Don't Eat Yellow Snow
WHO: Donnie and yooou
WHERE: Not-Hoth
WHAT: Baby it's cold outside
WHEN: During Nothmas
WARNINGS: N/A
NOTES: Will match tag format/preferences
I. Observation
While Donnie has his qualms about the sturdiness of the structures they've been provided with as shelter for their winter exile, there doesn't look to be much by way of options. By default he chooses the one with the most purple decorating the outside (shh! No one saw him licking the building), perhaps low-key pleased that there's purple on the inside as well, even if it isn't completely to his aesthetics, but at least the color's not bad. He takes one look at the clothes in the dressers and figures it's probably some previous inhabitant's, thinking no more on that matter.
It's still strange to finally be in the same breathing space as the Agrii. Donnie wanders the weird village in his snow gear to observe their alien abductors. Take some selfies in front of the fabulous tree. Surreptitiously throw a snowball at a hapless Agrii or two and see if he can instigate snowball fights between them. For science.
II. Gift Gremlin
The barn is a curiosity, more so the big questionable robots that seem to be standing guard. Donnie watches from...the roof because that's what ninja do, right? as Agrii drop off gifts. Huh?
Presents are something he hadn't really expected. An Agrii gift exchange? Someone coax this feral boy from the roof so he can get his presents.
III. Second Childhood
a. One day Donnie's communicator is activated, but something's off about the transmission. Since when does Donnie wear glasses? They're quite huge, square-framed, and yes, that is tape over the bridge keeping it in place and string tied around the temples. He peers very closely at the screen as he plays around with it for a bit, having to stop to find his hands now and then because he's all but swimming in a big purple hoodie too many times his size. Eventually he gets tired of this game so he puts the communicator down to go investigate the drawers. Maybe there's him-sized clothes that's put away!
It takes some doing but he finally tugs one open, and perhaps that's when one can really get a sense of just how small the turtle tot is, maybe about two feet high. He starts pulling out sweaters and jackets, more to his size, frowning thoughtfully. Red? Headshake. Blue? No. Orange, that's Mikey's. He makes sure to fold each one up as nicely as he can while he sets them on the floor before looking in the drawer, but he eventually reaches the bottom and finds none for him. Oh.
This is what happens when your dad color codes you.
b. A little lost child in the snow! At least he's bundled up, and by now he doesn't care too much that the jacket he found isn't his color because it's warm and better than nothing. But winter clothes makes it hard to move, the snow, harder still, especially when it comes up past your knees.
He has no idea where he's going and he can't find the cabin he found himself in. It's a bit scary since everything outside is so big and new, not at all familiar like the sewers, not that he's gone very far in them without any of his brothers or his dad. The thought makes him sniffle as he hugs his action figure close. Donnie's not sure where it came from either but he knows Jupiter Jim anywhere! The space hero's poofy plastic afro is fitted in a fishbowl helmet, and he even has karate-chop action! Maybe it's one of his brothers, but right now, it's his emotional support.

Donnie reaches for his tablet if Link's done with it. "Find any good places to take pictures? I think I have enough of the weird houses."
no subject
This would be much easier if Link could actually show a picture of one.
As for good places to take pictures...Link just shrugs. He hadn't really thought about that yet.
no subject
"Eh well. Guess there's only so much of snow and houses one can take pictures of anyway."
no subject
Then he nods, agreeing with Donnie's statement about pictures of snow and houses. "Pictures of monsters are better. Or creatures."
He's still pretty proud of one really good one he got of a hot-footed frog one time.

"Could climb the tree," Link suggests, suddenly. "For pictures." The view from up there would be pretty good, Link was sure.

"...Could make a scaffold?" Link says, after considering the problem. Maybe there was something around that he could use to construct one?

(A lot of Link's life since waking up in the Shrine had been the result of many, many 'why nots'. It was almost his main life philosophy, right after the need to compulsively assist with every vague request for help that reached Link's ears.)
Donnie was right, though - there weren't many materials. At least, not here. But Link could think of a few things he could use at the gingerbread cafeteria...
"Wait here," Link says. And then runs off.

That strange new arm of his? He's now holding it out in front of him, as it appears to be telekinetically lifting a large collection of benches and chairs apparently stolen from the cafeteria. Said benches of chairs also appear to have been stuck to each other, by an odd green glue-like substance, into a shape roughly approximating a scaffold.
Following along behind Link are a small group of very confused looking Agrii, who do not seem to understand why Link has gone and made off with their seating.
no subject
"What the..." he murmurs, staring.
no subject
"Made a scaffold," he says. And indeed, he has. A scaffold made of benches and chairs, glued together into a vaguely scaffold-like shape.
It's not the worst thing Link's ever made. But it's not the best either.
The Agrii continue to look on in confusion and dismay.
no subject
Donnie is still staring even as Link explains, because it's not like he'd actually expected the guy to go through with it. He doesn't look too convinced about the overall sturdiness. Definitely a lot of construction issues. And is that glue?
"Uhhhhhh..." He glances over at the Agrii with a grimace. "I think they want their furniture back.
no subject
And then moves over to stand next to the 'scaffold', right underneath a bench that looked to be jutting out a bit at the top. He looks up, narrowing his eyes briefly, and...then something very strange happens.
He raises his arms up. His right hand - the one that was now a midnight-black colour - began to glow an eerie green. And then Link moved up, surrounded by a helix of green lights, and went into the bottom of the bench.
Until he emerged on the other side, shaking his head as he hops up on top of the scafford.
no subject
Donnie has no idea what he's just witnessed. He rubs at his eyes but nope, not playing tricks on him. That sure is Link disappearing into a bench. And popping out over there? What?
no subject
Smiles! And then takes a selfie.

Then he turns around, and looks down at Donnie. "You want to take any?"
Because really, if he does he should do it now, before Link has to take all of this back.
no subject
...
Well, Link has the thing set up, so... May as well. Donnie shrugs. "Yeah, I mean, it's here and all so why not?" He steps closer to the makeshift scaffolding, eyeing it as he wonders how safe it is to climb.
no subject
Although it does at least look potentially structurally safe. The benches and chairs have been attached to each other in such a way that, as long as that strange green glue is strong enough, should be secure.
It is certainly holding up Link's weight okay. Doesn't even wobble, as he stands at the top, and waits for Donnie to climb up. Maybe even lend a hand, once Donnie is close enough.
no subject
He'll take the hand up though, blinking once he gets to the top. It hadn't looked that high from down on the ground, and while it's not really too tall, it still makes quite the difference for a view. Donnie cracks a smile.
"Heh. Not bad."
no subject
Then, taking out his communicator once more, Link moves to take another selfie - except this time, one with Donnie.
And now Link's giving him the bunny ears.
no subject
"Okay, okay, my turn," the turtle says as he pulls his tablet out to take a few shots of themselves before taking pictures of the scenery from where they are up high.
