I ▹ INFORMATION

[ One thing Garak has learned can be more valuable than virtually anything is information. The bright orb waiting for him upon arrival was useful, but incredibly lacking in many aspects, and Garak finds himself needing more to know what he's dealing with.

Yes, he realizes that a dying species likely had other things to worry about than just how much information they left readily available for others to come, but that doesn't mean some isn't laying around somewhere. He takes to exploring each and every building, pushing through the overgrown plants to step inside, climbing up stairs where he can manage, poking his head into different rooms as he passes them.

He'll approach any computer screen he finds, and he'll promptly open the nearest control panel to try and see what the circuitry looks like, and if there's any chance to get power running through it again. When that fails, he heads back outside and walks towards the outskirts of the city, trying to find whatever path the power might have once followed, hoping to find some sort of energy central.

The same goes for the plumbing system. At least plenty of people seem invested in getting power back up again, but Garak has a feeling they will all be in dire need of a decent bath sooner or later, and things will get rather unbearable if they don't get the plumbing working again.

If he finds anyone else exploring anywhere he happens to go, he'll smile at them, tilting his head all too politely. ] Greetings. May I ask what you're looking for? Perhaps it's the same as I, and we can help each other.

II ▹ CULTURE

[ Garak has found himself a place to sleep in at the rundown hotel. It's far from perfect, and he fully plans on finding something better eventually, but for the moment it has a door, a mostly intact window, and a whole ceiling. The bathroom has a tub that could be filled with water for a bath if need be, and having pushed the bed frame aside, Garak has gathered a few old blankets and sheets to serve as a small bed by a darker, warmer corner of the room.

He's not sleeping currently, however. Door open, he's sitting on those blankets, legs crossed, hunched over what looks like some kind of electronic device in his hands. He runs his fingers over the screen with a frown on his face, tapping and clicking like he's looking for something...

And then music just starts playing. Garak groans, eyes practically rolling back on his head. ] Oh, useless.

((ooc: Garak is new and can be found pretty much all over town, wherever you'd like to run into him I'm game! Feel free to write your own adventure, or friend/ping me @ extreminator if you'd like to plan something out!))

Trust me. If it wasn't in one piece, Buck would probably use my innards as thread to sew it back up.

[ Despite the graphic threat, Steve is smiling and shaking his head as though to say 'What can you do?'. ]

It's a special coat. He got it back in the last place we were at, before Agra 10. I take pretty good care of it, basket not withstanding.

[ Garak lets out a laugh. Not for a moment does it believe that to be true, of course, but it comes across as a tender sentiment. ]

Then I'm sure he will be glad that it's been in good hands thus far. I'm not sure I would trust anyone with my most prized possessions.

[ Not that he has many, but still. ]

[It comes out a little sad but not overly so. It is very possible that no one is here that he would trust. Not that no such person existed. But what can Steve say? After being alone for so long he's sensitive to it in others. ]

You and Julian seem to be close enough. From the same place, at least? Don't wanna let him have your Ipad?

[ Yes. Steve thinks the PADD is an Ipad. ]

[ Garak smiles plainly, not a trace of sadness to it. He's grown used to it, to not having anyone that's too close to him. Perhaps Julian is and will always be an exception to that rule, but nevertheless he'll never feel inclined to discuss it with a mere acquaintance. ]

We have known each other for nearly six years now, and lived among the same space station for just as long. Regardless, it would be a little redundant to give this to him, as this PADD actually used to belong to him. He gave it to me so I could access some of your precious Human literature and music.

[ Steve gives a low whistle. ]

Six years. No wonder you're both so close.

And that is nice of him to have given it to you. I take it you like...Human things? I'd love to hear some of your people's music, if you had some.

Or...if there is music where you're from?

[ Garak just smiles at the first comment. Seems like far too personal a topic to be discussing with a recent acquaintance, even if Steve seems perfectly friendly. ]

Like may be too strong a word. I enjoy reading the books that Julian lends me, and hearing the music he shares with me, and most of all I enjoy discussing the various flaws that I find in them. Likewise I've provided him with various Cardassian works. He tends to have, ah... very strong opinions on them.

[ His brow raises at the question, head tilting. ] But of course we do! Cardassia was once known for being home to the finest art and architecture in the quadrant. That extends not only to painting and sculpture, but music and acting as well.

I'd like to see some of it. If...you have any examples?

[He doesn't press the fact that Garak seems to have a bit of a critical outlook on Human things. Honestly, Steve can take a look back at his propaganda films and join right in on the flaw-dissections, let alone what Bucky could add into it.

Might actually be an interesting night, honestly.]

I'd ask if the Agrii could provide some but I've seen what people walk out with from the Soup Lies...
