Text. UN: Shinichi Kudou

I'm Kudou Shinichi. I recently arrived here but I'm not asking for help settling in. It's come to my attention that someone among you has made a few attempts on the lives of others and I would like to get more information on the incidents in question. I'm a detective and I often worked with the police back home with particularly difficult cases. I would like to help bring the guilty party to justice. I realize there's no way to prove my credentials and I will understand if you don't trust me but I would like to prevent the attempted murders from becoming full blown murder cases.

[ He's switched the name back to his real name. He didn't want to do it this way but not too many people are going to be willing to discuss murder with a seven year old. If he needs to he can probably delete this post later. ]

you just got here and you already have some plan no one else has thought of?

I'm a detective, not a judge. What the public does after I've exposed their crimes isn't my business.

Exposing someone's crimes is a far cry from worthless. Once people are aware, it will make it much more difficult for the culprit to succeed.

you know what else would make it difficult to succeed? beating them up and throwing them in jail forever

You would need concrete evidence. I'm sure you wouldn't want to throw the wrong person in jail.

Given the network can be readily altered by one with Communications, it is hard to trust one who says they seek information in assisting us with this. However, if you would meet with me in a secure location of my choosing at my time of choosing, we can discuss the materials I have ahold of.

Impossible. I have a condition that makes it difficult for me to appear in person. I can send my little cousin, Conan-kun. In my stead, however.

Alright. That seems agreeable. But I will still select the time and place of the meeting. Is that agreeable?

Alright then. We will meet at the diner at about an hour past sunset. Is this agreeable?

[ Conan gets to the diner early and sits at a booth with his hands clasped over the table. It seems oversized considering he’s only the size of a small seven year old. ]

[Tae of course arrives, though she leaves her protector outside. Yes, she did arrange protection. And Gladio's a large guy, good to keep people out of trouble. Took some time to get him down here, but she was glad for the help.]

Edogawa-kun, nice to see you again.

[She sits across from him and lays an envelope between them, considering him.]

Forgive me, I must ask. Is Kudo Shinichi a dead name for you? Or is this merely a matter of taking on an 'older' persona to be taken more seriously?

[ Conan freezes as he reaches for the envelope, a brief look of extreme alarm crossing his face before he pushes it aside and looks up with his most innocent expression. ]

What are you talking about? Shinichi-niichan is my distant relative. Do I look seventeen to you?

I believe you have yet to take a look at crew rosters. Or the database of 'he rows' which has pictures attached to it. Those, unlike the network, cannot be altered by our hands.

[She has already brought the former up on her own device and pushes it over for him to see. His own face, his name, but no listing for the brother he claims.]

You wouldn't be the first here to look far younger than they are. Or to be young and act older than their years.

[ His eyes move down to the device as he sees his name and picture. A look of panic overcomes his face, sweat beading as he stares. His name can't be here. This can't happen. What if They show up? They can't know he's still alive. He takes a breath. ]

Well... fuck.

[ He voices after a moment. He could try to say it was a mistake but the likelihood of Shinichi and Conan showing up at the same time and only one of their names being placed on the roster is.. well... not very likely to say the least. ]

[ He sucks in a breath and pushes the device back. He's going to need an ally. He doesn't like being forced in to a corner but what else can he do? ]

It's not a dead name. It's my real name. However, I can't use it right now-not like this. There are some very dangerous people that think Kudou Shinichi is dead.

[Yeah, that's what she thought. She stays silent for a bit, letting him absorb it all. She does ultimately pocket her device though.]

Would you prefer me to continue to refer to you as Edogawa-kun then? I have so many questions, but I shouldn't pry, I know. It is my hope that those dangerous people are not here. But you should cultivate connections among those that are. You could have very dangerous people protecting Kudou Shinichi.

Consider it my price for giving you the information. Which, mind you, I'm nervous about. You seem young, but I'm going to trust your decision making here, nothing else I can do.

[ He takes in another breath, trying not to let himself get too panicked. He's still alive right now so he can only assume the black organization isn't here. ]

Yes, Edogawa-kun or just Conan-kun is fine. [ He'll have to figure out how to fix the roster issue but right now, finding the potential murderer is his top priority. ]

If you really want to know, I won't hurt to tell you. But right now, we should focus on exposing the would be murderer.

[Well, he's made his decision and she nods in agreement. That will work for her.]

[She slides the evidence Donnie had assembled to present to her over to Conan.]

These young men are very dangerous, and we're rather certain we know who they are. But the problem is that our proof is not quite... sufficient to soothe the sensibilities of some of our numbers. I've done my best on the medical side, and I feel convinced. I'm taking it on faith, and from experience with York, that you're more than you look to be. I'm hoping when you look at this you can help us find a way to prove it before some other efforts are more reasonable.

[ He listens to the audio files closely. He's only recently arrived so he can't place every location exactly but there's enough context clues to go off of. The first audio file has him pausing. He pauses the feed and looks up at Tae. ]

When I talked to Stu-san before, he said the same thing, someone here had stabbed him the day he got here. However, that didn't sit right with me because there'd have been no motive. He ends up here and immediately gets stabbed? It was established in this audio file it wasn't a robbery. He seems adamant to blame someone. He's trying to lead the conversation. A typical victim wouldn't do that. There might be a level of shock or confusion, but this isn't that. It makes me think, just as the other person seems to suggest, he didn't arrive here and then get stabbed, he got stabbed and then arrived here.

If he's lying about where he got stabbed then he's likely lying about when or why. He showed me the scar, although it was only brief, something seemed off.

Am I correct in assuming you're the doctor that performed the surgery on Stu-san?

"You would be in correct," Tae said with a sigh. "There were others here with the medical datapoint at the time. I would assume Billy is also possible. He did magic as well. It's complicated. But I can confirm that people can and have arrived here on the verge of death before. I have saved them when they have come to my care."

Not bad for someone whose surgical stint was a bit ago if she says so herself.

"I would also note that except for apparently a very personally motivated attack upon Tony Stark in the past, and some vampires that departed before this, violent attacks between our numbers before their arrival were basically null when not manipulated by widespread events. I do understand this is, what is the term... circumstantial? Definitely anecdotal. But it is also accurate to the best of my knowledge. That said, there is a parasitic bug species here that can and do lead to violent outbursts that cause severe injuries. I assumed at first it was related to the rage bugs and someone had handled whoever was infected without telling me."

Well, that isn't what Conan would consider ideal. He sucks in a breath and tries not to focus too much on all things she listed that should be physically impossible It's going to make this whole process so much more difficult.

"You wouldn't happen to know if he had defensive wounds, would you?" He asked bluntly.

"Stu-san, from what I've gathered doesn't seem to be all that smart so I should be relatively easy to convince him to reveal information he shouldn't know."

"Again, I was not involved in that process, so no, I would not," she noted with a bit of annoyance in her voice. Listen to the words she says, kid. She wasn't there.

"And I'm not certain about that. People have tried before. There is, of course, a fruit here. The juice of it is supposed to induce honesty. That was my plan before having someone who might actually be able to give us more from the evidence at hand.

"I only asked incase you'd had a chance to see him after that attack." Conan stated calmly before moving onto listen to more of the audio file. He also makes a mental note to steer clear of that truth inducing fruit. His secrets are potentially dangerous and he'd rather as few people as possible be in danger because of him.

"I'll be honest though, audio files are hardly conclusive evidence. Audio files are can be easily tampered with, not that they have, but that makes them less valuable. Considering so much time has passed, the crime scene isn't likely to yield much." He admits.

"You wouldn't happen to have a way to synthetize luminol, would you?"

Luminol? Hardly.

"I can't. But the replicators could if someone knew the formula for it. Which I do not. Not a needed reagent in my medicines."

"Three-nitrophthalic acid and Hydrazine." He answers calmly. There's also away to make it with drain cleaner, vinyl gloves and alcohol." He's not exactly surprised that no one has thought to make luminol but it would certainly be useful in future cases.

"Realistically, though a decent case could be for harassment and reckless endangerment, it's not really enough to pin attempted murder on someone. Stu-san mentioned that his friend is missing. It could be a trap but if it is, you could easily turn the tables on him."

"Yes, people do get temporarily pulled away from this place," she says, seeming unshocked by this. So she doesn't really need to push that angle. "My concern is preserving life. They seem invested with killing people. I must do what I can to stop them. We all must."

"As is mine." Conan stated easily. "However, I'm not well versed in the laws here like I am back home. I want to help, but there's limited information and I would need to see the crime scene which, I'm sure at this point is contaminated and of no use." He admits.

"There wouldn't happen to be any other witnesses I could speak to, are there?"

"There is no formal legal system here. It's more based on community and common sense," she says with a sigh. "If you want access to crime scenes, you may be best to reach out to Donnie. He's investigated them a lot. As for witnesses, there are the victims. Would you like a list of their names?"

And she's going to resist sending the kid at Donnie as a witness and collector of all of this.
