WHAT: Business as usual? Wondering where the hell everybody else went? Being all creeped out and stuff? I dunno man, whatever happens when the place you're stuck is suddenly a ghost town.

[Temba isn't exactly the most exciting place Sonic has ever been, especially last month when it was all rainy and shitty and going out was a bad idea. This month was shaping up to be less soggy though, so Sonic was pretty pumped to get out there and start doing some real exploring. Maybe race that one guy, maybe see what the one turtle is up to? BUT, it doesn't take him long to realize that Temba is a lot quieter than usual.

Like, a lot quieter. Like 'literally where did everybody go' levels of quiet. Like 'aw dang it did I sleep through the entire end of the world' levels of quiet. Spooky, yeah?

Seeing as Sonic is able to cover a lot of ground in a short amount of time, he decides that the best course of action is clearly to just run around checking every building, tree, Porta Potty (do we have those??), whatever that he comes across. The longer he's at this, the ruder he might be about just barging into a place looking for signs of life so uh. Hope you weren't taking a dump, but Blue over here is a little bit frazzled right now. He could do the smart thing and just check the network, but eh... Nah. He'd rather just run up the sides of buildings and yell 'HELLOOOOOOOOOOO' really loud from the tops of them. Basically wherever you feel like encountering a semi-panicked-but-still-totally-trying-to-play-it-cool hedgehog is on the table. Unless that location is underwater, in which case he will not be joining you because swimming is not in his skillset lmao.]

Maybe it's a little of both? Maybe the weird experiments are helping somehow? Beats me, sometimes I wish I had more of a mind for this kind of thing.

Maybe they think so, anyway. Maybe it's supposed to bring us closer together. Who knows.

[He shakes his head in annoyance.]

It's all loco.

Oh yeah, we're just one big happy family down here, brought together by absurdity and trauma. Probably trauma. Do traumatic things happen a lot around here?

[Radley smirks darkly.]

Oh, aside from the monster attacks, badly injured people, frequent Storms that make powers go berserk and show us loved ones' ghosts, and random disappearances, we're in great shape.

Ah yeah, all that stuff. I'm not exactly upset that I've missed most of that stuff, but I guess I've got kind of a skewed frame of reference as far as that goes until I experience it I guess?

I definitely don't recommend any of it, but I'm sure you'll end up encountering almost all of it.

[Probably all of it. Unless nobody comes back. Then who knows what will happen to those left behind. But Radley doesn't want to scare Sonic with these thoughts.]

Oh booooy, can't wait.

[That's sarcasm, he can absolutely wait. It's fine, Sonic is more or less unshakable. At least for now.]

Ah well. I'll worry about that after we've figured out what's going on. Are you doing okay, by the way? I should have checked sooner.

[Radley smiles a bit.]

Yeah, I'm okay.

[He definitely doesn't sound okay on the Network post, but he won't bring that up. Now that he's not the only one here, it's back to being strong and confident.]

Who knows, maybe we'll find some others here too. Maybe they're even all here and it's some weird new party. It'd be strange if we didn't get invites, though.

[The Agrii always seem to announce them loudly, in Radley's experience.]

[It's fine Rad, Sonic won't call you out on it once he finally sits down for five minutes and checks the network.]

Knowing this place, it's probably not the kind of party I'd want to go to anyway.

[Radley will appreciate it. Although it's less about pride and more just not wanting others to worry about him. There's enough to worry about without that.

He laughs dryly.]

Oh yeah. The Thanksgiving party was ... something else.

[Well Sonic worries about everyone anyway, that can't be stopped. But he can fake being chill!

He's from one of those planets where Thanksgiving isn't a thing so he looks a little confused, but assumes it must be some kind of holiday or festival or something.]

Do I want to know what happened? I think morbid curiosity is getting the better of me, so I kinda do want to know.

[Radley smirks a bit.]

Well, almost everything the Agrii brought tasted like peanut butter and there were these freaky candies that changed peoples' personalities. One of the guys here decided he was in love with me and several people got scarily mad and threw fits about the smallest things.

No kidding? I can chalk the peanut butter thing up to aliens not knowing what food is supposed to taste like, but there's no way that something like a piece of candy being able to literally change someone's personality was an accident.

Yeeeah, I don't know what the heck was up with that. I didn't have any of the candy and I'm sure glad I didn't. It was pretty sadistic! I guess there's always the chance the Agrii consider that some kind of party game in their culture, but I hope they got the message that we weren't amused.

Ugh. The more I hear about this place, the less thrilled I am about being here.

Yeah, no kidding.

[Radley gives a dark smirk and then sighs. He definitely wishes he could go home. But if he and Sonic are the only ones here, he wouldn't want to leave Sonic here alone.]

Well ... shall we check out some places together or take a food break?

Hm. As much as I want to get back to looking now, I kinda forgot to eat before I got creeped out and started running all over. I better fuel up before we head out.

[He looks pretty restless, like he really wants to get out there and keep looking, but he's not really going to be any good to anyone if he's distracted by his stomach growling lol]

[Radley gives him a sympathetic look.]

Yeah, I haven't eaten either. Let's take care of that for us.

[He'd like to feel useful anyway. He heads for the diner.]

{And Sonic follows, because what else is he gonna do right now?]

Maybe we can just slap some sandwiches together really fast or something. I'm eager to get back out there and keep looking.

That works.

[Although he imagines Sonic is much faster at that than he is. He pushes open the door and heads for the kitchen.]

[Honestly if Sonic knew where everything was in the kitchen, he'd probably just whip in there real quick and zip around assembling sandwiches. But he'd probably make a giant mess, and he wouldn't really be able to reach the counters very easily anyway, so he'll just stay out of the way.]

Do you think we oughta check Sh'Ka too? I don't know how likely it is that everyone would have hopped on a train all at the same time, but it's not like there's nothing else going on that's super weird.

[Radley gathers everything as quickly as he can and starts making the sandwiches. He ponders this suggestion.]

Yeah, we probably should. You know, I still haven't ever been there.

[And Sonic will hop up to sit on an empty counter top. Y'know, because sitting where food prep happens is a good idea. It's fine.]

I haven't either, but that's mostly because I don't want to be stuck on a train for however long it takes to get there. Guess I should just suck it up, huh.

[Radley sighs at this seating arrangement and gives him a pointed look, indicating a nearby stool.]

Yeah, it looks like we both will.

[but Raaaaad, he wants to feel tall!

Sigh fine, Sonic takes the hint and hops off the counter and sits on the stool like a normal person.]

I assume the train is still running, anyway. I know the ships are gone.
