet with space traffic rules.

Yes, there are shields too.
EDIT: Sorry, I was in the mentality of the event. On the ship there is not. BUT! The new mini event has these items for you.

Thanks XD
