[ If anyone had seen Peter before the volcano debacle, they'll notice he seems much, much better. His coloring is back, it looks like he's gotten something close to decent sleep and had his fill of food. However, for some reason, he still looks frazzled. ]

Like, I know this isn't the time or whatever, but I just realized I've been sixteen for almost a month? I'm pretty sure I slept through my birthday again. Why does this keep happening?

[ A beat and shakes his head. ]

Anyways, anyone need help moving anything heavy or getting something down from a hard to reach place give me a call, I'm more than happy to lend a hand.

Be that as it may, I believe it would be only right for us to ensure that you get some little delights. If memory serves there's a thing I could acquire to serve as something like a sweet bread if you like such things.

Thanks! I don't think I get a do over this time though. It's just my luck really. Some kids get a car for their 16th birthday. What do I get? A massive volcano eruption and like a twenty four hour nap.

I don't think that's considered a nap anymore, but the rest might still be well-deserved.

Well, right before the volcano erupted my senses were going crazy. I couldn't sleep, I couldn't eat cause it was making me nauseous, I had a massive headache which might caused the nausea so like... when I finally got to a place I felt somewhat safe I just... kinda collapsed for a whole day.

I feel great now, though. Just a little bummed but it's whatever. It's not like I'd have been able to celebrate my birthday anyway what with everything actively on fire.

That sounds terrible... Clearly you needed the rest!

Doesn't mean you can't still take some time to celebrate now.

Oh yeah, it was rough for sure. If I could rate zero stars I would.

[ He just offers a shrug. ]

I mean, I wouldn't say no, but now doesn't really seem the time since there's a lot of damage to be worry about.

It can't all be fixed in a day, and even if we didn't have too much to do below when we took cover, it's not the same as taking some time off. And besides, it might help other people in easing back into things too. A sort of...morale boost!

Yeah, that's true. [ She makes a very compelling argument. ]

[She beams.]

I think I still remember how to bake a cake too!

Another year is still another year. No one can say you can't try to enjoy it.

Okay, I'd be lying if I said the idea of cake didn't tempt me.

[The girl laughs. She hasn't yet met anyone who's declined cake, and having finally had it herself, she can see why!]

Chocolate?

Yeah.

[ He shrugs because chocolate birthday cake is practically a staple for any kid. ]

Wonder if the Arcade is still somewhat in one piece? It might be fun to have a party there. Or the Welcome Center.

The Welcome Center might be more accessible, anyway. What else would we need?

Uh.. music and snacks I guess? Maybe some games?

Hmmm. I'm not really sure what to suggest for music or games. I wonder if there's an equivalent to Mantell Mix though...

Mantell Mix?

[She nods.]

It's my favorite snack back on Ord Mantell. My brother and I go and get some after every mission. It's a tradition.

I think the vendor said they were...puffed grain of some kind? Coated so they'd be different flavors.

Do you think the replicator could work? I can get my favorite sour gummiworms from it.

It might? I'm actually not sure how it works with food items. Do you just ask it for... [A confused frown] ...gummiworms?

Mmhm! It's a candy made with gelatin. Want to try some?

Yeah! [Trying new foods- and candy! from other worlds is always something she enjoys.]

Maybe I can try the replicator for some Mantell Mix too.

Awesome. I'll meet you by the replicator then.

Copy that. [She flashes a grin and gives a little salute.]

[ He feels his heart give a little stutter as she flashes him a grin. Oh no. He recognizes this feeling. ]

C-cool. [ He returns her tiny salute with one of his own. ] See you in a bit then.

[It doesn't take Omega long to grab her things and head on out. Things would be a lot quicker if there was a longer line from the outpost to...anywhere towards the center of town, but she'll just have to do it the old-fashioned way.

Hopefully Peter's not waiting too long when she finally gets to the welcome center.]

[ Peter gets to the welcome center before she does, suddenly feeling a little more nervous than he'd been before. Which was ridiculous because it wasn't like she wasn't a friend. ]

[ He pushes the concern away and moves over to wait for Omega to get there. After about two seconds he worries that if he's just standing here he'll just look really awkward or like a creep despite that she'd agreed to meet him here. He opts to lean up against the wall and then decides to rest his foot behind him and jerkily crosses his arms in an effort to appear casual. ]

[ When he sees her approaching he kicks off the wall and moves a little closer to greet her. ]

Hey.

[ He really hopes that sounded casual and did not come off as demanding. ]

[Omega smiles brightly when she sees him, waving as she hurries her steps. It doesn't seem like she's noticed anything off.]

Hope I wasn't too long! I wonder how possible it would be to set up more ziplines. Jon might have objections though.

[She vaguely recalls the Archivist's response to the one a certain Exo had set up between the clocktower and Echo's outpost. It seems like such a long time ago.]

Anyway, shall we?

[ He stops a moment and takes in a breath. Don't make this weird, he tells himself. ]

Hey. [ He breathes and then internally winces. He already said that. ]

Uh, yeah. Right this way.

[ He says and then grabs the door to hold it open for her. ]

[Not that they haven't been here before or anything. Omega arches a brow at him but she smiles all the same, shrugging as she steps inside.]

I don't think I've tried using this since I came back...

I've used it a few times. [ He's not gonna mention the time he accidentally got himself stuck a couple of hours. That's just embarrassing. He moves over to the replicator and steps back to let her use it first. ]

Um, you can go first.

[Nodding, Omega steps over to the machine, folding an arm in front of her as she props the other up to look at it thoughtfully. Now, how did it go..?

After a moment she nods, reaching out to input the request, settling on more common wording than what she knows to be galaxy-specific. 'A bag of flavor-coated puffed grains' should produce something similar, right?

The machine hums as it sets to work, and then in the space the items appear sits a paper bag filled with something that looks suspiciously like caramel corn or rice. It looks promising even if the shape isn't quite the same, but Omega removes it and picks one out to study.]

It's... a lot fluffier and lighter than what I know. [She pops it into her mouth, eyes widening as she chews it a bit.]

This isn't quite Mantell Mix but the idea's there, and it tastes delicious!

[She holds the bag out towards Peter, grinning.]

[ He watches with interest and he's PRETTY sure the replicator gave her either kettle corn or full on caramel corn but hey, if she likes it, that's the important part. ]

Glad it's a least a suitable substitute. [ He offers her a smile and takes a piece for himself before popping it into his mouth. ] Oh man, that is good. It kinda reminds of Caramel Corn? Which is candied popcorn, basically.

[ He moves over to the machine and quickly puts in his request for sour gummy worms and a bag filled with bright colored gelatin worms appears. He takes it and holds the bag out to her. ]

Mm! I'm not complaining.

Caramel corn, hm? I'll try that next time and compare.

[She steps aside to let Peter do his thing, looking on eagerly to see what the Replicator conjures up. Huh! They do look like worms, but the colors are fascinating!

Smiling curiously, Omega pulls one of them out of the bag, giving it a little shake to watch it bounce around. She laughs.]

And it's edible? [She dangles it over her mouth to try taking a bite since she's only operating with one hand, giving a bit of a tug before managing to finally break off a bit to chew on.]

...oh! I've never tasted anything of the sort! It tastes like it's some kind of fruit? But the texture's so strange. ...but I think I like it!
