[Kavinsky's white framed sunglasses covered his eyes, for no other reason right now than he felt like wearing them. They'd been the only thing to arrive with him, clothes aside, and though he would've preferred not to be here at all, having his sunglasses was better than nothing.]

S'up. So, I'm getting the impression there's not a big party scene here. Fair enough. Also fucking boring.

What do people actually do for fun? I think I'll lose my mind if all I've got to occupy me's fixing up a place to live.

[Fixing up his living area was good for a while, but it wouldn't last. Eventually, he'd run out of things to fix or clean or make. Probably not today, or tomorrow, or the day after that, but it would happen.]

Also, gotta say I'm a little disappointed. I get abducted by aliens [More or less.] and there's not even any UFOs?

"Yeah? I don't think Eggman would kick out easy," Knuckles says.

"Eggman? His name is Eggman?" Excuse Kavinsky while he laughed hysterically for a moment. "Where the hell does a name like that even come from?"

Knuckles smirks more. "Oh, it gets better. That's not his real name; he calls himself that because he's egg-shaped and proud of it." And maybe also because he's an egghead.

"Oh my God. I was going to say I had so many questions but that's better than anything I could have ever imagined. If I was shaped like an egg I would not be proud of it." A beat. "But hey, whatever helps someone get out of bed every morning, you know?"

"I'm sure most people wouldn't be proud of it," Knuckles smirks. "His real name is Robotnik." Which also weirdly fits too well, since he likes building robots.

Kavinsky scrunched his nose for a moment. "Sounds like some kind of weird dance from the 70s. But it's still infinitely better than Eggman."

Knuckles isn't familiar with the 70s, so he can't comment there. But he smirks. "It sure is. I've never known him to go by it."

"I feel like that says a lot about him as a person. I mean, I go by my last name 'cause my first name sucks, but I like to think Kavinsky is leagues better than anything relating to eggs."

Now Knuckles is curious. "Yeah? What's so terrible about your first name?"

"Well, it's... it feels incredibly old-fashioned and boring." He made a face. "And my parents always call me Joey, so that's out of the question, too."

Knuckles shrugs. "Human names are pretty different from animal names in my world. They all seem unusual to me. Not usually bad, though. I like both of yours fine."

"Thanks." He might not like his first name himself, but it was nice to hear that someone else didn't think it was bad. "Your name's unusual to me too, but like- in a cool way."

"Thanks. Yeah, animals are usually named after a special attribute they have. Some do have human-like names instead, though." Such as Tails' name really being Miles Prower.

"Yeah, that makes sense. Where I'm from- okay like, we don't have animals like you, like. There's some parrots that can talk and stuff? But otherwise they're all...normal, for lack of a better word. And they're almost always named human names. Like people will have a dog named Kevin and stuff."

"Yeah, that sounds like the Earth I visited for a while," Knuckles says.

"Right! I think it's cool to be named after like, special attributes and stuff. I feel like that's how they name some superheroes." He paused a beat. "Not that I'm like, really into that stuff or anything, but. You know. I guess normal names can work like that too, if you're into name meanings? But a lot of people aren't."

"... Yeah, I guess it is," Knuckles says, and wonders if they would be considered superheroes.

"Really? Human names are like that?" Knuckles is a bit intrigued.

"Yeah. All words mean stuff and the same goes for names. Some names even have multiple meanings in multiple languages. I don't actually know what my name means or anything, but. There's like, whole baby name books with meanings."

"Hmm. That sounds confusing for there to be multiple meanings," Knuckles says. "I suppose it makes sense, though."

"It can definitely be confusing. But there's already words with multiple meanings just in English. People gripe about other languages being hard to learn and then we've got shit like- lead, lead, and led." A pause. "Okay, so, slightly different example, but. Close enough."

Knuckles smirks. "I don't have much of a problem with it, but yeah, it's probably mind-blowing for someone who doesn't know the language and starts trying to figure it out."

"Absolutely. I think I remember something about English being one of the hardest languages to learn? Also people who speak it from birth still manage to fuck up all of the time. One of the reasons I could never be an English teacher." Or...any kind of teacher, really.

"I've heard that too," Knuckles agrees. "I think I've heard it's the hardest of all. I don't know if I agree with that, but I've heard a lot of people messing it up."

"That sounds familiar. Maybe it is the actual hardest one." He shrugged. "You should hang around a high school. You'll hear even more people mess it up."

"Heh. I don't doubt that," Knuckles says.

He ponders briefly on how he's never been to a high school.
