For the umpteenth time since arriving here, Shaw really, really, really wishes she had her gun. Not just a gun, her gun. The tech-heavy energy-based doodads that the Agrii provide are pretty cool, but more as a novelty than anything else, and they're unreliable as hell when the energy storms hit. When she needs a weapon, she wants old-school dependability and familiarity. Which is why she's currently running around the city, fighting off zombies with a metal pipe.

The same people seem to crop up for her, over and over again: a tall brunette woman, a guy in a suit, another guy in a suit. A man in military tactical gear. A man with the same U.S.M.C. tattoo on his forearm that she has on her own. A Middle Eastern woman who shares her facial features. One after the other, she dispatches them all, knocking them down and bashing their heads in always without hesitation, and always with the same stony look on her face. Totally normal behavior! She's fine.

As she works her way through the city, she'll be on the lookout for anyone who might need help: particularly if they're young, scared, or come off as a non-combatant, but also if they're fellow fighters who look like they could use an extra hand. And if anyone seems to be hesitating to kill zombie versions of their own loved ones... welp. For better or for worse, she'll dive right in and do it herself. It needs to be done, as far as she's concerned - regardless of whether the reaction is relief and gratitude, or horror and anger.

[OOC: I'm down for pretty much anything here: co-fighting, getting cornered/overrun, rescuing/being rescued, the works! When it comes to bites, she'll be incorrectly assuming that these zombies are likely to follow traditional zombie rules, so she'll advocate heavily for restraint/isolation/observation for anyone who's bitten, including herself.]

"When the volcano erupted just when I got here," Knuckles says.

"Great," she huffs, her eyes rolling up to the sky. "Volcanoes. Something else to look forward to."

[thelastechidna]

"It's been quiet since then, but you never can tell with volcanoes," Knuckles says in annoyance. He has some of them on Angel Island back home. "They can be dormant for years and suddenly go off again."

"They miss with the ship shuttles last time?" she wonders. Literal space is always a good place to ride out disasters.

[thelastechidna]

"That was probably during the time they were overhauling the shuttles or whatever," Knuckles says. "It went on for months. Either that or it was just faster to go underground and there wasn't time to get to the hangar." He actually can't remember one way or another. Everything was so chaotic back then and he was more than a little upset to be uprooted and plopped right in the middle of such a disaster.

"And now?"

She raises an eyebrow at him.

"Where do you want to go now?"

"Technology doesn't work during storms," Knuckles says in frustration.

He looks around. "Anywhere to punch out more of them," he says.

"I like your style," she says, shooting him a fingergun. "Wanna stick together for a little while?"

"Sure," Knuckles says. "We can get even more of them that way."

Cool. Pipe in hand, she turns to start walking, trusting that he'll follow.

"You meet anyone who's reacting badly to seeing these things killed? I'm killing them either way, but I'm wondering if I should prepare for freakouts."

"Everybody I've met is doing it," Knuckles says as he follows. "They don't always like it, but they take care of it anyway."

"Good."

But she won't hold out hope that everyone around town will, so--

"If you help out anyone who can't, or who's having a lot of trouble with it, give me their name. I'll keep an eye on them."

"Right. I'll do that," Knuckles says.

He scowls a bit. "Some of them are having too much fun with it." He's seen Stu and his friend going at it like it's some kind of game, which creeps him out in light of the whole mess with Stu.

[cactusy]

"I like fighting," Shaw counters. "I'd be having fun with it too, if it weren't for the whole... faces thing. Guessing whoever's having the time of their life is gonna change their tune quick once they have to kill their family and friends."

[thelastechidna]

"It didn't seem to make any difference to them," Knuckles grunts. "It was Stu and that other guy."

[cactusy]

"Wait, seriously?" Shaw says, stopping dead in her tracks. "Which other guy?"

[thelastechidna]

"His friend. Loomis or something?" Knuckles shrugs, not caring much about the name. "I didn't stick around to keep watching them."

[cactusy]

"Why not?" Shaw asks, crossing her arms. "Macher definitely needs people watching him to make sure he stays in line. Maybe Loomis does, too."

"I kind of got occupied with these things," Knuckles retorts, gesturing to the zombies strewn around.
