♤ Bored of Being Bored Because Being Bored is Boring
WHO: Cayde-6 and you!
WHERE: Around Temba and maybe its outskirts
WHAT: Catch-All for the rest of May, Cayde doing Cayde things
WHEN: From now until the end of the month
WARNINGS: N/A
Still Life (For Jon)
Although Cayde had given himself some wiggle room for the possibility of tardiness in his arrival due to distraction, there really isn't very much along the route to the library to do so, or around the city in general. Unless something was on fire (haha...who'd do that?) or there were some strange noises that begged investigation, nothing pulled the Exo off course as he wound his way to his destination.
"Jon?" In a building this big and this empty, his voice is much louder than intended, not that it seems to bother him terribly. He looks around for the Archivist and the still he'd come to help move, gaze sweeping the shelves as though in hopes of spotting anything new amongst the shelves. And when there proves none of the latter, not that he's terribly surprised, Cayde sets a book of his own in an innocuous spot, fancying it like a bit of a treasure hunt for the self-proclaimed librarian. No notes scrawled in this oneyet, a collection of some several novels of The Lone Ranger.
The Exo innocently continues along towards the desk he'd seen last time. "Am I late?"
The Hole In the Ground
It's big. It's gaping. And Cayde really wants to know what's going on in there. Of course, he'd feel better about jumping down a dark, mysterious hole in the ground with a loaded gun and plenty of spare ammunition. Having Sundance along for the ride would be even better. Yet that hasn't completely stopped him from considering...
He's standing at the edge, as close as he can get without pitching over as he tries to spy...well, anything, really. And if he's not doing that, he's looking for some rocks to toss in, just to listen for how far it is to the bottom. ...there's a bottom to this thing, right?
AKA the Greenhouse
The Exo's figured he should have a look at what all the agricultural building has to offer. It'd be nice to know what can be potentially made into drinks, basic and fermented, because what's a bar without beverages? That Tommy kid seemed to know about the stuff that was in here, at least. At this rate Cayde's sure anyone would know more than him in this place as he just stares at the spread of greenery, and are those blue bananas?
Yeah, this isn't exactly his scene.
The Bar Project
Maybe you've seen him in passing as he makes his way to and from the nest of buildings (O-13) in the southeastern (orange) quadrant of the city. It's an interesting collection of structures for the fact that whatever had happened in however much time had passed while Agra 10 had lapsed into disrepair, water had completely filled the space in the center of the small fortress-like formation, enclosed by the walls that adjoined each of the six towers making up the complex.
Sometimes he goes through a door. Other times he decides to be weird and scale the wall or one of the towers. He doesn't seem terribly concerned with being seen or followed, and should the latter find him in someone's otherwise unexpected company, well, he'll roll with it.
((OOC: As always, will match format if you prefer action over prose, etc!))

"Kind of weird though, don't you think? The library's wiped out, but there's still certain points sitting around and functional. Either they managed to set those up or they're tougher than the standard ones. Or someone went and broke things on purpose."
Cayde grins over his shoulder, not that he really catches a look at Jon with the motion, but he continues towards the orange sector. "Now why would I tell you where I live, expecting you to break into it. The stairs ain't so bad though, although after that blackout I guess maybe I should consider some lanterns or something so no one goes killing themselves on 'em. But the view's great. Main reason I scoped it out."
no subject
"To be fair, the spheres at the library were a lot smaller. More delicate than the ones we can find outdoors. I'm not surprised to find them more breakable, to be honest." A rather simple observation. "Still. It's a shame not a single one survived. I... I think I would have liked to have access to some more of their knowledge." The idea that someone destroyed them on purpose.... Well. It's not one Jon likes. But vandalism is a thing.
...and so is war.
He takes his eyes off the tower and back on the road ahead, adjusting the weight in his arms "Well. Maybe one day I come to check out the views - If you promise not to throw me off your tower."
no subject
It never fails, you go down one line of thought with the Agrii and branches of questions just sprout without you even trying. Cayde figures it's better to wait until they've got an opportunity to ask than to throw around assumptions. At least for now.
"Now what kind of person do you take me for?" he asks, turning on his heel to eye Jon before he smiles and whips around again to complete the twirl, his raggedy cloak trailing after him. "Anyway, I have no reason to be tossing anyone off my tower unless they came asking for it."
no subject
He does, however, incline his head a little at the Exo "You?" Jon asks, his voice shifting slightly at the challenge. "I take you for a reckless person, if you really want an answer to that. Little to lose, few attachments. Set for a purpose where you are from, yet lacking it here, away from all you knew before. A little lost, like all of us. Trying to find something to hold on to - And willing to take risks others would not dare to take. Make sacrifices others wouldn't. Honest - For the most part. Someone willing to lend a hand where it's needed, but also a little on the negligent side." He pauses and turns his head in a way to hide his face behind the items he is carrying. "I... I take you for a person I can trust. One of... Few."
no subject
The question had been more of a rhetorical one, a snappy comeback. An actual response is something Cayde hadn't expected, and he falls completely silent as the Archivist takes up the challenge. The Exo's steps slow in pace just a touch, the gravel crunching underfoot only seeming to emphasize the lack of anything said on his own part.
He continues to walk, continues to face forward, listening to every word said, every point listed. If Jon were firing a gun, he'd have punched a hole through the target, hitting the same mark with each subsequent shot.
The silence stretches on maybe a good few if perhaps uneasy seconds after Jon finally finishes with his confession. It's broken with a soft chuckle, one colored in genuine amusement.
"Remind me to never play poker with you," Cayde replies, stealing a glance over his shoulder with a shake of his head and the faintest suggestion of a smirk. "You'd have my tells all laid out before we played a second hand."
no subject
He flexes his hands while holding onto his share of the load, one hand a t a time, feeling a certain numbness creeping into his limbs.
"So... How much further down this road it is? We must have crossed most of the city by now." Don't quote him on this. He may be good at poker, but his sense of direction or feeling of distance is a disaster.
no subject
Cayde jerks his head in a nod towards a clump of tall buildings connected by walls in the near distance. "Just down that way. We can follow the main roads right by it." And it is a fair walk, he'd have to admit. That seems to be true for getting just about anywhere though. "Having a sparrow would really come in handy. Or even a car, I guess. You use those? All the ones I've seen are rusted out back home."
no subject
He directs his attention to the indicated buildings, inclining his head a little before admitting "Well, this is a part of the city I haven't been to yet." Then he nods at Cayde's question "Cars, yes. One of the most common means of transportation back on Earth. I... I never owned one. Don't even have a driver's license. There's a lot of public transport in London. Now... What's a sparrow?"
no subject
"Sparrows are basically bikes- no wheels, shoots across distances like an arrow, a lotta fun. Although probably not practical for transporting anything more than one or two people, so there's that."
no subject
"I feel that your idea of fun and mine vary, Cayde." Greatly. Jon may not mind a little speed, but being shot like an arrow? His stomach might disagree with that.
"Though I wonder if your world even has any harmless fun to offer."
no subject
"To each their own, Jon. To each their own," Cayde replies, giving a little shrug. He could actually do for a stretch; while the weight isn't too much of a bother, holding this big old contraption for this long still puts a strain on you. Not much farther though, thankfully. He supposes they'll have to take the long way in than up through one of the windows.
"I guess when you take permanent death out of the picture, people do tend to get more creative with the things they find to entertain themselves. But thankfully not everyone's a Guardian. They can still enjoy things like the good ol' days. And sometimes we can learn a thing or two from 'em."
no subject
He still prefers the less exiting way of entering a building, thank you very much.
"From the looks of it you are about to pic up a comparably safe way spending your time anyway." Jon suggests, nodding down to the parts he is carrying - And hoping to soon be able to set down. "Once all of this is set up, you can start experimenting with different ingredients and go wild." This is Jon's idea of excitement, Cayde. Chemical experiments and their outcomes.
no subject
"I think you and me have very different definitions of going wild, Jon," he says, turning the earlier exchange back on the Archivist, the glow of his optics only suggesting a more mischievous tinge to the smile he casts over his shoulder. He leads the way inside what appears to be a stairwell that had definitely seen better days, moss coating the edges and along the walls, a path through them worn faintly where Cayde mounts the steps on his way up. Thankfully it's not too many flights.
The floor is a mid-level one, the space free of the moisture that overtook most of the level below. Cayde ducks into the doorway and steps aside for Jon, beaming with pride at his find and his accomplishments so far. The place has been cleared out, a few scavenged pieces of furniture sitting off to the side, not yet decided for placement. It's a bit dark, save for a few sconces that glow along the wall. The majority of the light comes from the large windows facing what would have been a sort of inner courtyard so far as the Exo was able to tell, except the light filtered in a blue-green tinge, wavering and alive for the fact that what sat outside was a lake.
no subject
The trip up those stairs? Oh..... well. Definitely not Jon's favorite part of this little tour. Just what sort of needlessly long legs do the Agrii have to leave these sorts of stairs behind? Climbing them to begin with is always taxing enough. But climbing them while carrying half of a still?
Definitely. Not. Fun.
Jon arrives at the destination with notable delay and nearly drops what he has been carrying right upon entering the apartment the Exo has chosen. He manages another four steps before not quite dropping everything, but still setting it down quicker than necessary before tumbling a few steps away from it to take in his surroundings.
"Oh." Is his first assessment and he turns around slowly, still not fully trusting his footing after that climb, eventually spotting the windows - and just what's outside. "...oooh."
"That- That's not bad, actually." Jon admits after almost half a minute of fully gathering himself back up, then casts Cayde a slightly teasing look. "The climb remains dreadful."

The water has its own life sustained within the confines of the Tower walls, a literal window into another world within another world. The water level itself isn't too much higher than where they are now, allowing for more external light to come through. Cayde couldn't have planned it better himself. He steps up beside Jon, arms folded, and he grins back at the comment from the other.
"Maybe you can design a lift out the back window," he jokes in turn. "Although I doubt the building's up to code for an upgrade like that. I can set up a slide for an easier trip down at least." The thought of drunken people sliding out the window makes him snicker.
no subject
His brief line of wondering is interrupted by the suggestion of a lift followed by the notion of a slide, causing the Archivist to cast a look over his shoulder at the Exo, a rare, wry smirk on his face "Only if you set up a pool at the end of that slide, Cayde. And add enough lights to it. Wouldn't want for anyone to get hurt, right?"
Leaving the window, Jon wanders back to the parts they brought all this way here and begins laying them out, checking if everything made the trip alright.
"So where exactly do you want to set it up?"
no subject
Oh, right. The still. The Exo turns around and follows Jon to the parts, turning his head towards another doorway that looks to lead to a side room. "Probably in there. Big enough for storage and a still, I think. There's a table-shelf thingy in there that looks sturdy enough for this thing."
no subject
He gathers up some of the part for the still again and wanders to the indicated room with a nod "And you don't want me to tell you how much work it would be to make such a sign. Let's focus on finishing some more important projects first." Like... Setting up a bar. And making proper alcohol. As much as Jon may not appear the sort, he's very much in favor of succeeding with that effort.
no subject
"What's not important about a sign? It'll be great if we can get one. I'm not sure what to make it look like. A bottle or a mug of beer just seems kinda boring to me..."
At least he comes around to refocus as Jon picks up the still pieces, and Cayde does the same, gathering up the larger half to bring to its new home. "Ah, the things one takes for granted when they gotta figure out how to do it themselves."
no subject
Though it's something to muse around about while Jon starts putting the pieces together "Glassblowing certainly is a skill that isn't entirely without use. Or producing glass pieces in various shapes in general. Maybe an option for you to consider?" Yes, he is half-joking. Cayde may be lacking the actual lungs for such a task.
no subject
His metal features pinch into something of a scowl at the suggestion that he take up glassblowing. "Yeah, no- I think I'm better at blowing stuff up in general." The lungs thing definitely would be a problem. "Maybe you could take it up as a hobby!"
no subject
"And it's not as if I have much time to spare for hobbies anyway. There is a lot here that needs to be taken care of and a lot of us still don't seem to realize as much." Instead going on adventures or spending their times building dangerous looking flying machines that serve no purpose.
no subject
Looking around the little room, he eyes the placement of the larger part of the still before nudging it back a little more on the table it had been set on.
"There's enough to stress about, being stuck on an alien planet aside. Having a hobby ain't gonna kill anyone. And sometimes the hobbies can be practical. -you don't know carpentry by any chance, do you?"
no subject
"I can give you a definition on carpentry, but that's about it." Jon replies in a light tone while connecting more of the different parts and setting the smaller piece of the still next to the big piece the Exo has been carrying. He then pauses briefly to pull a small sheet of paper from his pocket and offer it out to Cayde.
"These are the basic instructions and what base ingredients you will need aside from what you might find at the greenhouse. You can look it over while I finish setting this up."
no subject
The Exo takes the instructions with an 'oooh', glancing them over. "Great! That'll be next on my list then. Once this puppy's set up, no sense in waiting until the bar's set up to start brewing, eh?"
He supposes that probably depends on what all he can find to kickstart his booze endeavors, but he has a good feeling about this.
