Whale Comb Home Party! (Open to all players)

WHO: All He Rows!
WHERE: The Amphitheater (Blue 1)
WHAT: The Agrii have thrown our heroes a Whale Comb Home party; you can also choose to use this as a forum for discussing theories and more.
WHEN: April 2
WARNINGS: Please mark any warnings in individual threads

On April 2, as soon as the light starts rising in the morning, you hear music. It’s loud and odd. The notes don’t actually make a lot of sense together; they slide up and down and alternate wildly. It’s the sort of symphony a child at a piano might make except with a cacophony of instruments. It fills the air with cheery, disjointed music as it floats out from the amphitheater, beckoning you there but, this time, not at all compelling.

On your comm you will see a message from Ga Re:

He Rows,

We whale comb you here a gain. Agrii have food at mew sick home. Go with mew sick. Part tea for all. Also learn time. Agrii need learn storm. Us need learn all he rows learn. Us hear all. Talk at mew sick home. We learn. You learn. All learn and stop storms!

Thank all yous.

- Ga Re

If you choose to enter the amphitheater, heroes who arrived in the first wave might recognize the scene:

Hanging against one crumbling wall is a piece of fabric that has ‘WHALE COMB HOME!’ painted on it in drippy, fluorescent pink letters. The Agrii version of a smiley face that you've come to know and love is painted underneath it right on the wall. ‘US THANK THEY!’ is written beside it. Scattered through the wide space are tables upon tables of food.

There are meats, fruits, root vegetables, and even what might be a sweet dessert of some sort as well. Characters with the Agriculture expertise - and those who have attended one of these parties before - will know that everything is edible and nothing will make you sick. But some of it might have … adverse effects:

- People chomping down on the striped meat all seem to get very drowsy a few minutes later.
- The red fruit that looks like a giant cherry is the equivalent of a few shots - the more consumed, the more drunken this party is getting.
- There is a bowl of weeds that have small, daisy-like flowers all along the stalks. This tastes like chicken and gives the eater a sudden burst of energy that will have them running around the room like they’re being chased.
-There are a collection of drinks, some made from the red fruit, some that are clearly water, some that taste like a less-sweet lemonade with no effects, and then there's a blue one that tastes like an especially dark beer. People drinking this will find themselves incapable of lying for a half hour.

Enjoy your party, heroes. But also heed what Ga Re said: This is an ideal time to talk with one another and compare whatever you’ve managed to learn. Think of it like a town hall where whatever you learned on Risa or in the storm can be spread around and analyzed.

[A - Arrival]

He didn't exactly have much to share himself- and didn't like the idea that the Agrii were listening in. Maybe it did make him a little paranoid, that they could. Whether the place had listening devices planted in it despite the fact that the Agrii hadn't been on their planet in a long time. Or perhaps they had- their little vacation to Risa would be the perfect time for them to come in, after all. While everyone was away.

Still, the world ran on information.

At least his world did.

So he had shown up- moving into the place- greeting anyone familiar with a nod, though it didn't take long for him to attempt to slink off into the shadows.

[B - Listening In]

Agents worked best from the shadows. He was meant to be behind the lines, behind the scenes. Of course, he wasn't really Cipher Nine here. Wasn't part of Imperial Intelligence. Still, it was all he knew- even before leaving the Ascendancy. So working from the shadows he did- moving around the room, sticking to the shadows.

Trying to stay unseen and unheard.

Listening to conversations, much like the Agrii themselves were, from somewhere else.

He couldn't help but search too- checking anywhere that looked suspicious to his trained eye, to see if there were in fact any surveillance devices hidden. It reminded him a little of his first proper mission for Imperial Intelligence, sweeping his room on Hutta for bugs. Honestly the environment reminded him a little of Hutta as well- the air was cleaner, of course. But it was messy and just- gross and chaotic and giving him a headache.

Every now and then he'd let out an almost hissing sigh of annoyance- and one of his boxes of toothpicks that he'd gotten in Risa was very nearly empty already, with the way he was chewing them to splinters from the stress of the environment.

Hiding in the corner or not, Vector could hone in on Aden, thanks to seeing his aura and catching the smell of the Chiss. Naturally, Vector made his way over to the agent.

"We greet you, my love."

If anyone was likely to see him lurking at the edges of conversation and the action, it was Vector. That didn't stop Aden from jumping slightly at being spoken to, having not expected it- after all, he'd been staying in more unseen places for a reason, taking care to not really be noticed. As he'd been trained to.

Always an agent, he supposed.

"Vector," He said, turning to him, with the sort of warm smile he wouldn't show anyone else, "Didn't know you were going to attend."

Vector had been on Agra 10 longer than he had- his presence made sense. Vector had things to share, while he didn't. He just wanted information.

"Was I being so obvious to everyone else, too, you think?"

He supposed he would stand out more here than even at home. There were a few Chiss around, of course, besides himself, but still.

"Not likely. We saw your aura from across the room."

Vector stroked Aden's cheek with the back of his fingers, but made no overt gestures of affection.

"I suppose there's no more hiding for me now."

Now that Vector was there and he was out of the shadows. He could probably slink off, try to, but he doubted it'd do him any good. And he didn't want to slip away from Vector, anyway. If anything he wanted to stay by his side, leaning into his touch slightly.

"... Am I being overly cautious, you think? Too much of an agent?"

Aden wouldn't call himself paranoid, exactly. Not entirely too paranoid, at least. Still, he disliked the idea of the Agrii listening in on them all.

"Your caution often turned out to be well-founded," Vector reminds him, settling a hand on Aden's blue arm. "Perhaps an agent is what we need while we are in this universe."

Black eyes are drawn to Aden's mouth. Carefully, he slides the toothpick from Aden's lips and gives him a gentle peck.

"I suppose it did. Still, won't do to get entirely too paranoid."

He bit down on the toothpick in his mouth, clenching it between his teeth and chewing on it- until Vector pulled it from his lips and he blinked, then laughed- a bit sheepishly. He was happy about the gentle peck- though found himself missing his toothpick almost instantly.

Their surroundings being what they were, the toothpicks had been a good way to work some stress out, though he didn't want to burden Vector with his thoughts.

"I guess chewing them is a habit I need to work on changing, hm?"

"We worry that you will accidentally swallow one some day,"

Still, Vector hands the toothpick right back to Aden, knowing why he chews them and the comfort they provide.

"Haven't done so yet. Think you might have jinxed it?"

He was only teasing a little- and it didn't stop him from going back to chewing on it once it was handed back. Vector's presence settled his nerves, but with so many unknowns, and with everything else, he was on edge. Knowing that the Agrii were listening in, too.

Aden didn't like being in the dark about things. It always ended horribly- usually for him rather than for anyone else.

"You were here for it, right? The storm, I mean..."

Aden had only caught the very end of it and while he should have been gathering information, he'd had other things on his mind. So he figured he might as well ask the one person he actually trusted.

Vector wondered how well Aden would be doing were it not for Vector being with him. The Joiner knew full well what his presence did to the agent.

"We were present for that, yes. It was most unpleasant. It made us lose our connection to the hive. We wonder if that is what it would feel like if a Jedi were cut off from the Force."

So the storm had been able to cut Vector off from the hive. There was more to it then than simple destructiveness. It was something to think on, at least. Aden didn't have anything special to him, wasn't connected to anything, nor did he have any powers. To him, the storm was likely only destructive, but to Vector or any individual with something more to them, it was worse.

He had to wonder if the Agrii themselves had special powers too, if that was why they hadn't managed to figure out of the storms themselves.

The mystery kept getting deeper.

For now though, he was much more worried about Vector, and he was sure it showed.

"I'm sure it is. To lose your connection with the hive... I can't imagine what that was like for you... I should've been here."

He reached up to rest a hand against Vector's cheek, looking up into his eyes. Aden knew he couldn't protect him from every bad thing that happened, but... He worried.

"Even if you wouldn't have known me then. I'm sorry I wasn't there."

"There was little you could have done," Vector pointed out. "It wasn't pleasant, that feeling of being cut off so suddenly. We can suppress our connection to the hive with enough willpower, but this was different. We had no choice when it happened in the storm."

Vector had thought to broach the subject of cutting himself off from the hive temporarily when they both felt they were ready to be intimate. Much as Aden accepted that he was a Joiner, and part of something big, he still worried that Aden wouldn't wish to make love with millions of sentient insects by proxy.

"I could have been there for you. Supported you."

It wouldn't have been a lot, but it could have helped a little. He pulled his hand back and sighed softly, "It's something to think about though. That there's more to these storms. Storms on Dromund Kaas were pretty bad, but we weren't exactly stuck there when we went. And lightning storms were just lightning storms."

The storms here, with their ability to cut Vector off from the hive, probably people off from their powers- it made them more dangerous than what he was used to. He was only an ordinary man, there was nothing special about him at all, so to him there was only the one risk. But the future looked dangerous indeed.

He let out a hissing sigh, clenching his toothpick between his teeth, "No use getting worked up about it right now, I suppose."

"We would have appreciated your presence nonetheless," Vector gently rubbed his hands up and down Aden's arms, soothingly.

Aden had never liked it when Vector got hurt, be it at the hands of another or by forces of nature. Sometimes it was scary how protective Aden was towards the Dawn Herald.

"We would not like to see you stressed out, Aden. If something is going on, it would be wise to have a clear head."
stabgremlin: (72)

[personal profile] stabgremlin 2020-04-12 12:14 am (UTC)(link)
"Clear head's going to be difficult, Vector. You know I don't like being jerked around by unseen forces. And the state of this place is honestly..."

He sighed again, and reached up to pinch the bridge of his nose, clenching his eyes shut. Being jerked around, the general state of the place- it was stressing him out, more than what he wanted to say. He didn't want to worry Vector, after all.

Still, he could feel a headache coming on. He been alright when he arrived, aside from his sadness at Vector not knowing him then. He'd been sort of okay on Risa. But here? With the surroundings being what they were? It was getting to be a bit much, and working himself up over the storms and the Agrii wasn't helping.

Opening his eyes again and moving his hands to shove them into his pockets, he shrugged his shoulders, giving a halfhearted smile, "I'll be okay though. You know me- I'm always stressed out anyway."

"Perhaps," Vector wanted nothing more than for Aden and himself to live a more peaceful life, away from the stress, where they may relax. Aden deserved such a life. He'd been doing better, since they'd met.

"Know that we'll always be here for you, should you need us."
