This was something she'd been foiled in before. Twice actually. And today Tae was going to finally succeed in a wild dream of hers. Okay, maybe not so wild, but definitely rebellious.2. A Shiny New Toy | Hospital
After all, health care was a vital concern for everyone, right?
With less hands to help her at the hospital these days, she needed all the edge she could get, especially if they were going to get certain aliens down to the surface. So really, she was just redistributing the equipment to where it was needed.
Which was totally why she was in her quietest shoes as she went through unplugging systems and hoping no one would stop her from her all important theft. Because dammit, can she be blamed for wanting such an amazing form of diagnostic and treatment equipment?
And here it was at last. Tae was so pleased with the acquisition she'd picked up two days ago that she was singing lightly to herself as she moved around the room she'd chosen for it, happily plugging it in and letting the system boot up. You better believe she was also wiping it down with sterilizing cleaners.
"You're going to make life so good," she coos at the device when she's done with a verse of the song. "A wonderful little thing to make life smoother."
Until they went off planet and she had to leave it behind. How cruel life could be.
"We'll just have to do everything we can before then my sweet."

The electronic-tinged tone isn't a common one to be heard around the medbay, that's for sure, but Cayde's been in and out and all about the ship. He's like a cat sometimes, but even with things having quieted down a bit on the Agrii ship, he's taken to just keeping an eye out, just in case anyone might think to take advantage of it.
His head pokes into the room, bright blue optics seeming to glimmer with a hint of mischief.
Re: 1
Yeah, she's taking advantage of the quiet. Can she be blamed?
"Just powering down the device for a diagnostic," she lies quite readily.
no subject
"Aren't diagnostics supposed to be run when the thing's on?"
no subject
"Yes, when they are on computer systems. But physical parts need observed too, and electricity running through them would be a danger."
Good save!

He doesn't go far, just around the side of the door, waiting. The doc's acting suspicious and he finds it very amusing, and this is his way of getting to the bottom of things, apparently.
no subject
Before she can stop herself Tae darts out of the door after him.
"No it's-"
And then he's there. Waiting. Yep. She sighs.
"You're so clever, aren't you?"
no subject
"Just figured something was funny here. You're usually more collected." He shrugs. "Of course, I could've been clocking it wrong but here you are. So what are we up to, doc?"
no subject
"Theft," she says, quite bluntly.
no subject
"I'm curious though, what were you planning to do once you had everything unplugged?"
no subject
"Get it to the shuttles, then down to the city, and push it to the hospital."
It's a long journey.
no subject
Cayde pushes away from the wall, glancing past her through the door.
"That's a big bed."
no subject
"Rogers and Chrissy-Chan were going ot help me. But... it never really worked out."
And now she needs it. If the Agrii were going to the surface, they needed this so much.
no subject
"Well. We could keep doing things the hard way. Oooor we can skip a few steps and just transmat this baby down to the bar." He starts doing some rough measurements with his arms.
"...although we'd have to turn it on its end otherwise it might not work too well on the receiving end."
no subject
"This needs to go to the hospital. I... What do you mean, transmat?"
no subject
Cayde checks to make sure all the connections have indeed been removed before studying the ends of the bed to see which would be better to stand it on.
"It's how we manage all the fun stuff we find on missions, back home. Also how we get from jumpship to planet and back, especially if things are too tight to land somewhere. And generally safer to leave your ship in space instead of somewhere it can get blown up or stolen."
He stoops by one end of the thing, wedging his fingers under it to give it a test lift.
"Back when we first came up to this ship...or was it when we first went to another planet..? Anyway, we scrounged up parts for a transmat receiver. Wouldn't quite trust putting anything alive through it, but it works fine with other stuff. Used to have it set up in the Welcome Center but I figured it was easier putting it somewhere that wasn't in the middle of everything. Also didn't care to have anyone walk off with it or start taking it apart."
no subject
"I'm going to have to talk to someone about full disclosure of useful tools."
Sure she can't move medication with it, but other stuff, that would be useful.
"Can things only go from one set point to another set point?"
no subject
"Yep, one to one. Made the receiver portable so we can change where things go. Just need a beacon set for what you're wanting to transport."
The Exo steps back once it seems the bed's steady, fishing around in a pouch before he pulls out several cylindrical devices. Holding up a finger, he goes then to set one around each side of the bed.
no subject
"You're an impressive man. I thought it was going to be easy when Rogers was here. But this? This is more than that."
no subject
"All right, that should do it. 'course, we'll have to go planetside ourselves, but then it's just a matter of bringing the receiver to the hospital from there."
He holds out his hand, his Ghost unfurling out of space in a brief shimmer of light. Sundance goes right to work at calibrating the beacons, a red light turning on as she passes each one before she backs off some to scan the bed in its entirety, short bursts of light emitting from her core.
"See how easy things are if you let me in on the fun?" Cayde grins at Tae, and as though on cue, the lights all turn green, and as Sundance floats back over to his side, the entire bed gets engulfed in light and then vanishes.
no subject
And that is more important than she can put into words. The Agrii clearly don't know how to properly take care of themselves.
For now she watches, letting Cayde make a show of himself until, just like that, the bed is gone. Yes, she gasps in shock and delight. That was pretty awesome. Or it will be if the thing is intact. Actually, screw waiting. She's already lunging for the desk and her bag. As an afterthought she grabs Cayde by his wrist as if to pull him along.
"If you believe I'm not racing off to see how this went, you're crazy."
no subject
"Heh! Now we're talking!"
no subject
Frankly, he's lucky he's an Exo. Otherwise she might be flirting with him for this act of criminal behavior. Or facilitating hers.
no subject
Buuut he figures he won't push his luck by princess carrying her to the hangar just to speed things up, so he lets her lead the way.
no subject
"Stupid long hallways made by stupid tall aliens," Tae grumbles as they rush forward.
no subject
"Hah, I remember when we first came aboard this thing. Half the power was out and we didn't have much of a map to go by. Nice to at least know where to go around here now. Need a lift, doc?"
no subject
"Billy? The boy seems gone, sadly."
She only knows of the one. The other she'll learn of soon. But not today. And then... Wait... What?
"A lift? I suppose that might work. I remember Felwinter being quite strong."
no subject
Cayde emits a huff at that. "Funny how much you can miss someone that quiet, sometimes? Anyway, up we go!" he says, taking that as a go-ahead to scoop her up. He's bounding down the hall then, cheery as ever.
no subject
And nevermind, she can't finish the statement because he's scooped her up and is rushing off. More abrupt than Felwinter ever was. Her arms go up and around his neck immediately because wow this was fast.
"Have you considered a courier service?"
no subject
"Pff! Courier?? Never!" He's no delivery boy!
no subject
"Why not? You've got talents for it, clearly."
no subject
"Now, if you mean more like a taxi service, I'm going to need a sparrow for that, and the last attempt for that exploded on us."
no subject
Damn, this was fast. Was he sure he needed something else to get things around?
no subject
He skids to a halt once they reach the hangar.
"Tadaaaa!"
no subject
But if it wasn't on Tony's end that would be... sabotage. Horrid thing to think of here.
"Thank you," she says politely. "Would you mind putting me down?"
no subject
"Oh, right." He sets her down gently.
no subject
"Come on, Speedy. Let's go see if things got through safely. You are going to help see this heist through to the end, aren't you?"
no subject
no subject
"So you better come with me," she says, walking quickly. "The time in transit is going to be so annoying."
fade out soon?
"Eh, I'm sure we can pass the time somehow. How're you at poker?"
indeed
"It kept me in concert tickets in college. So bring it."
no subject
"Oh, this might be fun after all."
no subject
"Hope you brought cards, sweetheart. I'm ready to win something nice."
no subject
close here
"Sure. But that isn't even a good ante."
