Whale Comb Home Party! (Open to all players)

WHO: All He Rows!
WHERE: The Amphitheater (Blue 1)
WHAT: The Agrii have thrown our heroes a Whale Comb Home party; you can also choose to use this as a forum for discussing theories and more.
WHEN: April 2
WARNINGS: Please mark any warnings in individual threads

On April 2, as soon as the light starts rising in the morning, you hear music. It’s loud and odd. The notes don’t actually make a lot of sense together; they slide up and down and alternate wildly. It’s the sort of symphony a child at a piano might make except with a cacophony of instruments. It fills the air with cheery, disjointed music as it floats out from the amphitheater, beckoning you there but, this time, not at all compelling.

On your comm you will see a message from Ga Re:

He Rows,

We whale comb you here a gain. Agrii have food at mew sick home. Go with mew sick. Part tea for all. Also learn time. Agrii need learn storm. Us need learn all he rows learn. Us hear all. Talk at mew sick home. We learn. You learn. All learn and stop storms!

Thank all yous.

- Ga Re

If you choose to enter the amphitheater, heroes who arrived in the first wave might recognize the scene:

Hanging against one crumbling wall is a piece of fabric that has ‘WHALE COMB HOME!’ painted on it in drippy, fluorescent pink letters. The Agrii version of a smiley face that you've come to know and love is painted underneath it right on the wall. ‘US THANK THEY!’ is written beside it. Scattered through the wide space are tables upon tables of food.

There are meats, fruits, root vegetables, and even what might be a sweet dessert of some sort as well. Characters with the Agriculture expertise - and those who have attended one of these parties before - will know that everything is edible and nothing will make you sick. But some of it might have … adverse effects:

- People chomping down on the striped meat all seem to get very drowsy a few minutes later.
- The red fruit that looks like a giant cherry is the equivalent of a few shots - the more consumed, the more drunken this party is getting.
- There is a bowl of weeds that have small, daisy-like flowers all along the stalks. This tastes like chicken and gives the eater a sudden burst of energy that will have them running around the room like they’re being chased.
-There are a collection of drinks, some made from the red fruit, some that are clearly water, some that taste like a less-sweet lemonade with no effects, and then there's a blue one that tastes like an especially dark beer. People drinking this will find themselves incapable of lying for a half hour.

Enjoy your party, heroes. But also heed what Ga Re said: This is an ideal time to talk with one another and compare whatever you’ve managed to learn. Think of it like a town hall where whatever you learned on Risa or in the storm can be spread around and analyzed.

"Materia? It grows stronger with more use, until at last you master it and it... Well, it births a new materia of the same type."

So they just keep growing. The memories get stronger for the use.

"Oh, neat. That's interesting." Reassuring too, in a way. "I'm sure my Warlock acquaintances would be all over wanting to study something like that." An odd hobby, sure, but to each their own.

Warlocks? Reeve has never heard a term like that before, but he's intrigued.

"What are Warlocks and why would they be interested? Do they have questions about magic?"
deal_me_in: (Worse case - you die)

[personal profile] deal_me_in 2020-04-17 09:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Cayde nods. "Oh yeah. They're the most mystically minded of us Guardians." He says this with a wiggle of his fingers as though in emphasis of the word 'mystical.'

"A lot of 'em like studying things and unraveling mysteries of the unknown. And they use space magic." He supposes technically all of them use a bit of space magic, given he's not even sure how the Traveler's powers work.

Mystical. As in magic. Interesting. And Reeve is very much interested now.

"Space magic? Is that the same as normal magic? I am intrigued by what the differences might comprise."
deal_me_in: (That moment when you think...)

[personal profile] deal_me_in 2020-04-18 10:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Space magic is the general term applied that the Warlocks probably hate because it's inaccurate but know it's the easiest thing to understand. Also it just sounds more fun, but that's Cayde's opinion.

"That's kind of a complicated question considering I don't know what all 'normal' magic might be. For all I know, normal is void magic and solar-based power."

[personal profile] plate_builder 2020-04-19 10:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Void magic? Solar based...

Reeve's eyes are huge and he takes an eager step forward. He must know about that.

"Solar power. There's a means to capture solar energy for electrical purposes? A clean, limitless power source. Please tell me you know how it works!"

Excitement cannot be denied, by any stretch.
deal_me_in: (So everything is gone)

[personal profile] deal_me_in 2020-04-19 10:14 pm (UTC)(link)
"Uuuuh..."

Well that wasn't quite what Cayde had meant, but neither was it wrong. Either way it saves him having to demonstrate. He'd rather keep his Golden Gun for when it might be needed, bullets being a rare supply around here.

"Well yeah. I can't say I'm exactly sure about how it works, it's like...giant flat panels that absorb sunlight and store up the energy built from it to be used like a power generator." It was pre-Golden Age tech so far as he could recall, and only much improved upon since.

[personal profile] plate_builder 2020-04-20 03:07 pm (UTC)(link)
But... but how. What are the panels made out of? How are they wired? Damn. Now that Reeve knows it exists he MUST try and create it.

"If I could only take such technology back with me."

OF course getting the materials would take a lot of effort, but the world wasn't fully dependent on oil and other fossil fuels yet. So it could be converted easily once the tech was there.
deal_me_in: (That's good right?)

[personal profile] deal_me_in 2020-04-20 06:36 pm (UTC)(link)
"Bright guy like you? I'm sure you could come up with something easy." Cayde isn't sure how far along technology is in wherever this place Reeve comes from, but it sounds to him like there's enough knowledge there to get started. Not that he'd claim to be an expert or anything.

And anyway, it's not like Earth hadn't followed the same meandering lines of seeking out a new energy source that wouldn't clog up their planet somehow.

[personal profile] plate_builder 2020-04-21 03:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Perhaps. But Reeve isn't certain that is accurate. He wishes he was, because he'd quite enjoy the time in developing it. Though... well, he supposes he can try talking to Tony about it. The man could come up with an answer for him, couldn't he?

"Well, thank you for letting me know this is something I should try."
deal_me_in: (This is my serious face)

[personal profile] deal_me_in 2020-04-21 05:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Cayde only knows of Tony's apparent interest in technology- a little too much interest given the way their first and last conversation had gone. He gives Reeve a nod and a wave of a hand.

"Ah, you're the one that really considered it. I was just talking," he grins.

"Yet you inspired a direction of thought that might be able to research and seek assistance with. After all, I still have a world to rebuild when I return home. If there is any chance that I can retain some measure of knowledge this place grants me, a means by which to make my world a better place would be what I would want."

He offers a smile and then holds out his hand toward Cayde, mostly so Mini-C can jump back across to him.
deal_me_in: (I got this!)

[personal profile] deal_me_in 2020-04-22 05:35 am (UTC)(link)
"Well in that case, you're welcome for the inspiration, and here's hoping for a good turn-out whenever you get back home." However that works. But hey, no harm in looking towards the positive, right?

The Exo looks at Mini-C before holding his arm up and out towards Reeve. Go, be free, little guy!

[personal profile] plate_builder 2020-04-22 07:42 pm (UTC)(link)
"Thanks. You've been absolutely intriguing to interact with," Reeve grins, nodding over the man. Was 'man' the right word? He'd ask another time. Once Mini-C is in his hand he puts the creature onto his shoulder.

"I hope we can speak again."
deal_me_in: (Then I shot that guy)

[personal profile] deal_me_in 2020-04-22 07:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Cayde nods back, lifting his hand to give Reeve a two-fingered salute once his little doll buddy has been safely returned.

"Oh, I'm sure we will. Not like I'm going anywhere." Or any of them for that matter, if this whole fixing up the city, saving the world matter is what their stay is hinging on. "Don't be a stranger now."

"I'll try not to be," Reeve grins and offers a brief bow before walking off. Time to find more food. And hopefully not spill too much honesty.
