Snow Elves
WHO: Rayla - OPEN
WHERE: Village, everywhere
WHAT: The Event!
WHEN: The Event!
WARNINGS: mild The Dragon Prince spoilers in Rayla's gift
A - The Traditional Christmas Puppy
[The last thing Rayla expected to find was a creature from home, let alone one specifically from Xadia, but she could be found running about the village, attempting to corral a small shadowpaw pup that happened to have her name on the tag that was attached to its collar.
Care to help her catch it?]
=====
B - Snow Elf
[Sure, you can be bland and build your snowman... but can you build a Snowelf? Well, that was Rayla, going around and "fixing" people's snowmen to be snowelves. Quite deliberately, too.
Are you going to tell her no?]
=====
C - Musical on Ice
[Rayla wasn't much of an elf for singing, but here she was, compelled to do so while exploring this ice castle. Granted, she'd managed to hold it back for quite a bit, but, try talking to her, and it'll all come out in song! She was never going to admit to this, though.]

At least he had decent company in the form of a scout droid, the droid hopping about in the snow, beeping and playing, while Altair keeps a watch over it.
It falls over as the pup zips past it, the droid's legs flailing wildly as it beeps and boops what would definitely be expletives had it been an organic being.
Altair hurries to check his droid, putting it upright again, then looks toward the direction the animal had ran toward- then sensed the girl that was chasing it, turning his head in Rayla's direction.] Was that yours?

Didn' mean ta knock yer little... [What is that thing?] Uh... friend...? over there. I'm still workin' on trainin' 'im. I found 'im in tha' cabin I was usin' las' night.
[She laughed a little nervously.]
I forgot how spirited they are.
[Granted, shadowpaws were a little less unruly than moonstriders.]

[Altair brushes some snow off his droid as he speaks, the droid beeping its thanks. He then stands- not that it makes a huge difference, considering he's only 4'8".] This one is RE-1. He's a droid.
[He doesn't need to sense any confusion to hear it in her voice. Still, maybe even droid is a little complicated to understand?]
A machine, I mean. Not a living creature, though he's got quite the personality.
[RE-1 makes a sound that sure sounds like confirmation of that.]
I find that most young creatures are spirited, regardless of their species. You need not worry though- RE-1 was not hurt.
[He smiles as the droid boops and hops.] ... I also received RE-1 recently. One moment he was not there, the next...
[Still, he can't say he minds.]

[She smiled a little. No... she didn't understand 'droid', but she mostly understood 'machine'.]
So... he's a machine-creature? Does he work through magic?
[She wasn't worried about this guy using magic because he most definitely didn't look human, so it couldn't possibly be dark magic, right?]
Yeah, they are. And I had the same thing. I saw 'im running through the village, and, when I caught 'im the first time, I spotted his tag. It had my name on it.

[Altair has never had any pets before, so he's unsure of that himself.]
I am not entirely certain what powers him- I've never built my own droid. I know him though, from home. We used these droids on archaeological digs.
[RE-1 is smaller than most people and can get into places others cannot. Not that Altair was ever slow to follow, usually halfway inside a tomb or temple before the rest of the Reclamation Service had finished their preliminary examination of the first room.
He does hope there will be something to power him with should he run out of energy. He supposes he can ask Hux.]
He is a scout, so he can be one's eyes, going where even I would be too big to fit.
[What she's saying is interesting, though.] You'd think it was all our birthdays, if it's the same for everyone. Or some sort of gift giving holiday, perhaps.

That sounds like quite the handy thing to have. Shadowpaws grow fairly large. We use them back home as mounts to ride long distances.
[Once they were tame, of course. This little pup had a ways to go. But, a moonstrider would have been much harder to calm down and train.]
That's possible. I've seen a few people walking around with new stuff.

I see. We have animals like that too. I have a Kybuck at home, though my choice of ride is... Unusual, to say the least.
[Most people prefer speeders for shorter planetary travel, and the only reason he rides around on an animal is because his crew dislike the idea of him driving something that can't see for itself when he wears his veil. Even if he can see through the Force.] Most people much prefer speeders or shuttles to get around- similar to the ships that brought us here, though meant for travel on a planet's surface, rather than from planet to planet.
[If she's not familiar with droids, chances are, she's not familiar with speeders, either. And he doesn't mind explaining.] I suppose the Agrii must be in a good mood then, to give us things from home, rather than... Anything else.
[They're not always the most accurate, after all.]

So, the place yer from... it's kinda like this place. With all the fancy... technology.
[It took a bit to get her head around that word.]
I guess they are. [She smiled a bit at that.] It's better that they're in a good mood than a bad one, that's for sure.
no subject
[Not that it's so easy to tell any more.]
And yes, I suppose it it. Given what they're capable of, I shudder to think-
[She... Sounds a bit young, he supposes, for him to go into this. So he stops himself, and shakes his head.] Never mind. Best to keep a positive outlook, at any rate, and enjoy their good mood and the current peace and quiet.
no subject
Yeah. You're right. Who knows what's to come.

[He can tell. Even without the Force, it takes a lot for a child to respond in such a way. Even a teenager, even a mature one.]
We should take advantage of the good times while they last. And prepare for the bad times, when they come. You sound as though you're familiar with the concept.

[She took a deep breath.]
I've been on my own for a while. Runaan and Ethari raised me after my parents were chosen for the Dragon Guard. But, some bad things happened, and I had to atone for their misdeed. I trained hard to become part of the team that was going to exact our revenge for what had happened.
But, I didn't exactly carry out my whole mission.
Things changed... things that we had thought had been done weren't. And we found out. I'm hoping I can fix things again and stop the cycle. I just don't know if I can.
no subject
Either way, sounds like she's had it quite difficult.]
I'm sorry to hear that the world has put so much weight on your shoulders. That has to be difficult.
[When he was her age, he was a slave. It was difficult, but no one really expected so much of him. That only changed when he was dragged away to become Sith, but by then, he was already an adult.]
I can't tell your future, I'm afraid. But I can hope that things will work out for you when you return home. Should you need anything while we're all here, I hope you know you can rely on the rest of us, as well.
no subject
Thanks. I don't know how much affect anythin' here has back home, but I'm hopin' for the best. It's all I can do right now.
