EVENT: Energy Storm!

Hello, Revivalists! Have you enjoyed your post-Christmas holiday? We hope so, because it's almost time to leave and get back to what you're really here to do.

First, a few notes: This is an information and plotting post for February's event. The event will start Monday, February 3, first thing in the morning. Please feel free to use this post to plot and ask questions; we won't post an official notice that the plot has started, so feel free to kick things off however you like, starting the 3rd.

Additionally, since we've had some characters come and go, please check the updated ship assignments before the plot begins. There has been some minor shuffling, although most (but not all) older characters will head back on the same ship they came on. Remember, only assigned crew members can access a given ship. People can visit other ships, but they can't get past the outer hatch without one of the crew members assigned to that ship with them.

And now, check your weather apps, because next week, it's your first ENERGY STORM!

The music starts early in the morning. You're beckoned back to the ship, which takes off at top speed, faster than you've seen it go before. Pilots will find themselves drawn to their spot at the controls. One of you (if you have the Communications expertise, it’s definitely you) will likewise be drawn to a panel in their ship that is glowing. It has a button on it that needs to be pressed. When it is, every communication device on your ship fills with the face of an Agrii. A real, live Agrii who looks at you with what is probably a smile. Which might be a nervous smile, but who can tell?

They speak.

"I are Ga Re. Me watch you speak and learn best. Us decide me talk when heroes are danger.

Home is danger.

Energy Storm is begin. Not Temba. Far Temba. But storm far not always. Storm move. Storm kill Agrii. Not kill heroes. Agrii need heroes to find storm why. No person has why to storm. Agrii need why to stop and come home.

If hero can, please find why. Please help Agrii come home. All come home then. All hero and all Agrii. Please, help.

Agrii need you."

The message ends then and all compulsions leave your body. The pilots have a map to follow that will bring them to the energy storm far south of Temba or direct them home to drop off anyone that feels they shouldn't go. Without a pilot, the ship can be programmed but get ready for a very bumpy ride into the storm or back home.

But even at home there is work to be done:

Offshoots from the storm, even far away, are casting ghostly images around Temba. You can see old, long-gone memories of Agrii playing or running in terror. And, sometimes, there seem to be other people walking around them as well. Taller people. Shorter people. Some with two arms or four arms or some with none. The ghosts don't do much. They don't see you and can't touch you. Just like most ghosts, the worst they can do is alarm people. However, following some of them as they walk can lead you back into the ocean caves with their supplies, showing hidden areas where more food and medicine and power rods were buried. There are also definitely taller, different ghost people here, too. You think, maybe, some might even have been human.

If you're not following ghosts, then you might want instead to deal with the influx of animals that are seeking shelter. Glownies, small monkey-like creatures, and some that are almost like very wrinkly, blue dogs. They're from far away and are exhausted, looking for someone to take care of them for a few days. Looking for you to help them.

And if all else fails, you probably need to get the hospital ready. Your friends are out there in the storm and who knows how they're going to come back? Medical specialization or not, it's time to figure out what everything does and get ready for triage. We're all in this together.

Now. If you went into the storm?

Well. You can see it from space. A wild, sprawling thing with lightning striking out like glowing vines. It will take everything your pilot has to land on a piece of ground not half-destroyed by the wind or rain or lightning. But once there you're going to be in the thick of it. Watching as the lighting smacks into trees and dissolves them from existence. Feeling the pressure of it on your shoulders, weighing you down. But still, the Agrii are counting on you. So you journey forward.

The first thing some of you may notice is that the storm has cancelled out any superhuman powers you have. No magic. No strength. Nothing more than what the guy next to you might have. The second thing you might notice is that familiar faces are in the spray of rain and the afterburn of the lightning. People from home. People that have died or that you've lost. You don't know how, but you can see flashes of them everywhere. It’s as though the storm itself is trying to distract you and lead you off toward one of the many cliffs or holes that scatter the landscape. Hopefully someone else is watching your back.

There are places of refuge here and there. Caves to regroup and rest in. Places to tend to any wounds you sustained. If you go deep enough, you may even get some of your powers back, but only a little. Just a small, small amount. Still, if you need to, you can wait the storm out there. Maybe you're hurt or maybe you're better at being support. Maybe you are looking for a pilot to fly you back to Temba. Or maybe you go deeper into the storm, determined to find the source.

You can't. The closer you get to the eye of the storm, the worse things get. You see home, you see the Drift Fleet, you see worlds and universes you have never even known about. And the more you press, the more confusing the landscape gets. And worse than that, the worse you begin to feel.

The eye of the storm hurts. It feels wrong and sickening. You want to turn away and leave and forcing yourself through it is painful beyond anything you've known recently. The storm doesn't want you here. It won't let you closer. And even if you try, even if you push through it all, that will only leave you unconscious, waiting for someone else to brave the pain and save you.

Or waiting for this all to end.

Will the data points still be up and running during the event?

Altair might stay behind and switch over to the medical one for the duration of this to better support his fellow heroes.

Re: the familiar faces in the storm, can other people see the ones your character is seeing as they are being led off, or do they only seem to appear to that character?
out_of_order: (heard that before)

Does the storm have any effect on droids?
out_of_order: (sometimes I'm not being chased)

Can Tyrion try to measure the storm from the ship?
