Spaceport event catch-all [Open]

WHO: Link and you!
WHERE: Spaceport NG-102
WHAT: Link gets the Security datapoint and does not like it
WHEN: During the port job event
WARNINGS: None so far

i. Cue montage of getting repeatedly kicked out
The first time Link got kicked out for bringing the Sword that Seals the Darkness onto the Spaceport, he thought it was a minor set back. No problem, he'd just cover it up.

Covering it up, alas, did not work. Neither did telling them that it was a sacred object, or trying to pretend it was a really big walking stick, or even shoving it down the back of a really long tunic that he was wearing, and pretending that it was an accessory.

Each time, they found him. Each time, the Spaceport station security team would march him back to the Glitter Food.

At least they did not attempt to touch the Sword. Not after the first time send one of the guards unconscious. But with each attempt, the team escorting Link back got larger and larger - and more and more hard-faced.

Link was not a popular person with the authorities right now.

ii. Nevermind Ganondorf, station security is Link's true nemesis
So...Link had been forced to switch to the Security datapoint, saying goodbye to his beloved Agriculture datapoint.

No longer could he instantly recognise all over the plants. No longer did he have innate knowledge of even better ways to cook. All because the local guards wouldn't let him have his Sword.

But now that Link did have the datapoint, he could freely go about the Spaceport - with Sword, bow, and shield. This change of status was of course one that he responded to very, very maturely.

And if Link just so happened to often end up near the local station security, staring at them with his usual emotionless, blank-faced expression, well, that was just chance. He definitely wasn't purposely antagonising them with the fact that they couldn't kick him off the Spaceport anymore. Nope, not at all.

iii. Ultrahand for hire
When Link wasn't needlessly goading the local law enforcement, he threw himself into doing everything he could to get the money they needed. And while Link's usual money-making trick of picking up anything and everything he came across before selling it on mass wasn't really something he could do here.

But as it turns out, someone who could telekinetically lift up large objects - and then magically stick them to other objects through some sort of supernatural green glue - was very much in demand.

He'd set up in an open space, with a hazily written sign that says "Will make things for money". Despite that extremely vague sign, word had apparently managed to get out, because there was a pretty decent line in front of him. As well as a small crowd, who looked to be here just to watch Link at work.

And the things he was putting together were definitely eclectic. Some were repairs: reattaching a leg to a broken chair, putting a wheel back on a vehicle. Others seemed more like elaborate engineering projects...or like bizarre modern art pieces. It was a bit hard to tell, sometimes.

iv. Pink Aliens are Sus [closed to Keith]
Link had not been sure what to make of the oddly Agrii-like pink aliens. But since he'd only ever had brief glimpses of them off in the distance, he hadn't been something he'd focused on too much.

At least, not until the alien that reminded him of a very small blue rhino. Despite the fact that Link was often heavily armored, he didn't usually intimidate people. But this alien was intimidated...because they thought he might be like the pink aliens.

"Stay away," the alien had said. Well, Link's not very inclined to do that. So he starts actively looking, using his paraglider to get up high for a good look.

He hasn't found any yet. But he does spot Keith, and paraglides over to drop right next to him.

"...Hi," he says.

v. Wildcard!

Pink Aliens Are Sus - Closed - 1/?

The station was familiar... in that "I saw this a looooooong time ago" kind of way. Keith was good at remembering visuals, but this place had also changed. Finding the familiar and old beneath the new was actually a little difficult.

Even over all the ambient noise, though, a weird wooshing sound stood out to him. It wasn't something someone would normally hear indoors. It was a bit like a flag flapping in the wind-

"What the-?!" He had looked up to see what was making it and... well, yeah. That sure was Link, gliding down from an upper catwalk on the main promenade of the station!
tempredmental: (Aw)

2/3

[personal profile] tempredmental 2024-03-03 10:13 pm (UTC)(link)
"Dude! Look out!"

Was he going to land on that passerby? That would be... bad. Most likely...
tempredmental: (RELIEVED SIGH)

3/4 - I lied

[personal profile] tempredmental 2024-03-03 10:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh... he missed. Oh, relief. That was... yeah. A little close for Keith's nerves.
tempredmental: (I Uh Well IDK?)

4/4 - I'm done now.

[personal profile] tempredmental 2024-03-03 10:16 pm (UTC)(link)
"Uh... hi..." Link seemed so calm after that. Keith took a breath.

"Do you normally glide into crowds like that?"
tempredmental: (Quiet Talk)

[personal profile] tempredmental 2024-03-05 04:19 am (UTC)(link)
"Pink aliens?" Keith had seen lots of aliens over his time in space between home, Drift Fleet, and now this place, but... yeah. He had a feeling Link was talking about the fleeting glimpses they'd seen so far through the station. Keith was pretty observant, and he tended to process information best visually. It was hard for him not to notice something. He nodded.

"Yeah. Yeah, I have." He frowned a bit, lowering his head a little as he crossed his arms. "It seems they've been around the station before, too." He was reluctant to admit that people had been recognizing him from Drift Fleet, but... "I was able to get someone to talk a bit about it, actually." After all, with the Agrii had sent them over to the station, Keith had been under the impression that meant they couldn't come for some reason, right? So, what was one, or someone who looked like one, doing on the station? Were they stalking? Were they watching to make sure none of them ran off or tried to leave?

It was a little concerning.
tempredmental: (Planning Talks)

[personal profile] tempredmental 2024-03-06 06:37 am (UTC)(link)
"Intimidating..." Keith nodded. "I kind of got that impression, that they're dangerous." He tapped his fingers on his opposite arm for a moment until he realized Link was waiting for his side of it.

Right.

"So, apparently, they're called 'Drovveok'," he continued. "They rarely travel in groups of more than a few together at a time. They have a reputation for being trouble, and this station apparently goes on high alert if a lot of them are around. So, if there is one here, that person's likely alone, or maybe with one other of their kind at most."
tempredmental: (Discussing the Road Home)

[personal profile] tempredmental 2024-03-13 03:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Honestly, Keith would have thought the same thing. If people liked to avoid this particular race of aliens, and they had a reputation for trouble, then it was worth investigating further.

He nodded.

"Alright... let's go see what we can find."
tempredmental: (Intense Watching)

[personal profile] tempredmental 2024-03-31 04:01 am (UTC)(link)
After talking with the dragon, Keith considered what they had learned.

"I think we should split up and see if anyone else has been able to find information," he said. "Try to gather together as much as we can. I'm pretty sure we're not the only ones looking into this."
ziedrich_bearer: Gladio from FFXV (Default)

I

[personal profile] ziedrich_bearer 2024-03-10 03:51 am (UTC)(link)
Link was also not a popular person with another individual right now. Because Gladio was trying to work on some things back on the ship and here he was, once again, being summoned right back to the docking area to collect his wayward 'subordinate'.

Again.

The fifth time.

It's why he's standing there in uniform, arms crossed over his broad chest, trying his best to look very angry and very much like punishment was going to actually take this time. Which of course wasn't true, because it hadn't been true any of the previous times either. But time is taken for a public dressing down in front of security before the massive force exits.

Only when they are alone does Gladio sigh, pinching at the bridge of his nose.

"Link, I respect the blade, you know that. You know I'm not mad. But can we please come up with a better solution than you directly baiting station security over and over?"
ziedrich_bearer: Gladio from FFXV (Default)

[personal profile] ziedrich_bearer 2024-03-10 06:16 pm (UTC)(link)
"You keep carrying it," Gladio counters with a sigh. "You've heard of metal detectors, right? They're going to find it. Sooner or later, they'll find it. You can't just hide it, Link."

And that makes him sigh, because he gets that the blade is important to his friend. How do they fix this, though?

"You could leave it here..."
ziedrich_bearer: Gladio from FFXV (Default)

[personal profile] ziedrich_bearer 2024-03-19 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
Alright then. They need a better solution. One that Link can actually appreciate. But, honestly, Gladio's not sure how much the guy is going to like the other one.

"Then maybe you need to be seen as a part of the security team. Think about it, would you like it if someone carried a weapon into your palace and near your charge? This is them trying to protect their space."
ziedrich_bearer: Gladio from FFXV (Default)

[personal profile] ziedrich_bearer 2024-03-21 04:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, the Agricultural datapoint.

"Will still be here when you return to the ship. Not like letting it go now keeps you from using it in the future," Gladio points out. "It's that, leave the sword behind, or don't go onto the station."

Sorry Link, it's just what it comes down to.
ziedrich_bearer: Gladio from FFXV (Default)

[personal profile] ziedrich_bearer 2024-03-23 12:21 am (UTC)(link)
Ah. The princess. Link's princess. She was gone now, Gladio knew that much. And he nods, because he gets it. Even if it sucks.

"I'm sorry," he says, his voice soft as a hand reaches out to settle on Link's shoulder. "Maybe you can take a notepad with you. Draw the plants or make your own notes."

Would that be enough?
ziedrich_bearer: Gladio from FFXV (Default)

[personal profile] ziedrich_bearer 2024-03-25 04:41 pm (UTC)(link)
"Write down plants you see that you want too. Maybe we can talk another agricultural person into helping you learn about them until you get the datapoint back."

That's the best Gladio can offer. Well, that and staying with Link as he does this. Walking with him is the best he can give.

[personal profile] work_wife 2024-03-10 03:55 am (UTC)(link)
"What are you doing?"

Of course Robin noticed Link being weird as she came back from a long work shift. Though she supposed there was often moments of Link being weird. This one, though, looked like it was cruising for a fight.

Nothing like an armed Hylian staring down the guys letting them even shop here.

[personal profile] work_wife 2024-03-10 07:17 pm (UTC)(link)
"Why?" she asks, arms crossed over her chest as she watches Link watching security.

The guy seems like he likes just about anyone. Why would he dislike these guys?

[personal profile] work_wife 2024-03-19 02:02 am (UTC)(link)
Um, well... That makes sense, doesn't it? Like, it's a dangerous weapon.

"I mean, there are rules against weapons. For safety I think."
work_wife: maya hawke as robin buckley from stranger things (Default)

[personal profile] work_wife 2024-03-21 05:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay, they should talk about the weapon being female. Because mostly, you know, cool. Badass things should be women too. But at the same time...

"Well, maybe since you're security you can help me with something."

At the same time maybe she should keep them from getting kicked off the station.

[personal profile] work_wife 2024-03-23 12:13 am (UTC)(link)
Wonderful. She pats a pouch at her side, not one she normally carries.

"So a certain sunglasses wearing asshole got me fired from my job and is now paying me to run some errands. Deliveries of letters. No clue what for. But the last individual I delivered to suggested maybe I should... use more personal methods to make money. It was gross and creepy. I could use a guy with a weapon to dissuade people from that sort of suggestion. You up for some body guard duty?"

She can probably split the funds with him for this.

They're glasses meant for not looking at the sun. That's the point. But anti-sun glasses would work too.

"Awesome. I don't need more trouble over Wesker's mess," she says with a sigh. "Come on, this way."

Holder of the security data point that she is, Shaw has been seeing a lot of alerts about this kid lately. She's never been nearby, which means she's never been the one to handle them (and anyway, a guy with no priors carrying his own weapons that he's proficient in is a non-issue for her personally), but by god has she seen them. Which means that when she sees this icy little stand-off going down, she can put two and two together and come up with something at least roughly equaling four.

All this is to say that there's another He Row with an emotionless, blank-faced expression entering the mix, though she'll at least deign to speak. Facing the station security officers, she steps right up next to Link - flanking him, and by doing so, making sure it's clear whose side she's on.

"Do we have a problem here?"
cactusy: (I don't talk trash‚ I talk smack)

[personal profile] cactusy 2024-03-14 03:37 am (UTC)(link)
It's been years since Shaw's time in the military, which means it's been years since she's had cause to explicitly pull rank. It's not something she misses, necessarily: power can be useful, but she doesn't care about seeking it for its own sake. That said, she doesn't feel uncomfortable with it - and while she isn't quite sure of the specifics of how the power levels shake out here, she has noticed the level of respect that the pilots and security forces of the He Row ships are afforded.

"Sameen Shaw," she says, her tone clipped and businesslike. "Security officer on the Glitter Food."

Ugh, these dumb names.

"He's with me, and he's on the up and up. Whatever misunderstandings you had with him before, you should consider them over and done with."
cactusy: (these are not naked women‚ they're NUDES)

[personal profile] cactusy 2024-03-21 05:22 pm (UTC)(link)
"You heard the man," she says, her tone a dry deadpan as she turns to face Link - a kid who, as far as she can tell, is the picture of good behavior. "No running around and screaming your head off. Gonna be hard for you, I know."

A beat, and then she drops the sarcasm.

"So what was his problem, anyway?"
cactusy: (I'll shoot you)

[personal profile] cactusy 2024-03-30 01:15 pm (UTC)(link)
"Seriously? That's it?"

Color her thoroughly unimpressed as she glances back at the security desk.

"You weren't stabbing people with it, and now you have all the right credentials, so they're just being, what, petty? You have any more problems with them, call me and I'll put the fear of God in 'em, okay?"
