Not your usual trip to the beach

WHO: Peter & Jon
WHERE: The cave system at the Temba beach
WHAT: The Archivist decides to test his powers - And brings along a safety net

"Thanks for coming with me." Jon says, his tone somewhat absentminded and his eyes already drifting towards the entrance to the cave system. They have only just arrived at the beach, be he can already make out the destination of this little trip.

He feels lucky that Peter has readily agreed to come with him, barely even asking any question as of why Jon has asked for the young man's company. But Jon trusts Peter. For his age Peter is very responsible, which is a trait Jon can easily value. Especially with what they have come here for.

Turnig his attention fully to Peter, Jon raises a brow at him. "Have you been to the caves before?" He is not going to let Peter wander in there uninformned.

Peter bites the inside of his lip and nods. "Sorry, I shouldn't joke." He offers with apologetic shrug and then turns his attention to the cave. It looks ominous in its own right and the little hairs on the back of Peter's neck are starting to stand up.

"Wait.. increase my powers? What does that even mean, I'll be able to bench two buildings?" Peter turns to Jon, alarmed at the idea. They were here for Jon, not for Peter.

Jon looks over at Peter and shrugs. "From what we know any power gets amplified, wether one seeks that effect or not. For me I... I hope it means I can glean some insight. But you should also be prepared. Just in case."

Insight, maybe even understanding are certainly part of what makes Jon want to seek out the caves. The last time he hasn't been as powerful as he is today and as of now he hasn't dared to enter the caves again. But certain recent events have made him question his own reluctance.

"You... Remember when my power failed against that monster that attacked us, I suppose."

Peter's suddenly not so sure he wants to go through with this-he likes his power levels as they are but mostly because he's pretty sure amplified power is going to come amplified responsibility but again, he thinks about the fact he can't just leave Jon to fend for himself.

As Jon explains his goals here, Peter can't help but wonder if this trip has anything to do with the fact Jon couldn't get anything off the Beardger Monster? He turns back to the man the moment that his theory is confirmed and offers a small nod.

"Yeah, I wasn't gonna bring it up though. Do you think you'll be able to figure out where it came from if you amplify your powers?"

"It's- Uh... It's not necessarily about the monster." Jon replies with a sigh as they aproach the cave. "But-- My powers failed me before." When Tony was gone. When he drove himself up the walls trying to See more. Though failing may not necessarily be the correct word. They rather weren't enough.

He sighs. "I... I am aware that the effect of the caves won't be permanent. But I have to try if I can- If they can amplify me enough to allow me to See what's going on. I know I should be able to See much more than I am... Well. Allowed to." Jon makes a small, almost bemused sound and shrugs in Peter's direction. "Back on my Earth, I could literally See the end of reality if I really tried, you see? Wasn't easy. Gave me quite a headache, but..."

No. This isn't just about a single monster. If possible, Jon wants to get answers.
