Gym Rat
Steve, after all the shit that's been going on, has a renewed interest in keeping himself in shape. He has to be ready to fight at the drop of a hat, it seems. And now being dragged onto this ship without any warning? Yeah. He wants to make sure he's in top form. Unfortunately, Gladio is on the other ship so getting the daily workouts done with him is more of a challenge than it usually is. But they do have a pretty legit gym now. So that is going to work at least.

Especially with a device to help him work on sparring.

Steve's been here for awhile at this point, working on both his new Security knowledge gains and his existing fighting skills. He's coming to the end of the latest sparring routine and getting sloppy with exhaustion. It means a few more punches miss than normal. A few more strikes make it through than he would like. In the end he has to just call it quits and take a few steps back to catch his breath. How long has be been here? An hour? More? He pulls his shirt up to wipe the sweat away from his face and considers.

He could call it a day. But had he really done enough? The pilots said there was a sign saying '<i>Soon</i>' in the cockpit. Was he ready for that?

Steve sighs and looks around the room for whatever else he can manage right now. Maybe running? Yeah. He can do that...

Merman

Steve is pretty thrilled to know, if he is going to be trapped somewhere, it's somewhere with a pool. Sadly, he doesn't have a bathing suit to change into, but that's just fine honestly. It's been a long month or so and he deserves to have some fun. Besides, boxers and swimming suits cover the same area. It's all fine.

Steve is almost giddy as he makes his way to the "beach". It really is hard sometimes to remember this is a ship and not just another planet. At the moment he's just happy to not have green lobsters poking at him as he strips off clothes. He goes wading into the water with a grin and immediately dunks his head under. God, he misses swimming. And this one here is guaranteed free of Upside Down gates, dead girls, or anything else to worry about.

Steve smiles to himself and floats up on his back, happy to relax at long last.

Horndog (Closed to Eddie)

One of the great things about being Security turns out to be control over room assignments. Steve is pretty pleased to find out about this power once he looks up where rooms are and which ones are his and Eddie's. Turns out he can just assign himself to Eddie's room, easy as that! Which, of course, he does.

Did you see that bed? C'mon. Having separate rooms is just going to waste time.

Steve grins as he makes his way to Eddie's (and now his) room and opens the door straight away. When he was dragged onboard the ship by the music, he hadn't had time to pack anything so all he has is himself and the bat he'd taken to carrying around more often than not since the Upside Down incident. He sets it beside the door as he goes in and immediately goes to flop onto the new, bigger, more comfortable bed.

"HEY, BABE! I'm moving in! Hope you weren't suddenly excited about privacy, here!"

"I seem to miss a lot of terrible things. Mila seems to call me away when I need to be safe."

Or maybe she was just lucky. Perhaps that was more likely. AS for magic...

She smiles and opens a pouch at her side. She pulls out a spool of undyed thread. She cuts off a small piece and holds it out to him.

"Allow me to demonstrate?"

Steve stares at the thread for a second before curiosity got the better of him. "Yeah, sure." He takes an end of it and holds it gingerly, like it was about to come alive.

"Is it gonna hurt or something?"

"No," she smiles. "Cup it in your palm. Do not worry, I would not hurt you."

Just display her power, and if he's holding it like that, well, there is the chance of the tiniest rope burn.

Steve does as he is told and cups the thread in his palm. He's not sure what happens so he's still being ginger with it. He even pulls his head back a little, as though it might explode and get ash on his face.

"Okaaaay..."

Of course it isn't going to explode. Lark smiles and reaches her own hand out in a cupped palm. Once that is done she uses her left hand to pluck at the air, as if gathering something. The short thread in Steve's hand stands up then. It might tickle a little with how lightly it stands on his palm actually. A further small tug and the thread leaps into her own palm. A twisting gesture with a finger and it curls itself into a nice loop and seals its ends together. A flawless circle of thread.

"There is far more I could do, but this is a simple little thing."

Steve watched in a bit of amazement as the thread stood up on its own and then flew away from him and to Lark. It then made itself into a little ring all on it's own which was also pretty freaking cool. He grins, applauding a little (because what else do you do when someone does something magic and awesome?).

"What else can you do? Like just in general?"

Lark smiles and takes the spool back out. She lays the thread against the end of the thread there, and they seem to twist back together into one piece.

"My magic manifests through thread and cloth, fibers and the tools to work it. So I can do a good many things. I don't think I could truly create a list."

Steve thinks about it for a second or so. "Could you make like...shirts that do things? Like a devil face winking or something like that? Or is that stupid to waste powers on? Do you do real things like...uh..."

What was something serious with thread?

"Para...chutes?"

"I can make them resistant to fire, or whisper quiet, or refuse a wrinkle," she says. There's also many other things, but animating it?

"I do not think that what you are describing would be the best thing to attempt, though. Now what is this para chute of which you speak?"

"It's like that...you know. The cloth that spreads out when you're falling from up high? It stops you from falling and dying. Or it should."

The idea of a wrinkle-free fabric is pretty cool but Steve is far away from the need for a suit or anything like it. But... "So. Can you make them like...very warm? Or very strong? The clothes, I mean?"

"How interesting," she says, her expression thoughtful. How would she go about making such a thing? She can understand how it might work. Kites work after all.

"If I have spare fabric, I might have to experiment with this idea. Perhaps I shall talk to Link. I have seen him gliding around on a giant kite before."

As for warmth, she smiles and removes a light looking scarf around her neck.

"By all means, try and rip it. And feel the warmth of it."

Steve takes the scarf and frowns a little. He doesn't want to damage it, but also she seems pretty confident. So he tries to rip it and obviously fails. And, yeah, it's warm. Really warm. That could be nice to have...

"Can you make more of these? Like do you need special...thread or something?"

"Yes. It is a matter of the right spell worked into the fabric."

Sometimes reinforced with magical oils, but it is not hard for her.

"Can I like...uh. Pay you to make one of these? Just maybe in black? It's getting colder and um..."

He has no money and no real idea of how bartering works when you have no real talents of your own. "I can pay it off with some errands, maybe? Or...uh. An IOU for a bodyguard one day? I don't have a lot of cool stuff that I can do, sorry."

"You can ask," she says with a smile. It will take no more than that. "I try my best to help people. But if you want errands, Little Bear needs watching from time to time, and I always take help in that manner."

"Oh! Fuck, yeah! I mean, sorry. Yes! That is a great trade. I absolutely will do that. Just bring him to my room whenever you want." Well.... "Just. Uh. Knock before coming in? I live with my boyfriend so he could be changing or whatever..."

Oh Lark has a slightly knowing smile at that.

"I'm sure that's a good point. I assure you, I shall be polite."

Steve flushes a little and grins. "Yeah, cool. And uh. If the scarf could be like, black? Maybe black and red? It's for my boyfriend and he has a pretty distinct style."

Black and red was it? A pattern? That would take more work, especially for something warm. That would be knit only probably.

"Are you sure you don't want to learn how to knit?"

"There's a lot of counting and stuff in that, right? I'm not so good with that."

He frowns but shrugs. It's not new info, after all. And Lark doesn't seem like she'll tease.

"I'm really only good at like. Physical stuff. Otherwise I'm pretty useless."

Not good at counting? How interesting.

"Would you like to try it anyway? I could make the actual piece, but you could see if your hands are clever in a way you were not aware of."

Usually people would take him at his word and write him off once he admitted this. Lark not doing so was sort of refreshing.

"Yeah...Yeah, I could at least try. Maybe I'll surprise myself, I guess. Or at least get something passable done?"

"You might," she agrees with a smile. "And there is an advantage to me teaching you. If it becomes too tangled, you need not worry about losing the material. It will not be wasted."

She could just coax it free again and start once more.

Steve smiles, even more encouraged. "Yeah, that would work! At least I wouldn't be wasting the yarn or whatever we use. Thread?" The idea of learning something and maybe not sucking at it was a pretty rosy one. He could hope at least.

"Yarn. If you're knitting you're likely working with Yarn, as it is thicker and easier to track."

But she's going to help him.

"I'll start one for him, and I'll get you some supplies."
