Seeking Out A Good Friend(s)

WARNINGS: No one is going to die. No one is going to get hurt. Cloud needs to tell the other two (Reeve and Vincent) about this planets familiarness to their own. Oh, Geostigma, is making a slight appearance. Because even a super soldier can only take so much of that ickiness and I was heavy hinting at it in the previous thread. death is mentioned. I'll update as I go, I'm being terrible right in the beginning but it'll go to replicator talk I promise!

Cloud could do nothing about their current situation. Finding an exit had been near impossible, he's thought about that. He still thinks it's some kind of social experiment being done. It could be a mental training exercise. Cloud shuddered in those thoughts if this would be an actual test within SOLDIER. He knew that mako infusion could make anyone go crazy if they didn't have a strong will. It's not an easy thing to think about but also he's been told to not continue worrying otherwise it'll eat at you.

There's plenty of people here to find comforts in. He's more combatant of Cayde and Tony because of Tony wanting to get under his skin. He grits his teeth knowing that he's dealt with plenty of people like that. Cloud's constantly trying to prove himself and it still didn't truthfully matter where it went. Being here had its own struggles. He relived so many memories but he also knew how to handle things as they come at him. He's done too many planning that ended up in failure. People died, people got hurt, he couldn't do anything in those moments. Even when learning of an immediate threat there were times where he wasn't there to help. It was slowly starting to eat away at him. He couldn't really help anyone here at the moment. He could potentially die here tomorrow because of his own illness, he's got a lot of shit on his plate already. Bringing that topic up on a first date is a real mood killer.

As he wandered through the hallway, he would start weaving as if not really following that straight line forward. He recognizes what's happening and he's not going to be all that happy about it. Cloud puts his right hand up against the wall and leans against it with right shoulder. Cloud grabs hold of his left forearm shortly after squeezing harder than he had at the table. Why now? He felt his heart beat pulsing within his ears. Cloud shuts his eyes as he focuses on his breathing to try to calm the fast beating before he continued on.

He's thankful that he doesn't feel any wetness that he normally does. Cloud bandaged it enough in case something happened. But he's going to ran out of supplies eventually. After regaining his strength he stands up straighter and gains his composer to mosey down the hallway. Once he's in front of the name plate he wanted. 'Reeve Tuesti', he gives three sharp knocks with his knuckles of his right hand.

Vincent was not shy about his interest. His eyes moved to the doll, unable to help but stare with an intensified admiration for the sentient(?) toy. "Mini has advice for you then?"

"Yes. My Inspired Constructs have their own personalities. Cait Sith is very different in nature than Mini is. Perhaps it's because much of his development happened on his own, getting to the Golden Saucer, and then was shaped by the course he took with Avalanche. Sure, I was an influence, but not in the same way. Mini..."

He looks at the doll which waves at Vincent.

"This one has been shaped by interactions with other people. And he spends FAR more time concerned about my mental and physical well-being. As well as my life choices."

"Than you do?" Vincent couldn't help but respond, and his eyes were back on Mini. Something seemed a little different, and he attributed that to Reeve's explanation. "Mini has to be the one to look after you because you're neglecting to?"

"You've met me, Vincent. Of course more time than I do. He wants me to be... Well, happy. Content."

Are you really that shocked? Please don't be shocked. This is just who he is. Reeve offers a sad smile and shakes his head.

"He makes sure I sleep when I'm not here. He chides me to eat. He tries to tell me to... Well, he knows I let myself become stressed too easily."

Vincent looks as he feels: unsurprised. His eyes lingered on Mini. "What will make you happy, content?" He looked from the toy to Reeve.

The toy just shook its head, because it can't vocalize the answer. As for Reeve, he smiles.

"I'm not sure it's something that is easily found, or gained. I'm good enough with content, when it comes to it."

How was he supposed to say the answer was to feel... like he wasn't alone. Like he didn't have to live for only the work? It wasn't something that would make sense to Vincent, he suspected.

Content was an excellent place to want to be. Happiness, bliss, joy, they were all fleeting moments, but a state of content was sustainable over a longer period. "We can look for that together, with Cloud."

Almost immediately Reeve's cheeks go a bit scarlet. Because of course he's thinking of what more than contentment is at the moment, and the way that Vincent mentions 'look for that together, with Cloud' just turns him red as a cherry.

"Uh, yes. I'm sure you two will adjust well here once you have a chance to find a way to fit in."

Vincent doesn't understand the response of Reeve's cheeks warming with a blush. It made his stomach feel as if it went for a loop like he'd done a backflip. "Fit in?" He thought of the words he heard previously from Tony to Reeve. "We're weird.."

Those words. Yes, they were. They were strange, even for Reeve's experience of his own world. But that wasn't at al what he meant.

"I mean it in the manner of finding a place and a role in this strange world we find ourselves in. Though Vincent, given your knowledge of our world, would you call yourself particularly average? You are above and beyond average in every way, and I have never found that to be a particularly bad thing."

Above and beyond average.. And Cloud? He figured Reeve would have thought the same for Cloud as well. Vincent did not know what he should say, if anything, about himself. He felt Reeve meant his words as a compliment. Vincent was not obliged to convince anyone of thinking any different about him.

He did not care how others viewed him. At least, he thought so, but to know Reeve thought well of him felt good.

Well of course he thought well of Vincent. Why would he not? He was very fond of the man. Though of course he would never dare say it.

"You'll find a place, I do not doubt that. And I believe you shall even find friends here. I hope you do not forget me."

Vincent settled his eyes on Reeve. His brows indicated there was a frown behind the red collar that covered his mouth. "Forget you?" Vincent did not think he had any right to forget anything, let alone his friends.

"Never."

"Then may I presume that the next time I text you, I shall actually earn your response?" he asks, smirking just a little. He, after all, remembered how evasive Vincent had been of his texts. "I assure you, it shall not include me trying to win you to the WRO."

WRO-Reeve had told him about the organization with questionable financial backing. Still, it was a necessity for Gaia. Vincent averted his eyes. "I don't know what you're talking about." He opted to say, though he emphasized wanting to remember as much as he can - the words were a contradiction to his previous statement. Never forget you.. Except when it comes to texting back, evidently.

"Of course not," Reeve agrees. "No reason at all that you should know. But thank you, for coming when Mini came to find you."

Thank you, for coming when I needed you.

Vincent's eyes landed on the small toy. He watched it for a moment and considered the persistent way in which the replica insisted on following it. How could he deny it? He softly huffed through his nose.

"And clearly you're amused," Reeve smirks, and when he holds his hand out, Mini moves toward him, until the young man can put a hand in Reeve's and Reeve can pick the doll up.

It was cute, and such a thing was meant for amusement, right? He can imagine Denzel and Marlene taking to Mini, even Cait Sith, and his big moogle for that matter. Instead of riding around Barret's shoulder, Marlene could ride on top of the moogle. "Hn. It's easy to be around you."

What? Reeve's head snaps up and he considers the other. Then he shakes his head.

"I've become suspicious of that lately. But I welcome the company of any who thinks such a thing."

Something like that would probably make sense coming from Vincent, but coming from Reeve only has Vincent confused. Reeve appeared approachable; Vincent couldn't think of a time, recently, where Reeve wasn't.

"What happened?"

"There's no good answer for that," Reeve sighs. "Mostly, there are a lot of volatile personalities here and I do not know how to navigate them."

And so he's found himself so tired and so alone.

Vincent wouldn't deny the fact that some things didn't have a satisfactory answer, but Reeve's response to his question felt evasive and unsatisfactory. He didn't push or ask for any further clarification. Instead, he focused back on Mini.

Oh that silence feels accusatory. He knows it isn't, but it feels like such.

"I forgot, for a moment, that I'm someone who ties himself to his work and that more intimate interpersonal interactions are a mistake."

Mini's got a hand on his hip and a paw up to wag it at Reeve.

"I know your opinion. I don't agree," he informs the doll.

The sentient doll was something quite curious for Vincent. Vincent wondered if the doll possessed some a piece of Reeve. Perhaps, a link shared between the man and doll, which evoked personality from Mini. Reeve's comment about over flooding himself with work brought Vincent's focus back to the other man.

"You are determined, even here, to overwhelm yourself with...work?" He found, yet again, another question to ask - despite wanting to stop questioning Reeve.
