"I think...I want the answers to come from Billy, anyway." She knows about the promise, Max just doesn't get why Billy made it. What led him there. Maybe one day.

She laughs.

"As much as Billy hates dealing with his emotions, yeah, they really do."

"Alright then," Robin says. Because that is fair.

Still, she isn't shocked to learn that Billy doesn't big on dealing with emotions. It makes sense.

"Boys are just so stupid sometimes. I mean, I am not expecting Steve to be best friends with him and vice versa. Just, you know, not throwing fists when emotions are high would be lovely."

[madginger]

"That's going to take a miracle," Max mutters. "But I don't want them throwing punches at each other, either."

She sighs out. "This is going to be hard."

[work_wife]

"I don't think Steve's likely to do it again. There's... There's complications between them. Like, I tried to make Steve understand why Billy might be jealous about a guy like him and so easily provoked."

And that just makes sense.

"I'm okay with this being hard. We'll figure it out."

[madginger]

Max raises an eyebrow. Jealous?

"Complications?" How complicated can rubbing each other wrong really get? Unless.... Much more of this, and Max might just figure it out on her own.

"We will. Just be ready to scream into a pillow, after."

[work_wife]

Oh man there are metaphors there that Robin will not touch.

"I'm happy to scream into plenty of pillows."

"You do know not answering my question tells me things, right?" She's not entirely sure just what it says, other than it's something Robin isn't comfortable telling her. Either because it's too adult, very personal to Billy, or Steve, or personal to both Billy and Steve.

"If you're that eager to, we can go get this started now?"

"Maybe I'm just trying a teacher tactic and not answering questions that are silly."

But she's got a point. Robin sighs.

"Okay. We're going to do it then. We might as well start sooner rather than later."

Max levels her eyes at Robin and peers at her, like she's trying to figure something out, or put pieces together.

"It's not a silly question, though. Unless it's something you can't answer. Or you're not supposed to." Max decides not to push, though. It's about Billy, and that's not a good place to put anyone in.

"And okay. Let's go, then." She's hoping saying that will keep Robin from touching further on the other topic. Max will figure it out, with time.

Don't put pieces together. There's no Upside-Down here right now. There's no need to enjoy puzzles. Please stop.

"Or maybe it's not my business to tell you how your brother and my best friend are making their own lives stupider. And yeah, let's get walking. Sorry you're going to have to do it yet again today."

Upside-Down or none, it's what Max does.

She stares at Robin intently for a second, opens her mouth, seems to want to tell Robin, 'You might have just said too much,' then closes it.

"Right. Let's go." Because, once Robin puts it that way, she would also rather hear that from Billy herself. Or at least put it together in front of him.
