Warren Exploration - Forward Team
WHO: Keith, Tony, Cayde, Billy H, Eddie
WHERE: Warrens and into the new area
WHAT: EXPLORATION TIME
WHEN: During the event
WARNINGS: WELP... will update as this goes forward.
It was like someone had heard him and Cayde talking several weeks ago. The storm had escalated this time to the point of them needing to hide, so everyone that had still been in Temba was back in those deep warrens beyond the mines.

"I swear to fuck, if we end up getting cornered down here by yet another thing that wants to eat us, I'm definitely some kind of cursed, or fucking delicious."

"Delicious, obviously," he concluded for Eddie. "A curse couldn't be so consistent. Magic, you know." He declared this with confidence, as though this nature of magic was self-evident. "Explains why Billy keeps looking at you like that, too. Very gracious, to pretend not to notice. Probably why everyone was so enthusiastic to get you two apart, it's exhausting."

Rounding a corner, it appeared for a moment as though they'd hit another very long dead end, a set of doors with no handles blocking off the way forward. But there was a small opening set above it, and Eddie's shoulders drooped at the obvious conclusion that only one of them was going to fit.
"...we should've fought for Cayde. He could've sent the little...floaty guy," he bemoaned, shrugging off his jacket so he could drop as much bulk as possible. "Gimme a boost, and I'll see if that's the way through or just some kind of alien air duct."

He was glad to buy himself time by correcting, "Her name is Sundance," sounding an edge more defensive than entirely necessary even in his distraction with his focus on the pitiful path forward. There had to be a better way than sending this skinny kid into the unknown--"Now I know Billy'll kick my ass if you get stuck in there," Tony grumbled his displeasure, glancing back around like he might see the threat looming and wasn't just looking for any other option. Met with only smooth walls, he had to acquiesce by graciously taking Eddie's jacket in a careful drape over his arm before kneeling to offer a step up in the cup of his hands.

He hoisted himself up a little clumsily with Tony's help, swearing at the tight fit. "...If I get stuck, make up a more glamourous death for me, 'kay?" Eddie called, before army crawling forward into the space. "...I think I see some light-" he reported, edging forward. It takes a minute or two before he crawls out coughing onto a sort of balcony, overlooking a large dark put.
"I'm out!" he called back to Tony, dusting himself off and trying to find...something. He did not want to crawl back through that tunnel. Beside the door was a rust crank, and with little else to go off, Eddie gave it a few tentative cranks.
Below, the door started to open for Tony, though it blocked off the route Eddie had come by, and above a glow brightened from the ceiling, allowing Eddie to see a gleaming path with twists and turns over the pit. From the angle Tony would come out however, it looked as though there was nothing but a long fall.
"Tony? Is it working? Can you get in?"

The immediate relief of hearing Eddie call back was enough to make him drop back onto his heels, hand on his heart, but it was short lived. He was quickly rushing back toward the door, not liking how far Eddie sounded, pressing his hands against it like anything might have changed and--it started to open. He hardly let it move before he was shoving impatiently, then trying to force himself through the gap, only to yelp when that was revealed to be a poorly considered plan and forced to catch his balance on the shifting door before he pitched into an empty pit. "Uh--kind of," he eventually thought to answer when he had both feet under him again, and used the doorframe to lean himself forward, searching for the source of Eddie's voice in the void and squinting up at the light.

"I can't come back. So um...ya know, hopefully there's something on the other side that helps with that, or else I'm gonna hafta try and jump I guess?"

"How are you going to do that from back there?" His mind also jumped to some kind of rope he could lower down, but- nope. He'd left his jacket with Tony. Even if he stripped down to nothing, he wasn't sure he'd be able to come up with something that would support a grown man.

Eventually, he had to work himself back out and lean back over the pit with a sigh, eyeing it with the suspicion that it was conjured as a personal torment and he wouldn't let it know that it worked, hanging just by his fingertips at the doorframe and toes over the ledge. "There's no path, Munch, I don't know what to tell you. Can you see what's across?" he suggested.
no subject
"Can you feel it? It's maybe...one and a half...two feet wide?"
no subject
"Okay. Fine. There's--something," he reported, risking tipping his weight fully onto the empty space, though he still kept one foot on solid, perceptible ground. There, he crouched down again, pressing a hand where his foot had passed, then trying to nick a mark into the surface that must have been there with a nail. There was nothing there to react, just a fall into the void. He shivered, then gathered himself defiantly, sweeping up his belt and Eddie's jacket again as he went to drape over his shoulders, and fussily combing his hair back to raise his chin and take on this emptiness with airy arrogance. He brought both feet onto the nothing. With another step, he could see the ledge where Eddie must have been, and twisted to step again backwards as he casually greeted, "Hey."

"I like at least one of you too much to let you die in such an anti-climatic way, I promise. You're gonna go left. My left. Your...right, I guess? That way-" he pointed to his left and paused to try and guestimate the length. "Maybe...7 steps?"
