Who: Wanda Maximoff & you!
What: Exploration time
When: The first week
Where: Greenhouse, hospital, and the forest outskirts
Warnings: N/A, will edit if needed
I. The Greenhouse
[Close to dinnertime you might come across Wanda standing in the greenhouse staring thoughtfully out over the vegetation.]
We could make a soup, I think. If we had a fire and something to cook it in...it would be better than just eating raw vegetables.
II. The Hospital
[The canisters are already ruptured by the time she gets there. Hospitals have always made her uncomfortable, but it's better to take stock of what they have and what they might need now, before anyone needs it. And it would be good to have some idea of how necessary certain aspects of her powers might be and where she might try to explore and push them.
Except while she's exploring the halls, she starts feeling warm and light-headed, and a little bit claustrophobic. She knows whoever worked here is long gone, but the hallways feel cramped and sinister and finally Wanda decides that she can't take it anymore. She turns to start making her way out (going out a window would be quickest but she feels off) and the world lurches sideways. Wanda stumbles into the wall to brace herself and leans her forehead against it. It's nice and cool. She'd stay here for a while if it didn't feel so threatening...
...but it does, and so Wanda's stumbling down the hallways with a hand braced on the wall to steady herself. Just a little farther...]
III. closed to Vision
[They walk hand in hand, Thistle chirping happily at the chance to explore a more familiar environment. Wanda's hair is braided now, looped through itself to hold, and while she misses the feel of the wind (or her lover's fingers) in it, it's not worth how much trouble it would be to detangle it later.
She leans up to kiss Vision's cheek and squeezes his hand.]
Over there? [There's a small clearing around a large tree, and it looks like a nice place to have a talk. Wanda trots ahead to beat him to it and settles back against it between the roots.] Come here, love.
[He's been keeping her as comfortable as he possibly could, and it's time to return the favor.]
IV. wild card
[You know what to do.]

IV. wild card
[You know what to do.]

"There is so much to be done," he says, tone unhappy and eyes closing so she can work on him. "I feel as though I do not have time to relax."
Which is a bad answer, and he knows it, but it's how he feels.
"Do you want to stay in the shop? Or would you rather be in the hotel with the others?" He doesn't mind either way; the empty shop is better for accumulation of useful items and could be turned into a roomy abode, but the hotel is closer to everyone else.

She's felt guilty that Vision's been acting as her pillow since they arrived, but in hindsight maybe that's one of the only reasons he's been physically resting. Would he just continue to work himself into the ground once she fell asleep if he knew he was leaving her safe in a comfortable bed?
"I like our privacy. But if we get the water working I want to be clean again." She sighs, carefully working her thumbs over a particularly bad knot. "But I will find a bed frame and bring it to the shop just so we can make somewhere nicer to sleep. You deserve better."
no subject
The pile of work that needs to be done can spare him for a few hours. Even a few hours every day.
"Mmm. I talked with Tommy about making some soaps with several of the plants in the greenhouse that have a good scent. You've met Tommy?" There's no way she can't have--he's too much like her brother to miss--but given that she hadn't come to him in a panic she probably hadn't learned the whole truth about the twins, and that's just fine by him.
A bedframe. They can jury-rig a mattress, but that only goes so far without something to contain it. "Find or make. We're beginning to have a few tools that will come in handy, and your powers are more than capable of selectively slicing a few pieces of wood. We could make it nice and large, so we have room to stretch out."
no subject
"I did. He said we're distantly related in his world." And she can't really blame him for feeling weird around her - she's overjoyed to have any family here, but she can't say that someone wouldn't feel resentful that they didn't get their Wanda. She wonders if that's all it is, or if maybe they don't have the best relationship in Tommy's world. "We need soap before people start getting sick. I don't think I can fix that."
There's something meditative about working out the knots in Vision's back, and aside from slicing wood...there might be more that she can do. Sadly the city seems empty of tools or much that's useful but if she found some sturdy enough stone then it shouldn't be too hard to make a basic knife.
"What about the mattress? Is that anything I can help with?"
no subject
Distantly related makes him quirk up a grin. That's...sure not wrong. "I gather his world is adjacent to Kitty's, with mutants and the like. He was surprised to learn I wasn't made in the twentieth century, and that JARVIS was an AI and not Mr Stark's butler. Can you imagine me in a butler's uniform?" There, now he knows that she doesn't know about the twins' parentage and has successfully navigated away from it. That should be fine.
He thinks for a bit, melting a little more into her touch. He really has been stretching himself, hasn't he?
"If you could keep an eye out for any cloth, or anything that would serve as tools? Tools are our limiting resource at the moment, I'm afraid." And having to dedicate less time to making tools would be a huge boost in production for, well, everything.
no subject
"No, but I know you'd look good." She laughs and leans forward to murmur in his ear. "You always look wonderful in suits." She nuzzles the side of Vision's neck and kisses him again before settling back on her heels to return to the massage. Wanda's a good actress when she needs to be, but she's not that good.
"If we find stone...maybe I could try to make simple things, like knives. It seems like someone already scavenged this city."
no subject
"There is a great deal of metal, even, if you feel you could try to shape that. There is an abundance of materials in this place, it's just a matter of getting them into a usable form. Or finding and cataloging what is available, even. Some knives and--even more importantly, gloves--would be most welcome."
He captures her hand when it wanders over and gives it a few kisses before releasing it.
"You're doing very well, love. I am sorry it is so much to ask of you."
no subject
"I wish I could do more. I just never thought...the only times I've even been camping were with you." So of course they'd had everything they needed. And all of Wanda's survival knowledge assumed there was something to scavenge. This empty shell of a city has precious little to offer her, and still there's no sign of their 'hosts.'
She falls silent for a moment, absorbed in the simple motions of soothing the sore places on her husband's back and shoulders. Poor Vision - he really hasn't been taking care of himself. He may not have the same immediate survival concerns as the rest of them, but that doesn't mean he has no needs at all. Wanda will just have to make an effort to be more assertive in reminding him to rest. If she can't get him home, at least she can try to keep him comfortable.
She sighs, presses another kiss to where his shoulder meets his neck. "But I do know how to take care of you. I'm not going to let this get so bad again, Vizh. I promise."
no subject
He sighs softly when she kisses his neck. "Don't pretend it's not my fault for ignoring my own limits, love." He pauses. "But it does help to have your eyes on me. And your hands, and your mouth." Being a little cheeky perhaps, but it's a husband's prerogative, is it not?
He relaxes in silence for a few more minutes. "Have you touched any of the additional data points?"
no subject
But for now, she has him all to herself, and they are not leaving until she's satisfied that he's feeling better. "I can think of other ways my hands and mouth can help you," she murmurs lowly in his ear, "if you want them to, love."
Fortunately some things never change, even if Wanda does feel generally out of sorts. But for now she returns to the massage. "Not yet. I...I don't want any more things in my head. And you know how I feel about doctors and hospitals." The medical data point would be an obvious choice, to augment abilities Wanda already possesses. But even with the space of another year and an entire universe between them, some corner of Wanda's mind ha never recovered from the experiments. Her panic attacks had been even worse in Naviadna when she couldn't recognize the equipment. She knew, rationally, that the doctor meant her no harm, that the tool she was trying to use wasn't the thing it reminded her of. Wanda had still ended up a complete mess, shaking and clinging to Vision, murmuring broken apologies while she tried to remember how to breathe.
She can't imagine actually trying to set up shop in a place full of so many bad associations. She's happy to be known as a potential healer...just not that kind of doctor, thanks.
no subject
He hums pleasantly at her suggestion. "Only if you let me return the favor, my dear." It's only fair, after all.
But at the next part he nods, although his expression is now a frown. "I understand." Of course she'd be most interested in healing, but with the way she feels about medical equipment he could understand her staying away from the hospital as soon as she realized what it was. "I've taken the agriculture data point myself, and I was unable to detect anything malicious in the data itself; even so, I understand that a download must necessarily work somewhat differently to an organic brain."
For him it had been nothing more than a file dump and a few seconds to process it, but Tommy had described it rather differently.
no subject
"Maybe there are more. But I am sure I can find plenty to do without them for a while." There had been enough for her to do on the Twin Roses before she'd taken over the Communications position, anyway. "I will try to make some tools for you and Tommy. And some more knives for Natasha and Clint. Maybe some containers if I can shape the metal well enough."
no subject
Maybe there are hot springs around. That would be nice....
"There's no lack of tasks to be done, certainly. And if it would be easier to work with, wood can hold water or other things as well as metal can." Or stone, or whatever other substance the buildings around this place are made of.
He leans into her touch and sighs happily. "Have I told you lately that I love you?"
no subject
"You inspire me, Vizh. If you have hope that one day this can be better then so do I." Which is something, considering that optimism never comes easily to her - the world is always a much nicer place seen through Vision's eyes. She looks at Agra 10 and sees so much future want, everything they need and don't have and can't easily recreate, and can't help but measure it against their old home and find it wanting. She doesn't see the beauty unless she looks again through his eyes or tries to imagine what he might say.
Her kisses find the narrow strip of skin beside the vibranium protecting his spine and begin to slowly follow it upwards. "I love you." Kiss. "I love you. You are my light."
ftb
And she doesn't forget his needs, even when she has so many of her own.
"I love you, Wanda. All of this--everything I want to build here--is for you."
And he'll proceed to demonstrate it, even as she takes care of him.
