I. A New Workshop
He feels like he's been walking around this ship for hours, but really, the stroll from the Hangar and through the Main Area has clearly not been that long. At least it was easy enough to do with his ankle finally fully healed. Which meant that it should be no surprise at all that he had found his way into a workshop and was already bustling about it, considering the walls, testing surfaces, and considering a seat in it.II. Belly of the Beast
"I wish we could salvage the tools and work furniture from the Restoration to set this up properly, but I suppose that now that we're here our duties have changed entirely."
Mini, sitting on the edge of a table, kicking his booted feet in the air, shrugs.
"Is it really all that bad that ya're gonna have ta relax a wee bit now that ya ain't got nae more buildings to build."
Relax? They both chuckle after that comment. Being one of an engineering team for a ship probably took some time and effort.
"You know, if Cid were here right now, he's be so jealous.
"Hold the light steady."III. A Cockpit View
"If ya want ta criticize, maybe ya cud do it yaself," Mini said, pouring his accent on even thicker just to show his displeasure. But he did try and stabilize the light he was holding for Reeve while perched on Reeve's shoulder. The man, meanwhile, was looking through an open panel near the water filtration system.
"I swear when I awoke you, I didn't sign up for nearly so much sass," the man returned as he finished his sketch of the inside of the system and his diagrams of the circuitry. This was something they might need later.
"Perhaps ya need more sass," Mini laughs.
"Pest," he says fondly before moving to put the panel back on.
"Nosy," the cat snipes back.
"I swear someone needs to teach you better manners."
"And is nae gonna be you."
The view might be lovely from here, if there was something to see beyond the hangar. As it was Reeve didn't entirely know what had brought him to the bridge other than a need to know the territory. There was value to it he supposed, but now he just stared at the sign.
Soon.
What weighty words.
"If only I knew what it meant," he grumbles. "Other than being trapped. Other than leaving without going home. Curse it."
Going to space had never been his aspiration, but surely the only reason to have a ship that feels so much like the planet is because they aren't meant to stay.

Cockpit
Speaking of...
Richie walks onto the bridge and sees someone familiar frowning at the sign.
Soon.
Yeah. Ominous.
Richie walks up behind Reeve, hands in his pockets. "You think maybe it could mean something fun? Like 'Hey, soon we're taking you to a fun party planet'?"
no subject
"Yes, because I so wish to go somewhere like Eorzea and Coruscant again," he mumbles. "Forgive me. I'm in a foul mood."
no subject
"What's up, sweetheart? Are you stressed out about that ominous message, there?" Which...fair. "If it's a horrible planet or something, you can just stay in your room, right? The beds are amazing."
no subject
"I'm not the useful one in space," he admits, his voice soft. "And what if they don't let us come back? This ship is so different. So like their own. Richie, this ship feels like we failed. Like we failed and they can't send us home."
Though yes, the beds are amazing. They remind him of home.
no subject
"Okay. For one, you don't have to always be useful. You're awesome even when you're just being you. And for two, they're gonna let us come back. This ship... I'm not sure why they made us these, but I don't think it's permanent. Awhile, maybe. But not forever. Why would they do all this to bring us here if they were just going to give up on the planet? And they're still bringing new people in!"
no subject
"I suppose I haven't done much but be useful in decades," he admits with a whisper. All he needs to do is to figure out how to help here. He doesn't feel valuable if he's not doing much.
"I do not know, Richie. But perhaps they have a new mission. Seek a new home, since we have failed them so hard."
no subject
"Did we?"
He releases Reeve so he can move next to him and lean on the console, looking his friend in the eyes.
"Did we really fail them? 'Cause I mean... look at this shit, dude! Look at what they built for us! When we were first brought here, they didn't know how to even help us survive. They did their best with the sweaters and the trips to other planets, but like. C'mon. Look at this ship!
"We have nice beds, a greenhouse they built themselves, a functioning ship, and a whole gym for those weirdos that actually take care of themselves. And that's just the start!"
He smiles at Reeve and flaps his arms around to gesture at everything.
"We did this. We helped them to learn enough that they made us this. So, yeah, maybe the planet itself isn't completely fixed and all, but I don't think we failed them. I don't think they believe that, either..."
no subject
"So I'm hearing that you're chief morale officer," Reeve says with a chuckle. What a way to look at things. It almost gives him hope. Not much, but perhaps just some flicker of it.
"Of course you'd figure the beds into it."
no subject
"I'm just excited for all the extra room, man. Get to be a starfish. The Agrii must know and love me to allow me such a pleasure. Clearly the best proof that we're killing it as Heroes."
no subject
"Starfish, huh?"
Reeve wants to laugh.
"Does that mean I shouldn't visit?"

Though it does suck to be trapped. Space was never his dream.

Richie pecks Reeve's cheek and offers a hopeful grin. "Your foul mood fly away? Get it? Foul...Fowl..."

II. Belly of the Beast
"Someone's busy all ready. What are you two working on?" How she was ever going to turn things around to complete her dare she had no idea.
no subject
"Good day, ma'am," Mini says, jumping down from Reeve's shoulder. He lands with a heavy, almost clunking sound, before sweeping a bow before her. Has to work to keep his crown on, but hey, the little one is vaguely fashionable.
"Circuitry diagrams," Reeve answered once the panel was secure and he could turn to face her. He offers a warm smile and mimics the feline's bow, but with far more poise to it. Like someone who was used to such degrees of formality. "I fear we have not met before this, as I am certain I would remember. Reeve Tuesti, at your service."
no subject
"Good day to you," she replies easily, a flirtatious smile lifting from Mini up to Reeve and settling there. She shakes her head softly as she straightens. "We haven't had the pleasure," she agrees, "Janet Van Dyne. I hope I'm not interrupting?"
no subject
"While I would not call your presence an interruption as this is mostly a task meant to keep my mind occupied. Therefore it is of no consequence to set it aside for conversation."
Mini shoots a brief look up at Reeve. And, true to form, looks back to Jan but with his tail lashing in annoyance. There was something here annoying him and it was most definitely Reeve's behavior.
no subject
Mini's tail draws her attention and her head tilts, frowning slightly. "Did I say something wrong?" she asks him directly.
no subject
"It seems you have taken me in at a glance," he admits with an acknowledging tilt of his head. "And please, do not mind him. He's..."
Mini's smile bears little teeth, as if in challenge.
"A difficult child at some times when it comes to protecting what he sees as my honor."
"Well ya can be a wee bit easily distracted," Mini snarks at Reeve.
no subject
She looks amused at Mini snark. "Have I tarnished your honor all ready? That's fast, even for me. Forgive me."
no subject
"Please feel free to ignore him," Reeve says. "He is not always the most respectful, and you truly are not doing anything to my honor."
Mini's tail still lashed and he looked up at Jan.
"Is there anythin' Reeve can be doin' fa ya, Miss?"
no subject
no subject
"Well, if there is a way I can help you, I'll be happy for it," Reeve says with a nod.
Or he's going to be very upset very shortly.
no subject
"A specific item." Her gaze dropped down towards Reeve's crotch, and she bit at her lip. "Very honorable reasons," she reminded hopefully.
no subject
"Why in the world could Tony want my underwear."
Because literally he cannot fathom someone else.
