A. Doctor My Eyes
Work may be consuming her life. Okay, no, it's not. But it's not like there are clubs or music venues to get to. Plus, of course, an important patient. So there Tae is, sitting in the Medical Bay. She finishes bandaging up a small burn on the side of one young Blue-Faction Agrii's hand and she nods as he goes.B. The Wonder of the Stars
Then her eyes turn back to the not-quite-glass window in to the area she had set up as the ICU. Where she watches her most important patient.
"You all just have to make things difficult," she sighs as she looks at it. "Wake up, Ny Ak. I think your people need you. And that kid too."
At least there's a good way to unwind when she's not hovering over patients. When not eating, sleeping in a room provided for her near the Medical Bay, or hovering, Tae found herself winding up here time and time again. The Green Area. Sure, she can't go deep, the Blues wouldn't let even her do that, but she could get just close enough. She could get here. Could get to where she could sit on a bench and smile up at the stars.
They were the clearest she'd ever seen.
Hearing another person approach she spoke without looking toward them.
"They're beautiful from here. You can't see them in Tokyo of course. Too much light pollution. What a wonder."
A (Backdated late feb, say after Gladio encounter?)
His own eyes drift towards the area that's been separated off, his mouth drawn in a thin line, hands burrowing deeper into the pockets of his hoodie. Sighing quietly, he turns his attention to the doctor, extracting his hands to pull his bag around in front of him, opening the flap to bring out a thermos.
"Coffee break?" he asks, smiling awkwardly.
(sounds good)
"If you were older, I would think you were seducing me. Thank goodness you're not. Come on in."
no subject
Stepping into the medbay, he unscrews the cap of the thermos, looking to see if Tae's got any mug of her own handy.
"Um. How've things been here?" he asks
no subject
She reaches for a mug she keeps on the surface she turned into a desk, and holds it out to him.
"Less busy. But that means I have more time for more thorough discussions with the ship to learn about Agrii biology."
no subject
"Guess it helps that the Agrii are preoccupied with other things." He's also glad that that gives them some respite. His attention drifts back towards where he knows Ny Ak rests.
"Is it very complicated? Like...how different are their biological systems? I know they prefer more humid atmospheres..."
no subject
And she doesn't want to think about it. As for the other thing...
"So far as Wesker and I can determine, it's quite different. I'd say if I had to compare them to a species back on our planet I'd probably go with a salamander. An amphibious species that as it matures moves into a more heavily terrestrial lifestyle but still is capable of handling water, and even appreciating it. Their skin stays moist to retain their internal water levels, like a frog, and it is very necessary to them. The teeth intrigue me, but I don't know what to do with that or the extra appendages. I have not, and will not, test if they can regrow lost or damaged parts of their bodies. But because they are amphibious they have different manners of processing what they need for respiration."
She gestures toward where Ny Ak lays.
"While I can't be certain, I think his terrestrial respiration system was slightly damaged in the attack. That, along with blood loss, has led to a shock to the system. An Nu has helped me keep him hydrated as this is apparently vital to their aquatic respiration system, but I can't tell how. I did find that their legs are insanely powerful, probably to compensate for movement through water given they have nothing fin like about them and they are not light."
no subject
"Maybe it's all through the skin? Have you looked into those stasis pods below? I wonder if they're equipped to treat Agrii, but if they bring in who knows what from anywhere and they get warped into one of those, then...maybe they're built for general use?" He huffs, wishing he'd been able to figure it out, but after almost getting killed by one and scaring Leo, Donnie's been reluctant to try again.
no subject
As for the rest, she shakes her head in quiet denial.
"I don't really feel like heading down there. They place gives creepy vibes."
no subject
"...can't blame you there," Donnie has to admit. "I haven't gone there specifically since..." Well. It's aggravating to know that there's technology that can virtually be used to send people home, just sitting there and he can't have a proper look at it. Cruel, really.
"Mostly I just go below Engineering to watch the Green's backs." He sets his coffee down to dig through his bag, pulling out a ...yes, that's a manila envelope.
"You said to bring you everything I've found out," he says as he holds the envelope out to her. "About the ones trying to kill people."
The contents are as follows: a memory card marked with *audio files of conversations involving Stu and Billy, although mostly the former; another card marked 'video files' which would feature the two around the scene of Green-14 where the fire had broken out, prior to the event, as well as them collecting copious amounts of the red fruit drink from the Peanut Party Diner, also before when the fire had occurred; a sleeve from the jacket Donnie had been wearing during the fire incident, singed and stained with the sticky red stuff (he's baggied this so it won't get everywhere); a police-issue pistol and its magazine.
*Audio files are as follows:

Because she wants to be able to ask him things, but she doesn't want him to feel trapped here. This has to be a stressful situation to be in.

Including Tae. But there's a lot here.
"I also want to compare what you're telling me against the data I have from examining you and speaking once more to miss Buckley."
Who had been jumpy the whole time.
no subject
"It wasn't great but... I'll answer what I can." Maybe he's been through enough traumatizing experiences here that getting threatened is pretty normal by comparison.
He folds his legs in as he settles into the seat that's more built for Agrii height.
no subject
Including audio files. It takes some time, but there is no question that she's aghast when she looks at him a while later.
"He tried to get the Agrii to shoot you?"
no subject
Blinking when Tae breaks her silence, he looks back over at her, puffing out his cheeks. "Yeah. Think he was hoping someone else would follow up after the first one dropped it when it went off and scared them."
no subject
"The Agrii might not have understood the potential damage, but that is most definitely conspiracy to commit murder right there. While looking back I can understand some concern and desire for self defense if he was innocent given how people acted toward him and his fellow, this was... The whole thing sounded quite manipulative. I have no psychology background, but this young man and his friend sound very dangerous."
Yes, she is resolved. She puts the datapad down and sighs. They need a plan. And someone who can help them execute it. Too bad she doesn't know about Wesker's background.
"These two are dangerous, that much is clear. And the timing of their arrival against the start of the attacks is definitely implying something. I don't buy an argument that one of us went violent after no display of it, not without those little parasite things happening, and there's too much rationality on display for that. From the biomentric data from some cameras it looks like the height seems appropriate for the attacker on Miss Buckley as well. And your red drink acquisition data is pretty good for indication too."
At last she turns her seat to look fully at the turtle.
"We're going to need more than just you and your brother to deal with this. You're right, these two seem likely. I don't know how a confession will be gleaned, but we'll figure that out."
Wasn't there some fruit or something around that compelled honesty?
"I need to return to the surface. There's a fruit I need. But we're going to need more strength if these boys are violent and have guns. I don't deal with the combat capable people unless they are injured. Any advice?"
no subject
"That's what Leo and I have been trying to tell people! But no one else seemed bothered to look into it except Shaw, and while I appreciate her willingness to confront Stu like she did that time, I'm not sure I would've gone with the method she did. But she's gone now so...whatever."
No, he's not sore on that point at all. Shaw was another person he'd actually liked, and it seemed like too many of those vanished. He sinks down in his seat a little more. Screw posture.
"I doubt they'll confess anything under any circumstances short of actually feeling at the end of their rope and even then I'm not entirely convinced that they would. I'm tired of dealing with them, and I don't want Leo to get caught up in their crap either. If you want someone to beat up two thugs, we can handle that easy, but otherwise, it never seems like anything ever happens when we try to show all the evidence people keep pushing for."
He can't help but sound progressively bitter about the whole thing. It's been frustrating and no one approved of anything, and even in the wake of people getting hurt, nothing seemed to be done. His brother had been downright frightening when Donnie had mentioned the gun incident, and he'd been relieved he was able to talk Leo down.
"...genuine advice? Don't go by yourself. Keep those devices Wesker gave you on hand." How's he know about those? But then just the mention might be enough to puzzle those details out if Wesker hadn't said where he'd gotten them. The purple tones and the stylized D symbol alone are enough.
"Maybe get Wesker to work with you in general. He'll take care of things." The guy is scary, but Donnie likes him because the man appreciated his work.
no subject
So yes, she's talking about making use of it to secure a confession. Was it entirely legal? No. But they also didn't have the forensic experts here that could prove it enough to other people without that.
"Nor do I intend to do it myself or alone. Wesker's gifts, which I expect are partially yours as well, have served me well in the past. And I have a new taser. Mostly, though, it's not too hard to figure out how to get people to drink. But I will try and talk to Wesker too. He is quite capable."
no subject
Although now that he's aware there's such a plant, he might have to look into it further... Ideally it sounds like it could be useful, especially considering what implications Tae means to make use of it for. Donnie's far from caring about how legal anything is at this point, if ever.
He nods, glad Tae's going to be smart about this, but the doctor's always seemed pretty sensible to him. He can't help but smile a little about the 'gifts', glad they've been useful. "Good."
no subject
"I'm going to see if there's a way to make my sedatives more useful. Something to help protect me or others. But I'm not really a devices person."
She'll ask Tony if she can.
no subject
He tilts his head as he thinks. "Aerosol-form would be a little risky for lack of precision... self-injecting would probably still be the best way to go. I guess something like my tranquilizer gun wouldn't really be very subtle."
no subject
Which is why she wasn't suggesting that route. And hers worked well inhaled or ingested over direct bloodstream application. But she had given him the other one.
"I'll keep planning. Who else, other than your brother, might I be able to talk to about all of this?
no subject
Donnie considers. "That guy that looks like he's stuck on a glam rock phase might be one, he's been trying to look into things too, I think. If you're meaning about looking into this whole murder mess."
no subject
"Sephiroth? Silvery hair and wings?"
But damn, that's a small comfort. He's friendly enough.
"I'll see about talking to him. Does he know all of this?"
no subject
"Well...I did mention to him about the attempted shooting but that's all I've told him personally."
