Volcano event log
WHO: Zelda & Open with One part closed to Link
WHERE: The Warrens
WHAT: Zelda wants to help & Zelda and Link have a conversation about what other people know
WHEN: during the volcano event
WARNINGS: issues with self-worth maybe and discussion of a great tragedy. Will update if needed.
{ A Helpful Princess | Open }
Zelda wants to help. It doesn't matter to her at all that she barely knows anyone here but Link, it's just in her nature to want to help. She is, of course still worried about Hyrule and how to rebuild it but right now the people here at the immediate concern and there has to be something she can do to help everyone else.
Her desire to help isn't purely altruistic of course, she sees an opportunity to learn new things and learn how to do things for herself so she won't always have to rely on other people to cater to her every whim. She's never liked having to rely on others but it is still an adjustment.
If she sees someone hard at work on something she'll approach with a pleasant smile and a slightly awkward 'hello, I'm sorry to interrupt, but I wondered if you might teach me what you're doing or if you might need some help."
{ Late Night Conversations | Closed to Link }
Zelda is adapting to her new life as best she can but the idea that some people here will already know about her is strangely anxiety inducing. She's never thought herself as shy but she's not so sure she's comfortable with the idea. It's left her wondering who saw what and what must they think of her now. She's also suddenly worried about what Link thinks of her again and that hadn't been a concern for some time. She's fairly confident he must like her at least a little to want to continue to follow her around with no real obligation to do so.
She forces that insecurity out as she's at least able to recognize that's all that particular worry is. Still, she finds herself sitting up when she should be asleep thinking about every encounter she's had so far. Suddenly, it makes sense that several people had recognized her before she'd met them but it's driving her a little crazy not knowing exactly what they knew or saw.
Would have seen how hard she tried to prepare and fight against the calamity or would they see her as the gossip mongers did- 'the heir to a throne of nothing, nothing but failure.'

Late Night Conversations
And yet, wakes all the same. He can be a light sleeper, being so used to sleeping outside where it was not always entirely safe. And when it comes to Zelda...well, he's always somewhat hyper-aware, when it comes to her.
So he wakes. Twists his head towards Zelda. In the darkness, she's just a shadow - but he can see that she's sitting up.
"Zelda?" he says softly.
no subject
"I'm sorry, did I wake you?" She asks gently. She doesn't really want to bother Link with her own internal struggles but he's undoubtedly the best person to ask about who's seen what.
no subject
"Are you okay?"
no subject
"I was just thinking." She informs him. "About how different things are here as well as the people." She sucks in a breath and turns her attention to a particularly interesting spot on the ground nearby.
"And-I suppose I'm a little concerned about which memories others have seen."
no subject
"...I'm sorry," Link says, looking away from her. Oh look, he's also found a very interesting spot on the ground to look at too.
Because the reason people have seen memories of Zelda is because of him. His dream, his memories. It hadn't been something that had concerned him during Calibrations itself - in the dream, other people seeing his memories hadn't seemed like something to be worried about. It had just felt...natural, and normal, to share them. In the same way that dream logic is sometimes so strange and peculiar, but you don't realise how odd it was until you wake up.
But now Link had woken up. The dream was over - and not just that, but Zelda was here, and having to deal with the consequences.

"It's just.. I've been thinking about things a little excessively, I think." She turns back to look at that same place on the ground. "Our memories are always biased to our perception of things. I know it shouldn't bother me so much but I suppose I'm.. apprehensive isn't the word..." She trails off as she tries to find a better way to describe it. "Nervous." She decides on.
"Nervous about how you would perceive me."
no subject
"Me?" She's worried about what he thinks of her?
He knows that he's not the best at expressing his emotions. His face tends to be blank most of the time, and what expressions he does have tend to be less emotive and more subtle than other peoples. And it doesn't help that he prefers to say less, rather than more. He knows - from his regained memories, and from the diary he found in the ruins of her room - that Zelda had struggled early on with not being able to tell what he was thinking.
But...he had thought that had changed. Had he been wrong about that? Or...was it just the person he used to be that she learned how to read? And not the person that he was now, missing memories and all.
no subject
"What I mean is-I would like to know which memories of yours was it the others saw." She tries again.
no subject
He knew it was the Shrine of Resurrection, because of what the people who saw it said. And...somewhere beneath that, somewhere that seemed to have things...missing. But he only knew what memories people saw there if they asked him about it.
"I think...the Champions. The Calamity." He pauses. "When I died."
no subject
"I think I'm just feeling a bit... self conscious again. I know what you think but I'm just.. worried again that I didn't do enough-or that others will think I'm not doing enough. It sounds silly, I know." She forces herself to laugh a little. It's a little hard to forget being considered the Princess of nothing but failure.
"Really, I suspect I'm just thinking too much." She assures him.
no subject
He falls silent for a moment. Looks down at his hands. Tries to figure out the words, how to give her the reassurance she needs. It's not something he's good at, he knows - but he has to try.
"You saved Hyrule. Saved me." And surely, anyone who'd seen his memories would have been able to tell that she did everything she could?
no subject
"You're the one that saved Hyrule." She reminds him. "We wouldn't have had any hope of defeating the calamity without you." Although, she does know that if not for her sacred power awakening when it had that they'd have lost all hope of saving Hyrule. Saving his life gave them all hope for the future.
"I apologize for burdening you with my own insecurities when there's far more to be concerned about. This is hardly the time or place for it."
no subject
He absolutely could not have done it without her.
Then she's apologising, and he shakes his head. She doesn't need to apologise to him. Not for anything - and especially not for talking to him. "Not a burden."

Radley points to the different ingredients, explaining what he's making and how much of each goes in. "I've got these in already, but still need these others," he adds, indicating which ones he means.

She listens intently and rolls her sleeves up so that she can start helping, careful to follow his close instructions.
